Went on a Monday and the zoo was pretty empty. There are some great views of the animals with spacious enclosures for a lot of the exhibits. The down side is that there are not that many animals total in the zoo compared to others across the country. There are a decent number of activities for kids and good angles for photos of the main exhibits. The open air bird exhibits were different from other zoos and a pretty cool feature. We went early enough that we didn't try any food options but they had a few on property. Price was cheap compared to other zoos so the smaller size and exhibits shows up in the price so you get good value.

Went in for Boston Lights. Thank you Mix 104.1. Had a great night. Nice walk through the park with my daughter trying to see all the animals she could, the ones still out that is. All the lanterns and lights were so neat.

We were here only once before for the lights show at night so didn't get the chance to see the animals till today. The zoo is not big but has a good collection of animals from around the world. Many of them are not camera shy, like the thinking gorilla, the playful lions, and the none stop walking giraffes. I was able to capture lots of good shots with my phone while kids enjoyed watching the animals. We got the library pass discount from local library, so $9 per adult and $6 per kid.

We have been to both the zoos here - stone zoo and Franklin Park zoo. While stone zoo has small exhibits, Franklin Park zoo is quite huge in comparison and they have bigger animals like camels, zebra, lions, horses here. But I would say that the highlight is the tropical forest and swamp sections here. They got guerillas and hippos too. It's a perfect place for an all day outing specially if your kid loves the animals. You can buy food, drinks and they have restrooms all over the zoo. We had a very good experience here

Okay keep in mind it is the time of Covid-19. Getting to the zoo and getting in the zoo was fine. However once in the zoo it's a very different story. There are areas marked to wear masks however they have no one in theses area, minus the kangaroo/blue penguin exhibit, to hold people accountable. Therefore you are 50/50 at BEST of people following any protocol in the park. I'm being generous here. As for the park it was nice. I'd suggest either early morning to go when it is slightly cooler. More animals will be active unlike when we went around 2pm and it got hot 80+. Most animals were either sleeping or in the shade. Also you pay for parking as you leave. Since this was our first time and I pre-paid I was a bit confused. All in all a good time. Really would have been tough with more people though.

Beautiful big trees, big open spaces for the animals and a baby gorilla. They have a very exciting playground and climbing area and clean restrooms. The lines at the snack area were very long. The Family Membership is a good choice and then you can visit often for shorter periods of time with young children. The brain and neuroscience exhibit was interesting.

Went on a Wednesday afternoon and it wasn’t busy! Love that the animals can get really close! My only complaint is there was construction happening at the same time To prepare for the lantern festival and so a few exhibits were closed. The kids had a great time! If you’re going with more than 1 child, I recommend renting a double stroller for only $7! Also used a voucher I got from my local library for discounted entrance fees.

I attended the Boston Lantern Light experience yesterday with my daughter and best friend with her daughter. We had an amazing time! The lights and animations were breathtaking; the colors were extremely vibrant. While the event was really packed, everyone did their best with social distancing and respecting each other's space and time while using any of the attractions. The Franklin Park staff was very courteous and helpful throughout the whole thing. I definitely recommend this event for all to see!

This review is only for the Boston lantern lights. It was very beautiful. There are a few different themes to walk through and view the different light displays. Definitely enjoyed it. Took us a little over an hour to walk through the whole thing, but we took our time. It can be done much quicker or slower depending on your style.

Everything was awesome I just went here! The experience even with masks on was great..i recommend bringing your own snacks and drinks as the vending machines are closed but the savanna cafe was open..not to many options but good food. The treetop adventure, well no words. Amazing. The adult one is challenging in my opinion but that's just me. The zipline is great, I just wish we could go more than once and it's very short, but the view is very nice. Overall great experience. Definitely coming back

This is a review for #BostonLights, the light show for thanksgiving and Halloween time. I personally have not walked through the zoo to see the animals yet, but the light show put on every year is a must see. They change the exhibit and light displays every year so that there is a fresh Trip experience. This is great for the whole family, and we drove 2 hours just to attend. We go every year for every light show.

This lantern show was meticulously put together and the amount of work it might have required is enormous. Everything from the music, to the lights, to each detail, to each color was insanely well done. My son had so much fun. It was beautiful, breathtaking and well organized. If you are looking for a fun activity to do with your family, it's definitely the place to go. Excellent job! We are definitely going back before it ends.

We enjoyed our trip. Of course the highlights of our time there was the two (sleeping) lions and tiger. We also got a great view of the two giraffes. Of course pictures don’t do it justice. This is such a wonderful place to take kids. They have these beautiful “animals” around that light up at night. Even in the date they are great for pictures and just enjoying visually. They also have really fun play areas and jungle gyms the kids really enjoyed everything!

It's a really great place for adults, children and everyone. The decorations of lights are really awesome and very unique 2 hours is not enough guys please go early. The time tickets are not so much accurately seen by ticket collector so go early. At last it has ride for kids and play area. It is really memorable and worth watch. Not giving 5 stars only because the parking is not so manageable or no proper guidelines but it's really good 👌 must go.

I can't say the Zoo was horrible but they definitely need some funding. I wish I was rich but I'm not. It is a large area with quite surprising a large amount acreage but I personally don't feel as though they are using the entire acreage in the smartest way. The enclosures need some serious help and should be bigger. (Just my opinion) I don't blame the staff because I'm sure like most places their short staffed. I do however, think they are spending more money and effort on the "light show" than the animals and property. Many enclosures where closed and the others that were open are not well kept at all. Beware of the indoor exhibits too they smell horrible especially the bird enclosure. This one, for me, was a hard pass and one of the worse Zoo's I've been too.

