I’ve been a member here for over a year now so I feel I’m in a good position to leave an accurate review. I will try and the short and to the point. Short version: I come here for the atmosphere and the friendships I’ve made with the PTs, facilities are great never a long wait for anything even at peak times. Theres pricing for a monthly member with a pay-as-you-go option, but full-time members get free parking. More in-depth review below. Facilities: A great selection of cardio and weight equipment, with two or three new machines having been added since my membership. The staff seem very on top of maintaining and replacing equipment; and even at peak times I’ve never had to wait very long for a piece of equipment . There are dozens of classes going on throughout the week, and Sofia runs the Milon programme which seems very popular. I’ve never personally taken a class but they take place either on the gym floor or in one of the studio rooms. Having observed some of the classes going on in the morning the PTs seem motivated and seem to respond well to the members and they leave looking absolutely knackered. There is a good size pool, again I don’t go there often but there are many classes and also three swimming lanes, I’m not sure if they’re designated swim times for young children or not . Staff: I can personally say that I have made great friends with many of the PTs, Kieran the fitness manager, Ben, Jess, Harry, Sofia are all lovely lovely people, extremely knowledgeable, and even if they’re occupied they always seem to make time for people with questions or people wanting advice. Even if they’re just walking the gym floor if they see that you are unsure or perhaps doing something that would risk injury, they’ll come and have a quiet chat. I’ll be moving away from the area, but I will make the drive back to this gym because it’s such a friendly and vibrant atmosphere. Price: As a full member depending on what promotion is on you can expect to pay between £45 and £55 if you go to the gym more than three times a week it’s best to become a full member rather than Pay As You Go as the monthly cost works out cheaper, I signed up doing a promotion so I didn’t have to pay a joining fee these promotions seem to run fairly often so always worth asking. Based on what the gym has, and the people who work here I would say this gym is very good value for money. And full members get free parking.

Visited here with my son for a swim. Passed reception and no one said anything. Was in the pool 10minutes and a girl came in and told me we had to leave. I asked why she didn't mention anything when we passed her at the door. She said that it was private member time and no children allowed. I told her I would leave in 5 minutes. She then sent her colleague in who said he would call the police if I didn't leave. Needless to say I have cancelled my membership with them after almost 3 years. The place is absolutely stinking. Changing rooms are revolting. Staff are as useful as a chocolate teapot.

We had a rather negative experience using their services. Booked some swimming lessons for our 3 y.o and paid almost 80£ for a block of lessons which we couldn't use. Our daughter was assigned in a group of 4 children which were about 6-7 y.o(we didn't know that when we booked as we assumed it will be a starter group). I've tried to explain to the instructor that this might be challenging for our daughter since she never had any lessons before to which he replied that it might be better to get private lessons 1 to 1 or come back when she gets older. I agreed and took her home. The very next day I have tried to get in contact for a refund to which I was told they can't do it (their policy I assume). I have also tried to use those money towards another service ( 1 month at the gym for my wife) and I was told they can't do a one month pass ( I do understand that but I guess in this circumstance to avoid any conflicts they could make an exception). The only option was to bring our daughter back when she gets older which I of course refused as we got her into another swimming club at a different location. As a conclusion I basically got ripped with no options. Thanks for reading this.

I have been a gym member now for several years; this is purely because of the proximity to my home. The staffs are friendly and professional; however the general management of the gym is shambolic, for example during this summer holiday our children could not swim purely because the gym had no life guards. This very evening I booked by adult session and made my way to the gym at 17.30 just to be told the gym is closing for Bank holiday at 1800, apparently they did not know how to update the app. Equipment: The television on the Bike/Cross trainer and so on does not work, why because the television license has not been paid, and when the equipment breaks or fails permission is needed from the owner. The Stepper has been broken for 9 weeks/Leg press six weeks, the preacher curl bench has black tape to cover up the wear and tear. The squat rack we take WD40 and spray the frame so it does not stick. But if you are looking for a budget gym look no further than no thrills River bourne health club who make the rules up as they go along.

I phone up to find out what time they close the pool...... 18:00 I drive 20 minutes but I get there for 16:00 Oh, but the pool is closed for children at 15:30 That's right, I didn't ask what time it closed for children.

