This is a perfect place for book lovers and foodies. It does get very crowded and noisy but food and books are worth it. I went for brunch on a weekend and ordered ricotta stuffed french toast with blueberry syrup, iced mocha, chicken sandwich and sweet potato fries. The food was yum, decent coffee and quick service. The stuffed french toast was perfect and very filling. Browsing through aisles of book, the colorful stairs with book names make this cafe and bookstore worth a visit.

Google asked you to rate atmosphere. That is a little bit difficult for this lovely hidden surprise. It’s an actual bookstore with actual books and knickknacks to buy plus a lovely restaurant. So is it romantic atmosphere? Is it a cozy atmosphere? Is it a warm atmosphere. It’s hard to say. It’s suffice to say it’s just a very cool atmosphere. You’re surrounded by all these young people on computers, studying with reasonably priced food in a very expensively priced area. You wouldn’t expect crème brûlée and yet they have crème brûlée. The crème brûlée was prepared perfectly. With a slight touch of lemon 🍋 flavor and a golden caramelize sugar topping. They have a hamburger for $17. They have shepherds pie. Or you can get a small salad and a muffin. It’s just a lovely, lovely place. Service was surprisingly good. Sarah was our waitress and she was attentive. Knew her menu well and very sweet young lady. I suspect she’s a college student. This is where students go to eat in this very expensive high priced area. Look at my pictures. It’s so cool that they have all these knickknacks they sell them along with books. All this, a bookstore 📖 📚 and a coffee shop with great food reasonably priced. For dessert my husband ordered a chocolate Sunday for $2.95. it was a Quality vanilla ice cream with chocolate syrup, served inside of a coffee cup. Oh, one more thing I can’t have an accurate review without all the “necessary,” description of the details this little coffee shop has to offer. THEY SELL BEER 🍻 🍺‼️ A tall beer for $7. And a small salad for a few dollars. The hamburger was the size of my head. Served with a side of tomatoes, lettuce, and a healthy side of french fries. All that for $17. They have a French dip beef sandwich. I can’t remember everything, just take my word for it. Do you want a reasonable good meal with Wi Fi and be around all these young people? And a beer 🍺 🍻? Go to the Trident 🔱 It’s a restaurant No it’s a bookstore No it’s a knickknack shop. what it is is cool 😎 No, just go to the trident.

Great spot for a read and eat. Went for a brunch and their food tasted very fresh. The prices are well and reasonable considering being on Newbury St. Plenty of seating available during summers, outside patio available as well. The juices are really fresh, tofu scramble tasted well. The falafal wrap was good as well however could be better if grilled rather than being cold. It’s hard to get server’s attention once your food is delivered. Overall a great place for food and being a book worm. Plenty of books available for purchase and reading.

The place was packed even though it wasn’t a weekend. This made the service pretty slow, but the waitress was nice. The outdoors seating were full so we sat indoors and it was cozy and nice. Tried Lemon ricotta stuffed French toast (couldn’t stop eating) 9.5/10 and Southwest breakfast burrito (was so fulfilling) 9.5/10.

Trident was a really neat place. We just stopped in to look at the books and grab a cup of coffee. The lattes we had were pretty good and the bookstore had a wide selection. They had a food menu as well that looked intriguing but we didn’t try any food.

We were struggling to find good place for pancakes in Boston. There are places that serve pancakes, but they don't look very appetizing, if you know what I mean. This cafe was fantastic, though. It is neat, and clean, and has some fantastic food. Not only pancakes, but their French Toast is excellent as well. And the service was super friendly 😄 If we're back in Boston, we'd happily visit again.

Delicious food. Fast friendly service. All while in a book lover’s haven. Great selection of books. Cute gifts. Delicious food. Tasty Maple Latte. Highly recommend. So good I ate there twice when in town. Go early in morning you can be seated immediately with no wait. Highly recommend.

A very very nice place for buying books and eating breakfast. Food was good. Will go back again for sure. Finding parking is as always an issue in this area, but with patience and luck, you can find 2-hour street parking for a few dollars...:)

I enjoyed the novelty. The food itself was not too bad. I had the French toast and Viennese coffee. They have an efficient method of ordering food ahead at the table from a QR code, but because you pay first as you order, they ask for tip before receiving any services. That's probably only the business practice I disagree with because I can only presume pre-tip may affect quality of service. Regardless, I was pleased to see that service was quick and efficient.

I liked the atmosphere of the bookshop and the bar area. Real diner feel. I felt the food was average. Lots of quantity, though, if that's your thing. Soup was better than the sandwich.

This place is magical. I have nothing else to say. The food is amazing, beautiful and tasty. The waiting staff is kind as well as helpful. Moreover the touch free ordering system is perfect for my introvert brain. The bookshop part is also perfect, offering, a wide range of books, bookmarks and other little gifts. This place is a dream come true.

Absolutely loved this cafe concept. It’s such a good mix of books and food. Their breakfast menu is amazing. Pro-tip, download the toast app to get a discount when ordering. The book section has a wide selection of books to choose from.

This cafe & book store had a little something for everyone! My daughter wanted everything she saw…. And so did I. The steps inside are a great opportunity for a fun photo. We decided to dine while there and their hummus was some of the best I’ve had! Sometimes hummus can be grainy but this was so smooth and creamy with a great flavor profile. I got the pita triangles fried which adds a fun, crunchy, yet chewy texture. The muffin grilled was a big hit as well.

Looking for a spot to enjoy afternoon coffee or brunch with a book. This is the place to visit. They serve brunch, a good selection of coffee’s the cheesecake is a must try! The place gets really busy and packed at lunch time specially on the weekends. But nonetheless good place to eat and enjoy some reading. Before heading out you can check out their bookstore and at the center of the store there’s novelty items for gifting. The place is tight, it would be hard to get into the cafe with wheelchair or stroller.

The coffee we ordered came to us lukewarm. Otherwise, it was a nice experience! Love the ambience of the bookstore; its very cosy and whimsical, and has a lot of books and book merch. Would recommend checking out their shelves

Very quick service on a busy Saturday! I got the Challah French toast and espresso milkshake which were both delicious. Love that you ordered from your phone and it was brought right to you.

Fast service and good food! Only drawback is the price, but if you get one of the specials, it isn't too bad. Very cozy. Nice ambiance. Would recommend!

Gluten free options!! We went a little crazy for our lunch, we were so hungry. I got the chicken walnut apple salad (GF) and my husband got the prosciutto sub (not GF). We shared the sweet potato fries with aioli sauce and it was so delish!! We couldn’t finish the fries, the food was so filling. We of course left room for the gluten free cake. Ok, it’s not really a cake. I would describe it more of a rich chocolate ganache in fudge form, but it was still delicious (and pricey $$). Customer service is meh, but they make it easy to avoid most contact with the servers since the whole ordering process is done on your phone. One tip to the owner - add a way to order a glass of water with your meal on the app, that way you don’t have to send the server back and forth again once your meal comes.