Nice little zoo in the heart of Boston. As you can see i liked the giraffes! The Nature's Neighborhoods area is a fun place for kids to learn about various habitats. They can climb up into a big n'est. See farm animals at the farm. I was disappointed because the butterfly exhibit was closed for some reason. And the gorillas have a new habitat but they were not out because they are getting used to their new home. Nice place for a stroll on a weekday afternoon. I didn't put a price because my family has a membership, which i recommend if you plan to go more than once a year. The membership is also good for the Stone Zoo.

Parking is free but was limited. The grounds are very well kept. The grounds are huge which I guess helps keep the crowds spread apart. We went into each exhibit and spent slightly under 2 hours there.

My favorite zoo...so far. Just the right size. Dolphin exhibit was beautiful...however I will say it wasn't as special like I thought it would be. They were just swimming, a lot of times out if sight. The prettiest thing was the aquarium they were in. The butterfly exhibit also a little disappointing.....not to many butterflies. I am comparing this exhibit to the Memphis butterfly exhibit. But like the dolphin exhibit.....the exhibit was the best part. But as far as the rest, just beautiful. I love the rides you can take and it's all around a beautiful zoo.

It was a wonderful family day outing, and my mother truly enjoyed the experience. Tigers are her favorite! It was an easy layout to walk - an important consideration for older folks in our group. And... the Orangutan exhibit is the best! :+)

Vibrant zoo experience in the outskirts of Boston. The butterfly exhibit was not great as the cover on the building was missing. The food and dining tables were easily found. Unfortunately there was something going on there and we couldn't buy food. At least the picnic tables were working. It must have been a holiday as many of the animals were gone that day. Large trees lined the paths of the well manicured walkways. Don't worry about overcrowding here. The highlight was the baby gorilla.

This was a cute little zoo. Loved seeing the baby Gorilla pound his chest at us and got some great shots here. It was quite crowded with school tours when we arrived but by lunch they had gone but they were very enthusiastic to learn and it was fun watching them. It took us about 3 hours to comfortably go through the exhibits.

Fun family fun! Well maintained. Lots of up close views of the animals. Came back 2 days later, my daughter had lost her carrying purse, and lost and found had it with all it's content inside. Major uplifting moment, thank you so much! Can't wait to visit again, coming from Maine.

Lovely experience. It's recommended to not visit on hot afternoon because animals would be generally sleeping or taking rest in shades. Reptile section were under construction. Gorilla section was very interesting and spent lot of time to tentatively interact and say hello to them. Although gorilla were not surprised to see us and probably bored of getting clicked by visitors. Free parking available across the entry gate.

Great place to take the kids! My advice, pay the $12 extra to get the adventure pass like we did, you won't regret it. You get to feed the animals at certain exhibits (birds, giraffe, etc.) and ride the rides. All the exhibits were amazing, the only problem we ran into is if you want to see the dolphin show, you have to present your ticket you get at the main entrance. We were lead to believe we needed a separate ticket and because of this, were unable to see the show. Aside from that, the butterfly exhibit is outside the main gate, it is not located within the park if you are looking for it based on the signs and map.

This zoo was okay. We road trip a lot and there are much better zoos out there to visit. We got to do the dolphin encounter which was unique. However, we felt rushed through it and it was a lot of money for only a several-minute experience. We did a quick walk-thru of the zoo and it was more than enough. *I would not visit this place during COVID. Many people took their masks off when they got inside and there was no accountability for it.

Now during the pandemic, there is a tent for temperature screening before you are even able to approach the gate. There are signs everywhere to remind people to not touch the glass. They have one way paths for indoor areas. This place is well prepared for the state's current situation. The animals also looked to be in great condition! I enjoyed my time here!

Small "zoo" with about 6 different animals but it is a nice place to take smaller children or if your looking for a place to practice your photography. They have two play areas located in the zoo and plenty of hand sanitizing stations as well. The animals were awake and active. We had a chance to see the staff feed some of the animal which my boys enjoyed. It is free to enter the zoo and there are public bathrooms available as well. There was a vending machine located right across from the entrance and they have plenty of benches located throughout the park for people who want to rest or just enjoy the sites.

To call this a zoo is a bit of a stretch. It's very small, more along the lines of a petting zoo, minus most of the petting. Having said that, this is an ideal spot for young kids, perhaps 7 and under. They have sheep, donkeys, llamas, chickens, peacocks, and goats. Since it's small the kids tend not to get overwhelmed. None of the animals are aggressive, and it's surprisingly clean. In recent years they have added a new entryway, upgraded the walking path, and improved the playground areas. It's free, so no harm in checking it out. I just wouldn't recommend going out of your way. If you live close and need an activity for some young kids you could do a lot worse.

Plenty of animals in great enclosures. Easy to get to with a fair amount of parking available. Sausage sizzle for $3 otherwise there are two cafes seeking sandwiches, pies, burgers, drinks, and ice creams. A great day out with family and friends. Take your walking shoes, because it can be quite a hike getting arrive and seeing all the animals.

Came here during the Light Festival. We enjoyed the time there and the park was setup very nicely. Haven’t been here to enjoy the actual zoo but the layout and the diversity of animals, based on the informational signs we saw, seemed reasonable. I will say if you’re coming in the late spring, summer or early fall definitely bring bug spray or you’ll get eaten alive.

It's a good place to visit with family. Got huge playground for childrens and its a good walk for adults. Special mentions are 1. The Kids Park 2. Tropical Forest 3. Lion and Tiger 4. Flight Cage. I was lucky to see Lion and Flights close by! I enjoyed the experience. The Kids would have a blast. The food inside the zoo is not warm and great. If the weather is prefect, it would take 3 to 4 hours to complete the entire zoo.