I went in yesterday to pay for a 10 day trial membership. They said they would need to take a photo of me but the camera wasn't working. Nobody said anything about my membership being on hold until I got my photo taken. I called the reception to tell them that I couldn't make any booking today and that's when they explained this to me. They said they are sorting it out now for me and send me a link for a new password for the application. The link came in and I reset my password. Guess what! This time I got to find out that the valid date they have put on my membership was 13 July so the app wasn't letting me book anything as it said the membership expired! I had to call the reception again to explain! They corrected it in the end! Not only was there no apology for this but the receptionist was rude too. The membership manager I met in person yesterday also didn't seem to know what he was doing. I am glad I got to find out about all this while I am on my ten day trial membership. I will of course not renew the membership. I would avoid this place for good! They don't seem to know what they are doing!

Having undergone hip replacement surgery after years of immobility due to chronic pain, I am now very self conscious about how unfit and out of shape I am. So being able to engage in some "gentle swimming in a friendly safe environment" seemed an ideal place to start getting fit again, and regaining my self esteem. Hence I took the plunge (scuse the pun) & signed up for membership at River Bourne. On the advice of staff, I arrived for my first swim after 8pm 'when it was quiet' and although there were a few others swimming as well, it was pretty quiet as advised & I left feeling very encouraged - managing to swim 12 lengths of the pool in the slow lane. So feeling encouraged & keen to do the same again, I came back the very next evening. Except this time, I found the slow lane occupied by a clearly proficient swimmer, who seemed to be getting very loudly barked at to go faster, by someone I can only assume was a trainer of some kind. The other lanes were also taken, by more of the same clearly proficient swimmers, who I feared - had I felt brave enough to trying sharing lanes with them - might well have capsized me upon passing. This left the 'general swimming' area where to my dismay, I could see more proficient swimmers, along with some others, which seemingly didn’t leave much room for me. So with limited options, I was left trying to swim in the remaining narrow gap, (alongside the shortest length of the pool where the steps are), feeling like the village idiot who really should have known better than to try & crash the cool people's party. I felt about as welcome as a fart in a space suit, not to mention, ridiculous, out of shape & slow - No doubt no-one else's issue, except mine and the luck of the draw, but still not exactly the friendly environment for some gentle swimming I thought I had subscribed to. Anyhoo four very short, self conscious & discouraging lengths later, I was out the door. and as of then, I'm still undecided whether to return. Suffice to say, should I decide not to, knowing I'll have to continue paying what I could ill afford in the first place, to risk feeling even more of what I was trying to overcome, is disheartening to say the least. 😞

I gave up my membership after they told me the new conditions for using the complex, they did not suit me personally, as many other members found out, but they still withdrew from my account. I made many attempts to contact the management, but did not want to even get an answer, not to mention the money. I realized that I was not the only one dissatisfied with the club. I want to prevent other people from getting hurt !!! these people have not understood one basic and golden rule in business, namely, that the customer is always right, because without it, they will not exist !!!

Arrived on my first day and nobody showed me around or even told me where the changing rooms are. Tried to connect to treadmills but that functionality isn’t available and was told to use the guest function which means you cannot save your logins and preferences. Tried to book classes but asks me to add my username and password which hasn’t been provided to me. There is also nowhere on their app or website which allows you to register. Committed for a year but a sour taste introduction. Hopefully over time it gets better.

It would benefit from a total upgrade of the female changing rooms and showers. They look tired and dated. Otherwise lovely, friendly club with good instructors and decent equipment.

The staff is very friendly. No complaints at all about the staff. They ensure you are ok whilst training, but leave you alone if you are zoning into your workout. Perfect. The facilities are not clean though. The ladies' changing room is cold and wet. In other gyms there are more frequent cleaners. The pool side is cleaned regularly though.

