Great place. I'm not sure if the place is usually this quiet or just the time I went there. Great small beach-ish place, not quite a full fledged one. But soothing any way.

This park has potential to become of the city s most attractive and top destination in the future. The city plans to invest a lot of money to make this park not only floodable but a more resilient park to combat sea level rise, climate change. This park will be operational year around. There are a lot fields, courts etc...

I’ve lived close to this park my whole life. I remember the naming ceremony and Mr Joe himself. This is a wonderful resource for the community. Plenty of spaces for baseball, a well maintained track for running, basketball courts and playgrounds. I think the track field is so underused but I’m not complaining as I like to have it to myself. The playground was renovated recently and looks great for kids. There’s a second one over near the south boston neighborhood house/school but it’s not as nice. The big, grassy fields are great for walking your dog and biking around. I’ve always felt safe at this place and don’t worry much. It’s not super-well lit but it’s got some lighting. The roads surrounding it are busy but not high speed roads so it’s alright. As one of our biggest green spaces in Southie/Dorchester, this place is a great place to visit. The park is in great shape and I think whoever oversees that should be given high praise!

Large recreational Park featuring Basketball Courts, Baseball/Softball Fields, Tennis Courts, Soccer Fields, and a Football Field with Floodlights. Very spacious, and right next to Carson Beach! There is also a wide variety of Intramural sports teams that play/hold events, at the park, during weeknights. Highly recommend!

I grew up going to this park- I am 67yo now. So many great times from the original playground with the great swings, flooding part of the park in winter for ice skating, the stadium area for football games , taking g my kids for soccer/ little league, just playing and picnics..Unfortunately the past few years have not been kind to South Boston and Columbia /Moakley Park as the City of Boston have let the stadium seats decay, do not take care of the grass or walkways, are just letting it go to pot for some horrible plan for the area. The City needs to maintain this once beautiful park and start caring for the people of South Boston instead of walking all over us after taking our ever increasing property tax and other taxes that are supposed to go towards maintaining our parks and playgrounds. The City also needs to start taking care of the other local playgrounds as they too are mostly neglected.

The kids love it here. Certain parts of the playground teach the kids braille and sign language, which is pretty cool. I love the water sprinklers they have as well.

It is nice n spacious but too many people let the dogs run free n use it as a bathroom. Also there is a ton of geese using it as a bathroom too but they usually stay in one area. There is a dog park but people let there dogs roam free and inside the parks, hockey rink(brand new), tennis courts, basketball courts, track, and soccer field. The parks are decent except dogs. I never seen the police or parks and recreation fine people either. I live directly across the street.

Great open park. There are a number of baseball fields and pitches for soccer and rugby. Park is rather large and park can sometimes be difficult to find but there is usually something close by.

It's okay there... They need to clean the port-a-potties more often, they were absolutely disgusting. Needles and beer cans, socks, underwear etc...

This is a great beach. Easy to walk on, lots of shells and shallow water. Stay at the Marriott and enjoy walking on the beach daily. Not crowded and very laid back.

Very good beach, water is not that clear, a-lot of shells and sharp things on the surface but overall good

  • 3/5 Cedric B. 1 year ago on Google
The beach is conveniently located. Gets very crowded when the weather is beachy and it's not the cleanest sand or water I've seen on a beach but if you want to do beachy things without having to drive 40+ minutes outside of the city, this is all Boston has for you.

Joe moakley park has a little bit of everything for everybody there's about 6 baseball fields, football stadium, soccer fields, volleyball courts, tennis courts, basketball courts, there is track and field and street hockey rink! There's even monster truck tires to flip down there if that's your thing. I think that they're a personal or group trainers so you'd have to figure that out.

  • 4/5 Thomas B. 2 years ago on Google
Pretty nice stadium with turf, a track, and lights. I play 11v11 soccer there and it is an evening league so playing under the lights is pretty cool! The main complaint would be parking, as the most convenient lots are usually full, but there is ample street parking to supplement it. Pretty good place to walk the dog, and it is a clean park. Police will be around to kick you out after a certain hour, usually 10pm or so.