Was a really nice walk through quite a few exhibits. I took the red line & a bus here. My only suggestion is better signage in the area for catching a bus back. I ended up accidentally taking a bus to Alewife instead of Andrew, but either way it got me back to South Station in the end.🙂

I always enjoy seeing exotic animals up close in a natural setting. Unfortunately, this was difficult to do at the Franklin Park Zoo today. Many animals were "missing" or "hiding" or otherwise difficult to see. Several exhibits were closed to the public for some unexplained reason. We were not given a map or tour guide to help us navigate the zoo and I found it a bit difficult to figure out where to go in an efficient way. I think we could have enjoyed our visit more with a little help from the zoo staff.

It's best to go early in the morning or late in the day. Midday the animals are sleeping because they've all just eaten. So we saw a low of the animals laying down. Quite a number of exhibits were closed. But the bird were all there! The kiwi exhibit is awesome but it's a quiet area so it's recommended that boisterous children and adults are to avoid going. Also if you have bad vision the kiwi exhibit is a nocturnal one so it's flooded with a red-light. The rest of the tropical birds in the bird enclosure are awesome and free flying. The giraffes were awesome they have a baby giraffe currently it's adorable!

They clearly don’t take care of the animals. There is a Zebra where you can see his legs look deformed but it’s actually the size of his nail. The zebra is not able to run with its small pack which I thought was weird until I realized why. This is so sad. This zebra barely moves let alone run. This zoo looks very sad and is so quiet. The trails are nice but all the animals look miserable it’s actually hard to look at.

Light show was magical! Beautiful themes from different countries and landscapes. Be prepared to walk a lot and take your time to really look at all the exhibits. Some are interactive and great for kids. We stopped for some delicious fried dough although there was a beer and wine tent as well. Went for the light show but caught some porcupines out for a stroll! Lol!

A beautiful and quiet zoo! I went in early November on a weekday and the crowds were definitely nonexistent. There weren’t many animals, but there were enough to make the visit feel worth it, and it always feel good to support an AZA-accredited zoo, where you know your money goes to a good cause.

Currently all tickets need to be purchased online. I needed to rent a wheel chair and the woman who handled the ticket booth handled that as well. She was very pleasant and helped set the mood for a great time, even during Covid. While the zoo could clearly use more funding and more animals it was very clean and an relaxing time. Everyone was doing a great job of compliance with face masks and distance and still conversing with others as watching animals. And it includes some play areas for children to get out some energy.

Came here for the lantern light exhibit and it's fantastic!! It's a one way loop around the zoo with 2 entrances to get in. One from zebra entrance, and the opposite side. Takes about an hour to walk through if you are taking photos and enjoying what's available to read and listen to. There was ice cream and restrooms in the loop as well.

The Light Boston summer event was spectacular, viewing every single float available. The park is somewhat large, but the day I arrived, nobody was checking for one's tickets at admissions. I took a "back-entrance" from the park to the zoo, yet there was no person at the gates, which was extremely odd. I came at 4PM, and they close at 5PM, which was a bit more shocking. Nonetheless, the animals seem to have much space to roam free, and if one is not willing to see any animal in captivity, the metal replicas will sure do justice as an homage to them!

We go every year to The Festival of Lights as a family, and I love it. There's always something new to see and plenty of activities for the little ones of course. My favorite was roasting marshmallows! We brought our own stuff, but you can buy crackers, chocolate etc. Not at all overcrowded or overbearing like I had worried. The prices are a bit much, so you can simply bring your own snacks, we still bought a hot chocolate and it was perfect for the occasion. (Most everyone wore a mask while walking around, just for the picture)

I can see why the Cincinnati Zoo as one of the best zoos in the United States. There is so much to offer their animals there's children's activities there's playground structure and plenty of stores and food for everyone. Unfortunately if you go during the Festival of Lights don't expect to see lots of animals I hardly saw any at all.

The animals are so cute!!! We loved the seals especially. Please consider adopting (sponsoring) a zoo animal to help fund it! Would love to come back after quarantine to see the full zoo in action! Right now most of the animals on display are mammals, the fish, amphibians, etc are closed off for safety reasons.

A fantastic zoo to visit in any season! There are lots of world-class exhibits to choose from. My personal favorites are the penguins (very nifty display where you can see them swim from one side of the room to the other, under the floor), the dolphins (cool underwater viewing dome for watching the swim around you), and the orangutans (very nice multi-story indoor structure for watching them play and climb, my three year old's favorite). Definitely a lot of must-see exhibits and a fantastic stop on a visit to Indianapolis.

The ongoing pandemic has definitely taken a toll on a lot of businesses and public places since a consumer’s mindset to buy anything outside of essentials or to visit a public place like a park or beach, has crippled down significantly. Now by living with what has become the new normal, it is commendable on how these businesses and public places continue to remain open and cater to the general public by following the safety standards. It is now all the more important that we as customers, support these heroes during these dark hours to mankind. It’s only a 15 min drive from where I live and I didn’t know about this gem of a zoo until recently. I was impressed by the reviews from fellow Yelpers and Google Local guides that I couldn’t stop myself from going here. When you get here and drive to the parking, you start realizing that you are in a little park like zoo and feel rest assured that the animals wouldn’t be cramming for space in little cages. The parking is inbuilt in their facility and is pretty huge. We booked our slots through online in December during holidays and the checkin was as smooth as a butter and top of all, it was FREE (May be because of off-season). They have a mandatory mask policy inside their facility and their staff are masked up at all times and their kindness will beam out beyond their masks. They were kind and answered to all our questions about the animals that were in their facility. The ladies who takes care of the reptiles facility and the Manta ray facility are very knowledgeable and seem to be enjoying what they are doing. We went here towards end of the day and could not cover the entire space. Was lucky enough to capture a very active young Leopard, a snow leopard, Hyena, Lions, Flamingos, sea lions and a gentle Peacock. The giraffes and cheetahs were locked away due to the cold weather and we could not see all of the attractions. The zoo is currently closed temporarily for the whole month of January 2021 and I would love to return here for taking more photographs, once they are open again.