Me and my wife have been a gold member for almost a year now. We love almost everything about this place and to name a few: The gym is fantastic but of course not perfect and as mentioned in other reviews the gym could do better with a refurbish. And it looks a bit like council manager rather than privately managed. But most of the equipments work well and we particularly like the milon circuit training which comes free with a gold membership. My wife loves many of the free sessions that are available to members like zumba, circuit training, salsa dance, etc. I have gone to the hatha yoga on many Sundays along with my wife and we both found it to be very useful and rejuvenating. My kid goes to jiu jitsu on Wednesdays in the evening and swimming lessons on Thursdays in the evening. Again, fantastic teachers and my kid has gone a long way now in swimming, special thanks to his coach Luke. In general, all the staff are very polite with a pleasing attitude. Surprisingly the cafe is great for a cafe thats inside a health club, we especially love the hot chocolate and the panini. We have been eating there for quite long that we become friends with the staff there, again they are all very polite and nice to all customers. The swimming pool is 4 metres throughout and we love it so much that we can leave the kids on their own sometimes in the pool and have a nice swim ourselves for a nice workout. Speaking of which, they also have a session that takes place in the swimming pool which teaches you to use weights in eater thereby helping you lose more calories, my wife attended that once and was all in praises about it. This has a become a hangout place for our family particularly in the winter months and we visit the cafe whenever we come to the library which is very close by. One minor complaint is that the cafe gets very busy in the evenings filled with chatty parents occupying all the seats and most of them are not members and doesn’t even buy anything from the cafe. As per the club policy which is written outside in a board, the children had to be dropped off at the reception for their classes/sessions and then collected back from the reception after their session. But none of the parents seem to care about that and the club doesn’t even enforce that. They could at least consider buying something from the cafe as it would help generate some revenue for them. Overall, we are very satisfied with our membership here. We moved to Chertsey from Staines just a couple of years ago and there are many good things in Chertsey to like and the riverbourne club is definitely one of the strongest.

Great friendly place and good value for your money! I am a member at this place for 16 years now. Yes, there are some things to criticise here(as anywhere else)... but, so far, could not find a replacement to match: the facilities here; friendliness of both staff and the fellow members; professionalism of the Gym trainers and the Class' instructors and(the last but not the least!) - the general feel of the place! So, please do come here!!

The swimming pool water is always extremely dirty as they don't require swimming cap. You need to book a swimming slot in advance but people before your slot still can remain in the pool. Copmletely no logic here. to None of the hair dryer works due to the covid situation. I really dont see how this 2 things are connected but as they wish.

Decently equipped gym, clear area for free weights exercise machines and cardio machines. Dumbbells upwards of 45kg. General gym goers seem quite friendly which is as important as the equipment, nothing like ego getting in the way of your workout.

This is a serious message to someone who is going to join The River Bourne Club. I'm a member of The River Bourne Club and it's been 18 days. This August I'm going for medical treatment. When I joined the club, I gave the option for the payment of every 8th of the month. But today (25-7-2023) I found that my money has been debited from my account (£30). So today itself I went to the club and asked a lady in the reception named Elise, she said that it's the way and a refund will not be provided. I talked very politely to her but she was very rude to me. Other colleagues said she was frustrated. I told her before that I'm new to this country and I'm not good at English. She said there is no refund policy. I accepted her and asked her to move that money to the October month payment she said she can't. I asked for the manager's email and she didn't give me. Also another lady in the reception I don't know her name, she was also rude to me. They are saying that is no refund policy in their terms and condition but I asked for that they were unable to show me the policy but yh there is a policy that activation fees will not be refunded. I'm not asking them about the activation fees. Today when I checked the Google reviews I found that I'm not only the person complaining about this gym. It's my fault that I didn't check these reviews before joining this gym. I told another lady ( Not Elise) that there is a lot of negative review against this club and she said they don't care about them. This is not the way to say. I'm telling you that if you have any complaints, they will never accept you and in my personal opinion, this club is so bad and I lost my money honestly. I would never give even one star to this club.

Absolute dump, trained on and off here for about 15 years or more, equipment falling apart not maintained, benches got bits missing and materials all ripped, same equipment from when I was here when I was 18, I'm now 33, not enough weight plates usually have to go hunting, not enough equipment in general for amount of members, never anyone in the gym putting equipment back left by other members, only still train here because of location to my house and huge carpark, this please needs a big cash injection.

A great gym absolutely love going there and it’s definitely help me through my GCSE. It also has a great sauna which is nice and relaxing. I think that people are really harsh with the reviews as the people there and so helpfully and they nearly always gives me pointers an how to improve.
