Where else can you find the site of a former farm, pickle factory and Revolution-era powder house all in one? And throw in a slide for good measure. This quiet park is an oasis in a densely populated city- full of grass, trees, stone walls, stone steps and a stone tower. The varied elevation makes it great fun for kids to explore the nooks and crannies of the park. They can try to find the tri-cornered hat, the sheep, the slide. And of course it's great for just sitting on a wall, a bench or the grass.

Such a beautiful park and the trees are so old and massive. I kept hugging them to test their size lol. Sure onlookers thought I was crazy lol.

One of the more tranquil spots in Somerville. It's a good place for picnics or just sitting under a shade tree. It has some real historical significance as well as the whimsical statues and plaques scattered around will tell you.

A lil worn for wear. There is a fabulous slide! Shhh! The structure, though, is phenomenal. The use of this to store gunpowder. I couldn't imagine being near while loaded.....

Small park on Tufts campus. Bring a blanket and enjoy some quality people watching. The traffic makes it a little busier than I'd like to see in a park, but that's life in a city for you.

It's a very nice spot to either sit on a bench, relax, walk a dog or mosy around just a bit. It's not big at all, you can walk through rather quickly, 5-10 min or so or choose to walk along the varying small paths and perimeter to see the whole park or go up to the tower or around the actual powderhouse building and hill area or just stroll along the grassy sides or even walk among the beautiful trees there. It is small enough to see it all in minutes but big enough to feel like you've got some breathing room in the city. Very peaceful place, historic and beautiful also.

We love this park. It is beautiful in every season. There are multiple events held here throughout the year. You can stroll along the rim of the park and enjoy porch fest. Kids go sledding in the winter. Tight rope walkers and other groups use the trees for training. I have seen wedding parties and other groups taking pictures. There are multiple food establishments so you won't go hungry. The park could use a small bathroom. It is popular with people who like to lay in the grass all day. And it could use places for flowers. Over all it is a wonderful place to spend the day.

There's a lot of shade offered by the trees. Wonderful children activities too.

Great place to relax with plenty of shade. Love watching all the dogs. On top of that, it's a nice little piece of history. Just across the street is Tufts University and better yet, Noor Mediterranean Grill.