We went on Sunday of the Thanksgiving weekend with our 22m old son. The entire zoo took about 2.5 hours from start to finish. There were a few animals missing - they'd been removed from the enclosure but at the same time, there was more than enough entertainment for my 22m old. He enjoyed petting the sting rays and watching the sea lions play in the water. We didn't go on the train as the line for it was massive and also Covid-19. Overall, we enjoyed our day and was completely worth the the $34 we paid for the 2 adults. Kids under 2 are free.

this is honestly one of the worst zoos i have ever been to. the animals spaces were so small and they were pacing back and forth. a sign of stress anxiety and boredom. the bears had no interest in us or the people, it was so sad. the animals looked depressed. plus the farm animals were all aggressive . which is so weird dude. ive never seen animals behave in that way. even the llamas, the sheep, and the goats all had warning signs. really has me questioning the treatment and amount of interaction they get. animals are not supposed to be that aggressive.

This is such a good spot. A hidden gem so close! It's a free zoo inside green hill park.. never too busy, open from spring to fall, a public bathroom (also opened spring to fall) some small play structures within the zoo, and animals animals animals! Typically you'll see Donkeys, mini ponies, alpacas, goats, sheep, peacocks, pigs, golden fesents, and chickens. Pro tip: the goats love to be pet!

Although I have only visited a handful of zoo overseas and within Australia. This is the best I have ever visited. You feel you are very close to the animals. Must try animal encounters, absolutely worthwhile.

Fantastic zoo.. Stayed overnight and had some close encounters with several animals. Rooms are fantastic with some having wild animals outside your window. And the Food... Simply Yummo. Definitely recommend to everyone, whether you are 2 or 92..

Just visited the zoo for the first time with my 2 year old son and an infant. My 2 year old son was very happy to be able to be up close to see so many of the animals. The zoo is neat and clean and tidy and plenty of animals to see. The cafe inside is a surprising change with reasonably price food and of ok quality.

We had a great time at Franklin Park Zoo! We spent the weekend all together as a family, which is rare now that half of our kids are adults and on their own. During the day we spent roaming the zoo and checking out the animals, and had a great time. We are a large family, and appreciated the ability to bring our own snacks, meals and drinks along, as it made the trip cost effective for us and kept the kiddos fed and watered. We enjoyed the animals and educational opportunities. Staff was friendly and helpful. The zoo was close enough to our hotel (in Billerica) that it made it easy enough for us to spend most of the day at the zoo and then head back to the hotel for naps and dinner before heading back for the Boston Lights experience. As great of a day we had, the light show was a showstopper for us. We had a great time and the displays were just amazing. kids from 9 months all the way to 48 years rate it 10/10 for sure. Hoping to do it again in the future, if they host the lights show again. #BostonLights

I was about 3 or 4 when my mother took me to Franklin Park Zoo. I loved it! When my daughter was around the same age when I took her there. These are some of my most precious memories w/her! I love FPZ because they treat the animals so well. It's clean. Reasonably priced and of course most of the money maintains the Zoo.

Whatta an awesome experience. The light show is really cool, you walk around the zoo and check out all these light sculptures, go through tunnel and paths full of lights. Great time for kids and family. Parking was a little difficult to find, but no big deal, we got there early. If you go on summer, make sure to bring some mosquito repellent

The zoo lights experience is a bucket list MUST DO! Since it is an outdoor event it is definitely a safe event to attend during the COVID pandemic. The lights are simply amazing. It is definitely better to go when it is dark, the colors are beautiful against the night sky. Still completely awe struck. Pricing for a family four pack is so reasonable, you cant afford to miss this awesome display!

We had tickets to go on Sunday . We bought them with someone else. We got sick and were waiting for Covid results and called them and they said to email with the information and we could get a refund. Turns out we couldn’t get most of the refund because we bought a four pack and a single ticket (understandable); but they would partially refund the single ticket. Yet they failed to continue to respond to us before the day our family went (Sunday). We followed up again and were they don’t do partial refunds in the same email chain as the original one that offered that. We tried to do the right thing and not show up somewhere sick, could provide Covid tests to show we were pending results, anything. When they have responded it’s been totally disorganized, contradictory, and now they’ve stopped responding all together. We probably would’ve rescheduled and gone some other time and been repeat customers since we are parents of toddlers but they’ve lost our business. We’ll go to a light show at another zoo. There are plenty.

Hi: Today my 1 year old baby and I went to the New England Zoo. At the petting Zoo I was told to put a mask on my 1!!! year old daughter. I requested to talk to a supervisor and he confirmed that even babies should put masks on. I told him that masks are choking hazards for babies and they can not require such thing. They should have the rule that 2 years olds and above only are allowed visit the petting zoo. He disagreed with me and told me to put a mask on my baby. I wonder if another mother follows his advice and puts a mask on her infant and infant suffocates as a result, would this supervisor or the zoo be legally responsible for the death of a child? This requirement goes against Federal regulations. Get Outlook for iOS

You'll have an amazing time here I've been here multiple times in my life and I just recently went on Sat and they changed the gorilla exhibit since I last was there now it's a lot bigger and it has a whole environment on the outside called Gorilla Grove and the 2 gorillas just recently had a newborn baby named Pablo and he was really cute lol everyone had fun watching him interact with his mom and playing with himself there's 5 or 6 gorrillas there and it was definitely my favorite exhibit I spend about an hour there alone and there's also a huge playground for the kids to run around in with slides swings and many other things you'll love all the other animals there too like the lions tigers giraffes red pandas etc fun for adults and kids side note: if you have an EBT ( food stamp ) card you can get in for $4 each person

The Light show of Boston Franklin Park Zoo was so amazing and beautiful to see. Since it started I always wanted to take my chances to go with my children and finally I got the opportunity to go.....I was so amazed at how each exhibit shadowed a different light portrait...They had food, drinks, booths to purchases items , games for the kids to play and they also had a few things that the kids can play on....If I had to recommend anyone I would say Make sure you get out and see the light exhibit before September 25th it is so worth the time and energy you spend there....I want to go again with myself just to enjoy the lights myself!!!! Great Job Franklin Park Zoo for hosted one of the Best light shows in New England!!!!!!

