Came here tonight for karaoke. I asked the bartender for Allagash and he recommended Shock Top since they didn't carry it. I gotta admit, it's pretty good... First time trying it and I like the citrus richness and the overall smooth taste. You can never underestimate the value of a bartender who knows his craft... Priceless... Thanks Chris! 👍👍👍👍

Small bar with live music. Apparently it gets quite busy, but on a Saturday night in July it was quite dead. The band playing was okay but the sound setup was pretty terrible. There was a chill vibe, no fee to get in. Got a couple of drinks and enjoyed the music. It was really hot inside.

Cantab is a neighborhood gem! Soulful live music, reasonably priced drink options, free coat rack in the back, friendly staff and always a fun crowd. Chicken Slacks (featured in the video here) perform most Thursday nights @ 10–highly recommend!

Deserves more than 4 for sure. There’s an entry charge (which they call cover for some reason) if you come in late, but the live music is well worth 6 bucks. All cash place, but there’s an ATM inside or so I’ve been told. Come here with a bunch of friends, you’ll have a great time!

The positive parts of Cantab include that it’s typically less crowded than 730 Tavern, is near Central Square metro stop, available tap water, modest size, and live music. The negative parts are the entry cover even on an early weeknight, sticky floors, overly loud music, and adults who ask for tips for their dancing. The cover is not even in whole dollars; it’s $10.50.

Great place! especially when the band called "Perfect Example" is performing. You meet alloy of decent people. Bar tenders are kool and friendly and the owner gets involved with the crowds too. They should buy next door and open it up more. Man it will be record settings club.

It’s like super divy and local townie bar and the atmosphere is unlike anything in Cambridge - take that as you will. Good live music. Five stars.

I did not eat at this location, but the bar was very friendly. LGBTQ+ friendly, poetry night was incredibly fun, environment was very inviting. Bathroom could be slightly cleaner. 4.5/5 (I did not eat here.)

I was recently back in Central Square for the first time in years. Was delighted to find that the Cantab Lounge hasn't changed a bit! Great vibe, live music, cheap beers, a tinge of diveiness (in a good way). Keep on rockin ⚡

Great bar. It has kind of an old-school vibe that's very welcome, especially in a city as expensive as Cambridge. The prices are super reasonable, and the music and performances are usually solid. Depending on the night it can be very crowded or very chill, but it's always worth checking out.

A must go to if you are in the area and want a real feel of the way things used tobe in Cambridge. Great live music is often here and actually reasonably priced drinks especially for the area

What a fun place to drink, dance and listen to live music. Highly recommended.

Same as it ever was. I have memories of it from 50 years ago. It deserves attention from a historian or a sociologist. It's a window into Central Square's continuity over decades of change.

Drinks are fine, music is fine. The amount of creeps there though grabbing people without there consent is absolutely disgusting. Glad to say I'll never be back there again. I was willing to make an exception because customers are external factors but when I heard those creeps were regulars and even the bouncer knew them? HELL NO

Great underground spot for standup comedy, open mic nights and more. Cover for comedy is $15, but you get your money's worth and cards are accepted for it

The Cantab Lounge was awesome. It's been a few years since I last patron the lounge but still offers a good experience. My preference is upstairs with the live band. Downstairs is good with the DJ but a younger crowd. Cantab offers something for everyone and a good atmosphere. The mixed drinks are excellent!

Kylie was amazing! She was wonderful to work with for a private event we held here. You cannot go wrong with her!

Great place to listen to live music and grab a beer! Also love that they are one of the only places on the street that you can walk right into and typically not pay a cover fee.

As someone who was raised in Cambridge and spent a fair amount of time in my fathers bar in central square… I was so pleased with the Cantab and how they have maintained the vibes. Highly recommend 10/10

Had my sister's bachelorette party at the underground and it was amazing. The space was clean with lots of lighting options and comfortable seating options and a wonderful stage/light audio set up for the performers we hired. The best part though was our bartender, Kylie! She was so nice and so helpful to us and the performers. She was really fun and made really really great drinks. If you're planning an event I cannot recommend her at the Cantab enough. She's phenomenal. While you're there, if you like fruity drinks, get her to make you a Blue Hawaiian!
