A great public beach readily accessible by public transportation. Carson Beach repeatedly scores high marks as one of, if not the cleanest urban beaches in America. Cleaner water than Huntington Beach, Virginia Beach, Miami Beach etc. Not the best sand, but a fine view and great diverse crowds. It's nice to be able to get together at such a highly-accessible beach.

This is a great escape from the city. I feel like every year it gets a little cleaner, a little nicer and a little busier which is great. Still some room for improvement but still somehow a hidden gem for Boston that more people need to come experience in Southie. Also, this area close to the beach is finally improving in regards to real estate as people now want to live closer to the beach than in the past as more families move and grow into the city.

Carson Beach in Boston is a coastal gem. Its sandy shores, picturesque views of the city skyline, and easy access make it a local favorite. The clean, well-maintained area is perfect for sunbathing and picnics. Families and friends can enjoy volleyball courts, a playground, and ample parking. While it can get crowded on hot summer days, the lively atmosphere adds to its charm. A must-visit for a quintessential Boston beach experience.

This place is really awesome. Thereโ€™s plenty of walkways and sitting areas. The beach portion appears clean. A lot of room to lay out and soak up some sun. There was no lifeguard on duty at the time. Swim at your own risks. Great place to workout by walking, running, or yoga. Great parking if you can get there early. Right near the airport so you can see all the planes coming in for landing. Family friendly atmosphere

Beautiful place to get away from the city. Even though it was winter when we went, the sand was beautiful, and the sky blue. Very peaceful in winter with friendly sea gulls. Definitely going back, although the lack of bathrooms is a deterring factor.

A back bay beach that doesn't look out to the ocean. We saw some folks sunbathing but you must bring mats or tents to have a good time. Even then it is mostly for sitting and reading a book, not necessarily for dipping in the water. The beach has a lot of pebbles and shells which could be beautiful if not for the glass shards, plastics and other trash that one will encounter. I tried bare feet walking on the sand and again, after 10 minutes I gave up and put my shoes back on. The sidewalk has some shaded benches which offer good relief but again, what would you be looking out to? Some buildings and housing on the other side of the shoreline.

A not so โ€œhidden secretโ€ of Boston anymore. Sure, the sand could be better and the water warmer, but overall ... you are steps from downtown so this beach is a gift.

Really nice beach, not so far from Boston downtown. Perfect to walk or run in a nice sunny day. Many people walking with dogs and enjoying the beach. There are no shops nearby so you need to bring your own beverage and food.

Public beach located in South Boston. Fairly clean, with a party vibe usually. Can get busy in the summer. Decent parking opportunities, although covid protocols have eliminated many former spots. Carson isnt a 5 star beach, but its a solid 4.

Carson beach is and has always been 1 of my favorite places. Ez access by train ,it used to be columbia station now its jfk. 5 minute walk to the beach. Or you can drive. Low tide it gets mucky and a kid explorer will have fun looking in tide pools and digging for clams. Ahhh the memories

Clean sands, large pavilion with toilets and changing rooms. There are even a couple of vendor stands. However, parking is very limited.

Regretted the trip, the sand part of the beach was ok. Everything else was horrible. Parking was rare, water was muddy, the wet part of the beach was swampy and there were broken clamp shells everywhere, I happened to puncture my toe by one of those. We were there with kids so it was extra challenging for us, if you have to go here avoid bringing children.

Stay away on carnival day they play the music so loud you canโ€™t enjoy the beach. Ridiculous

  • 5/5 Michelle 9 months ago on Google
Always can get a spot on the sand, music comes from the other side of the beach. Could be a bit annoying if you wanted to listen to the waves ๐Ÿ˜

Very nice public beach! Plenty of shade, sun.Places to sit everywhere, explore, take your doggie friend for walks. Place to grab food and drinks opens at 10:30-11:00 am. Nice big bathhouse, sprayers outside to rinse off. Parking available, easy access ramps for wheelchairs. Nice atmosphere ๐Ÿ’œ Good spot also plenty of beach to lay out on.

Came here with friends and had a good time. The bathrooms aren't too dirty, and there's a food stand with a decent variety of sandwiches, ice cream, and other good beach treats. However the sand in the water is incredibly muddy and feels kind of gross, which made my swimming experience less than ideal.

The clariry and viscosity of the water seems about right, as does the density and granularity of the sand, but I'm not a scientist. If you're looking to lay in the sand next to a body of water you can't go wrong here Facilities are a plus, but parking is limited.