I visited the Franklin Park Zoo a few weeks ago in April 2023. While I have often visited Franklin Park in the past to run in cross country races, I had never gone inside the historic zoo. For the people of the Greater Boston area, this zoo is a great pastime for the community. The zoo is on the smaller side, so anticipate spending two or three hours walking around. Price of entry varies by day of the week, time of day, and purchasing in-person versus online. As from the date of publication, expect to pay between $17.95 and $25.95 for adults, $16.15 and $23.35 for seniors, $12.55 and $18.15 for children ages two to twelve, and free for children under two, Zoo New England Members, and family of employees of company that sponsor the zoo. (I happen to be in the final category.) Most of the zoo is accessible to wheelchair users, although the space could use more benches or other places to sit. The zoo works with KultureCity, an international organization focused on providing spaces for people with “sensory processing needs”, especially children with autism. Signs around the zoo indicated what areas were quiet places to decompress. As an adult with sensory processing issues, I appreciated the effort, but since the zoo is in the middle of a busy city, I could hear traffic noise from even the quiet zones, and the sensory bags were not designed for me as the end user. On a more positive note, the gift shop was excellent! Visitors can purchase zoo-related memorabilia at a wide range of price points. I recommend the Franklin Park Zoo for families of all ages in the Greater Boston area looking for a relaxing morning or afternoon.

Franklin zoo is great. Made for families. It feels more than a zoo. It's easily accessible, with hassle free parking, plenty of bathrooms, an awesome food court and best of all, the layout. There is a lot of space and it's a big park where you can walk and stop and see various animals. The best part for the kids is a multitude of various playgrounds throughout the entire zoo. There are different themes and opportunities to learn as well as relax. Definitely a wonderful destination with children.

FPZ is a lovely place to spend an afternoon. If you have young kids, they will love the petting zoo and the animals! Need somewhere for them to release a little energy? Head to the playground which is a big hit for kids. Adults can enjoy a clean, paved walk around each area to visit and bird lovers will enjoy the aviary!

I visited here today with my family. It's a really nice zoo, and the animals were great! It wasn't too crowded, which was good as some rooms were small and humid. My daughter loved the animals and was delighted to see the red panda! I would recommend it for a nice family outing but not go during summer as it is extremely hot and tiring.

This review is for the lights only. I absolutely loved, loved, loved this experience. The lights were fantastic/ beautiful. They did an excellent job of making you feel like you were walking through different worlds. I deffinatly recommend to go when it's dark out so you get the full effect of the light show. You will want to take pictures. Can't wait for next year! Also, respect that the zoo animals were not out. They would have been very stressed.

Spent a little over an hour walking around for the light exhibit tonight. They have plenty of food and drinks, even beer available. We opted for fried dough and lemonade - the lemonade did not taste fresh but the fried dough was hot and satisfying. The fried dough was $9 and the lemonade was $5 for a medium and $8 for a large. My friend got us the tickets so I don’t know how much those were. Plenty of kids around but enough space that they were able to run around without getting in anyone’s personal space. There were several photo spots to take your picture with the light figures - pandas, dragons, sloths, giraffes, sharks, snakes, and more. They have different sections inspired by the ocean, Egypt, China, and more. The traffic flows one way. We were able to buy tickets at the gate on a Friday night at 8pm without waiting in line. Lots of families and people on dates. Great time to microdose a little mushrooms, hypothetically.

We have been going to the zoo for many years and have always enjoyed it, however, we're disappointed by our most recent visit. Certain sections of the zoo are closed and many of the animals were missing from the cages/enclosures. They should be reducing the ticket price or letting people know ahead of time that there is limited access so that people are aware of the changes.

We went to see Boston Lights. It was really stunning! Very nice setting for a romantic date or even a nice family event. Very creative and beautiful. They kept a limited amount of people so it was easy to social distance. Masks were worn by everyone at all times. One thing, is it would be nice if they put a light for you to stand on, beneath the big wings. That way, you can see the person better in a photo. Still awesome though. The only negative is that there are clearly signs all about asking you to please not touch anything. Yet, there were too many people touching things and even climbing the ropes to get close to the installations to get pictures. If we can take pictures from the designated areas, then why can't they? There really isn't a whole lot that we can do these days, and people who think the rules don't apply to them could ruin it for the rest of us. I would hate to see that because this is such a lovely idea and I'm so happy we could go!

Small but nice zoo surrounded by a large woodland public park with picnic tables and some large open grassy areas as well. Near an urban lower cost neighborhood. With plenty of parking and access to public transportation. Many fun family events and great for younger children as it does not take too much walking or many hours to see all the animals and exhibits. Great short day trip for children and adult animal lovers. Not a shabby depressing zoo or large and fancy. Just a decent smaller middle of the road zoo for urban city dwellers and visitors.

Love the zoo, even in the winter we got to see the lions, tiger, zebras, camels, congors, and plenty of other interesting birds. The online reservation system kept it from being crowded, so we never had to fight for a spot, and it’s nice how much more affordable tickets are than the aquarium. The main burger/chicken finger place was open with reduced indoor seating and plenty outside, and we liked the classic food :) Random other things: reservations can be shown by phone, did not see any giraffes, the indoor “rainforest” monkey exhibits and bird world were closed because of covid19

Went in the fall, some habitats were closed, but the ones that were open had active animals and the habitats allowed you to be relatively close. There were much fewer habitats than I had thought there would be, but non the less fun and interesting. My 4yr old loved it and loved playing in the really cool playground. Parking was plentiful and kinda close. The park offers food(burgers and such) , but we didn't stop for any.

