I
have
used
the
out
patient
services
of
Mass
General
for
45
years.
My
recent
experiences
with
the
Urology
Department
were
so
unprofessional
and
medically/administratively
disappointing
that
I
am
required
share
them
with
others.
Following
a
period
of
discomfort
and
an
appointment
with
my
PCP,
I
received
a
referral
to
the
Urology
Department
at
Mass
General.
The
earliest
available
appointment
was
7
weeks
out
which
I
made
and
requested
that
I
be
put
on
a
cancellation
list
in
case
a
sooner
appointment
became
available.
While
at
Whole
Foods
10
days
later,
I
stopped
in
upstairs
to
inquire
about
the
cancellation
list
only
to
be
told
that
I
was
not
on
it.
The
two
people
at
the
desk
were
totally
unaware
of
how
to
enter
my
information
and
called
upon
a
woman
from
the
back
who
entered
the
information
immediately.
The
next
day
I
received
a
call
that
a
sooner
appointment
was
available
in
three
days
which
I
took.
What
followed
was
an
appointment
for
a
procedure
about
which
I
received
NO
advance
information,
was
quite
painful
and
lacked
the
necessary
amount
of
anesthesia
and
skill.
The
next
appointment
with
another
doctor
who
specialized
in
the
area
where
I
was
to
be
treated
took
place
in
the
presence
a
few
residents
who
were
being
instructed
on
my
situation.
When
I
attempted
to
ask
the
doctor
a
question,
I
was
abruptly
shut
off
as
the
instruction
to
the
residents
continued.
To
say
I
was
treated
condescendingly
would
be
a
vast
understatement.
I
reported
the
foregoing
to
my
PCP
who
recommended
that
I
visit
the
Patient
Advocacy
office
at
Mass
General
and
share
my
experience.
I
declined
to
do
this
but
received
a
referral
to
the
Urology
Department
at
another
Boston
hospital
where
I
now
receive
care
and
treatment
on
a
significantly
more
professional
level.
One
wonders
why
there
are
so
many
poor
reviews
for
this
department.