My kids love the zoo. The animals are lovingly cared for by the keepers and they have successfully bred many of the endangered and threatened species in the zoo. During the COVID crisis, the zoo operates on a reduced capacity so be sure to reserve a spot ahead of time - they fill up quick.

I really want to like this place and support it, but based on my experience, it's really hard to do that. I took my three kids there the other day, and spent over $100 on tickets and food. Almost every restroom was "out of order", there was construction going on everywhere, and a lot of exhibits were closed "due to construction". Might have been bad timing on our part, but there was no warning that this would be our experience.

The Cincinnati Zoo does an excellent job of making its visitors feel safe during COVID: Mask mandates, timed tickets, and lots of hand sanitizer. The PNC lights this year we’re also great, and it was so nice that they were extended!

Took a final stroll around the beautiful grounds of the Cincinnati Zoo before the opening of the Festival of Lights on Friday afternoon. Lots of animal activity including Fiona the hippest of hippos and a ball of cozy meerkats. The lights looked great in the daylight so they should be dazzling in the dark. Go and enjoy this wonderful icon of Cincinnati. You will not be disappointed.

This is one of the best zoos I've seen. Every year Cincinnati zoo is introducing new exhibits and activities to improve customer' experiences. One of the best zoos ever!! As an animal lover and animal care professional, I've been to Zoological institutions from Miami to San Diego and everywhere in-between; and this zoo is hands down my absolute favorite. The animals are healthy and the exhibits are beautiful. The staff is friendly and absolutely dedicated to the well-being and enrichment of every individual creature in their care. You can see it in the way the animals are bright and curious even with guests they've never met! They will interact and exhibit species specific behaviors especially if you visit early in the day! Truly an amazing gift to the community!

We had a great time, even though the Plains was closed due to snow. We enjoyed the dolphin show, but were disappointed that half of the show was about how we can save the ocean. We got the important message in the introduction video, which we totally agree with. However, the show is only 20 minutes long and we only got to see the dolphins for maybe 10 minutes. Our youngest lost interest once the dolphins were gone. Disappointing. It wasn't like this in the past. They would have a great conservation message and then the show began.

  • 3/5 Charmaine D H. 3 years ago on Google
My favorite zoo...so far. Just the right size. Dolphin exhibit was beautiful...however I will say it wasn't as special like I thought it would be. They were just swimming, a lot of times out if sight.

We went on Martin Luther King Jr.'s birthday because that's the only time this family of 13 can afford to go. It was super cold, but we still enjoyed our time there. The safari lands were closed, unfortunately. They're also expanding the attractions; hippos will be added later this year. I can really see how enjoyable I it would be in the warmer months.

We went to the Indianapolis Zoo during the off season, so that combined with Covid 19 restrictions means that a large portion of the exhibits were closed. This meant for a short trip to what is already a small, compact urban zoo. The dolphin experience was very cool though, and was worth the visit just by itself.

Great for entrance to be free on Dr Martin Luther King Jr's birthday, but... Very cold out and lightly snowing all day. Not allowed to eat lunch inside out of the weather. The elephants and girraffs were inaccessible. People had to wait outside in the cold weather in lines to enter exhibits in buildings. However, the exhibits we did see were great. The dolphins were tremendous! The exotic birds were spectacular, the orangutans were very entertaining.

Christmas at the zoo was lovely and a great way to have some family time without too much covid risk. Obviously not all animals are active in the winter and at night, so we didn't get to see giraffes, elephants and such. But it was really nice. There were some lines to get into the inside exhibits but they moved quickly. Much less crowded due to covid.

  • 4/5 Tracey A. 3 years ago on Google
Christmas at the Zoo was beautiful (as always). There were quite a few people attending the event (actually all sold out when we went). This is one of the largest zoo I’ve ever had the chance to visit. Essex county turtle back zoo is huge and during these uncertain times, is well prepared to handle people while abiding the guidelines in regards to social distancing and masks. There were signs all over to not touch the glass walls and maintain appropriate distance. Even before you enter, there was this large tent to check your body temperature. You have to buy tickets online and the price for an adult is around $17 while for kids it’s $14 for general admission. They also have a membership which would have different pricing (please do check online because prices may vary). You also have to pick your time of arrival and can’t be late than 30 minutes of your posted time of arrival on your ticket. The online ticket process was a little broken when we tried but we still managed to get a few when everything was working. Also, they close at 3pm so you might want to plan a day trip accordingly. Let’s talk about the zoo itself. It’s huge and has lots of places to explore. There were flamingoes, lions, bisons, sea lions, chickens, horses and everything else that you’d expect from a zoo. They have a reptile only place as well as underwater viewing of sea lions which were fantastic. There were also a lot of places that weren’t open for the public due to the ongoing pandemic but rest assured, you won’t be disappointed to explore tons of other places and animals within this zoo. The food options were limited (as expected) and to be honest, weren’t at all good. We went to this Savana cafe to try something out. To begin with, we didn’t have a lot of options since by the time we went at around 2pm, the staff told us that they were closed and the food that was on display was the only thing they could offer and so we got what was left there - chicken tenders, fries, grilled chicken burger and hot cocoa. The food was soggy due to the pre packaging and wasn’t that good. The only good thing out of this was the hot cocoa. If you’re planning to have a dine in experience (which you shouldn’t given the current circumstances), you will be disappointed. Overall, this is great place to enjoy with family and kids and will entertain you for hours. If you’ve never been to a zoo and want to experience one, this place should be on your bucket list ✅

Even as an adult I’d enjoy coming here with no kids just to be outside. PLUS free admission if you bring stuff to donate! total win win being outside, kid friendly, lots of space, lots of different things to do and experience!

This is such a wonderful place to see many animals that you wouldn't ever get this close to anywhere else. I do have a hard time seeing the small spaces that several animals are alotted; esp the cats. I hope that an expansion is planned for them as there seems to be plenty of acreage for it. It's still a nice place to spend a couple of hours wandering around.

WOW! I absolutely love animals, especially all kinds of cats (including big cats). Went here with my girlfriend and it was absolutely a blast seeing the animals! You can buy some food for the goats and hand feed them! You can also pet the stingrays! So cute! Its very tiny, and you can go through the whole zoo in about a few hours, but it's so fun!

The zoo is great. The enforcement of masks is severely lacking. We've been multiple times since spring and besides the train ride employees no one was enforcing masks being worn.

Even though there were lots if renovations being done, and covid restrictions in place, they did a wonderful job directing you around the park to see everything. Lot of close encounters with thr animals which the kids love. Great job. Not very expensive either. 45 fit kids and 1 adult and we were there for 3 hours.

We had a great time at the Zoo and Aquarium! Animals look well cared for and happy. Great viewing spots at the enclosures. The meerkats are always a favourite and the giraffes are wonderful to view in two enclosures. Great coffee at the entrance cafe. And plenty of great places to rest along the way. We brought our own lunch and sat at a table and watched the birds. Can't recommend it enough. (Recommend between 5-6 hours for a complete relaxed circuit to see everything)

This zoo is a treasure in Canberra. While most Australian cities have zoos, this one has a level of intimacy and maturity to it that is rarely replicated elsewhere in the country. There are rare and exotic species from all over the world, and it is evident that there is very good care taken to ensure that all the occupants and residents are healthy and in good spirits. The older, original portion of the zoo has the “lion’s share” of animal types, and you can see a lot while traveling a relatively short distance. Sometimes the pathways are a bit confusing here, and you might find yourself at a dead end here and there, but all in all it’s pretty great. The recent expansion area however, is simply stunning, and enables visitors to see animals in huge enclosures! It’s super quiet too in many places, and I have worked on my computer many times while just sitting on a bench in front of some giraffes or cheetahs, and have hardly been disturbed by the comings and going’s of people elsewhere. It’s a great escape for an afternoon! Calling itself a zoo AND aquarium is a bit of a misnomer, the Aquarium is just a single room with some large fish tanks, and can easily be missed or forgotten, but all in all, it is a good experience that should not be ignored in a visit to or around Canberra.

  • 5/5 Bucky S. 3 years ago on Google
Had a great time returning to the zoo for the first time in years. The animals all appeared very loved, and had huge enclosures with lots of places to hide and chill. I especially loved to see the beautiful rhinos, the ostriches, and my personal favourite animal, the huge humphead wrasse who I remember seeing as a child. I love that big blue guy. New cafe/garden area was also really nice and not too expensive which was a relief. One feedback I would offer to the zoo is to start pairing back on the plastic plants if possible - would love to see more real plants (but this is a me issue). Looking forward to visiting again soon, and considering purchasing a membership.

Definitely one of the best zoos in the country. I love how much space and natural vegetation the animals have. We did the Roar experience and loved it. Our guide was so knowledgeable, funny and helpful through the tour. We learnt so much and we made some fantastic memories. The recent upgrades look fantastic and I can’t wait to stay overnight on our next visit.

  • 5/5 Shelley D. 3 years ago on Google
Brilliant zoo. Pros - The animal encounters they offer are rather unique and add an extra thrill to your day, if you're willing to pay for them - The numbering system that you are encouraged to follow to guide you around the zoo is a good idea, albeit a little confusing in places - They have the best giraffe enclosure. Instead of looking up at the giraffes like other zoos you look down and see everything! - Very helpful and friendly staff To consider.. - Not a lot of toilets to be found - Not a lot of food outlets and those that were there were full to the brim and the kiosks were out of food. Busy day I guess! - Love the idea of a sausage sizzle in the school holidays but it was very slow But go and enjoy a day at the zoo, it's exercise, education and family bonding time all in one!

We called about taking preschoolers, confirmed ages and what we’d need to pay. When we arrived they had “changed their policies” and “hadn’t trained all their staff properly” and we ended up having to pay an extra $500 on the spot for our kids group that wasn’t stated in any of the previous communication - or tell all the preschoolers we couldn’t go (I don’t have the heart to let them down so we paid out of pocket). Not to mention the small size of enclosures and the lack of animals. This zoo in general is just a sad environment. But don’t worry on the way out of your expensive visit don’t forget to visit the very run down over priced cafe and the shop that’ll really blow the bank. Maybe our money goes to make merchandise they sell, because it’s not going into the animals that’s clear.

Decided to visit for the first time. Very impressive zoo. A wide variety of animals. I was a little dissapointed because they didn't have any talk-shows about any of the animals and it's Sunday when people usually come. I wouldn't call the aquarium a proper aquarium as there weren't many tanks. On the way walking there were signs indicating there are many sharks, we barely saw one. The very nice part of the aquarium, there was a huge blue fish in a big tank. With all this being said it was a good zoo not a very complicated map and you can easily see everything in 3-4 hours.

We visit both zoos frequently, so getting an annual family membership saves us a lot of money. The zoo wasn't crowded at all, and we almost never had to wait or stand in a line to see any animals. The Gorilla's were in their outdoor enclosure, and you literally got to sit right next to them with just safety glass in-between. The newest baby is ADORABLE!

A lot of animals were off display, I presume this was due to the heat at the time of our visit, but it was still slightly disappointing. Still, the animals we did see, including the Lion, Red Panda, and others, were fun. Quite a few interactive elements and playgrounds for kids, if you're looking for that. The light festival stuff they were setting up looked cool too. The new gorilla enclosure looks great, it's too bad there weren't any gorillas in it, haha.

Terrible customer service, horribly unprofessional. I'll be contacting the BBB because paying full price for a hour of time is a pointless purchase. 0/10 will never go back.

The Light show of Boston Franklin Park Zoo was so amazing and beautiful to see. Went with my daughters ages 7 & 9. They LOVE it’s and had a lot of fun. This year they have a great display. They had food, drinks, booths to purchases items, games for the kids to play with and play on. I want to go again with myself just to enjoy the lights myself! Try to go on the weekdays as in the weekend is packed. Available until October 23rd 6pm to 10:30pm Free parking around the Zoo, valet parking for $20

Great zoo, small enough to do in one day, large enough to go back to for more. Large playground that kids love (and may be more fun then the animals...) And smaller play structures throughout the park. No petting zoo at the moment.

Visited the Franklin Park Zoo for the lights event - it was extremely family friendly and was inclusive for those with sensory sensitivities. Lots of beautiful displays to enjoy, take pictures with, and climb underneath. 10/10 will come back again next year!

Went here on a trip up to Boston was so excited, get highly disappointed. These animals looked terrible … like they’re hardly cared for sitting in dirty water and garbage in their habitats. As well as the main attraction that most go for the giraffes were no where to be found. Very disappointed and paid a great amount just to see disgusting habits and untaken care of animals. And not to mention there was a dead roach on the floor … roaches means dirty. These poor animals. They need help.

  • 5/5 Olivia J. 7 months ago on Google
the boston lights exhibit was worth it! so much better than i anticipated. there are a lot of cool exhibits. fun for adults and kids.

  • 4/5 Alex S. 7 months ago on Google
Park territory is huge, the exhibition is very informative, a lot of information is provided in a written form with a good illustrations. The distance between visitors and animals is quite short and still comfortable. The collection mostly represented by Australian and African animals. The bad: some of the aviaries are located far away from the visitors and there either no clear path to get closer, or the path is closed with a barriers. Few aviaries are simply unobservable because of the plants growing in the fences (sea eagle for instance). Interestingly, if you visit the park by day you will not be able to watch the light show, and coming by night you will have no chance to actually see the animals. It is not bad, it is just something to keep in mind. Overall this is a good place to visit and I sincerely recommend it.

  • 5/5 Sara T. 7 months ago on Google
The zoo is small, but the exhibits are very nice. The animals have a lot of space, and the zoo is accredited by the Association of Zoos and Aquariums which was really important to me. There is plenty of space for people to walk around, and the zoo is very family friendly. The lanterns in the daytime were very fun and pretty, but I will be going back next month to see them at night!

  • 4/5 Tiffany M. 7 months ago on Google
It’s a zoo with a good environment for the animals to stay. My favorite part is the interactive part with the sheep, where visitors can cuddle and comb them. However, they didn’t have enough types of animals as I expected. The price was a bit high since we had only half day (until noon) to visit today (8/26).

  • 5/5 Humaira G. 6 months ago on Google
There wasn’t much crowd because we visited on a weekday.Went there with my 2 toddlers and we had so much fun seeing all the animals like Gorillas,Giraffes, lion very closely..plenty of space to sit around ….staff is very friendly..My kids couldn’t just stop talking how much fun they had..will definitely come again!

I had not been here in many years I would say since 2010 and I was happy with the zoo and the animals that I saw so this year I was more excited to bring my kids for the experience. It is a drive I am from New Hampshire so it took us two hours to get there, but I thought it was worth it. The lion was out although it was sad because he kept making noises because his Brother had died a couple weeks ago. I was very pleased to see that the Gorillas had an outdoor enclosure now not just indoors, so they look much happier being able to see the world. I was a little bummed they did not have flamingos they had gotten rid of them or gave them to another zoo. The playground was close not sure if it was because it was raining so it was a safety issue, but the playgrounds were close, so that was a bummer. Only one food place was open, Giddy Up grill which was not great either. I had kids so it would’ve been very helpful to have another place available to eat instead of walking all the way back to almost the beginning the prices are very high it is like $28 for adults and like 13 for kids so it is very expensive but check with your library because that’s what I did and our tickets are only $9. Everything was trimmed so that you could see inside the cages everything was cleaned including bathrooms if I had to recommend going, I would definitely say go during the week because it’s not so busy and you can really take your time and see everything.

Great for kids. Pretty big. There is free parking (giraffe entrance and zebra entrance). Unfortunately the lion Kaia died the day we went. Both lions are getting very old and they are probably at the end of their lives. We did not see any giraffe though. Where did the giraffe go guys? We only saw a plastic giraffe multiple times. Bring the giraffe back it will bring more to the zoo.

We visited the zoo twice. During the day a traditional walk around to see the animals. Zoo is not massive and we spent around 2 hours walking around. We then went back in the evening for the 'lights' experience that was also happening which was an amazing 1.5 hours.

Visited on Halloween midday, many of the live animals weren't available, and some exhibits were under construction, so all I had were these from their night displays that were still up, and I took pictures. Maybe next time I visit I'll see what an actual zoo with live wildlife looks like.

We went to Boston Lights on 10/28. The kids, my husband and I loved it. I lost my wallet at some point and a good Samaritan turned it in with everything there. Thank you to that person and the Zoo staff who helped point me in the right direction. Been to Boston Lights for a few years now and will continue the tradition.

I have never been to the zoo. I had a blast. Very big clean. We just happen to go down during the Boston lights festival so we got to see them all. Unfortunately we didn't go at night time but it looks absolutely amazing. Definitely suggest everyone get over there before the end of October and make it a night trip and see those lights lit up. Y'all would have so much fun.
