YOU MUST MAKE RESERVATIONS ONLINE FOR NON-RESIDENT PARKING. The city was very smart to implement this kind of system. We arrived at 10am and I simply showed my pass—it was effortless (I bought my pass a few days before). I appreciate Gloucester considering out-of-town folk because other towns do not and that’s not fair. It is an absolutely stunning beach. The sand is soft, white and it glistens. The water is very clear. Low tide is fun, water goes up to the calves at most. We went a little further past the rocks and were able to get deeper. We went exploring by the rocks as so many others did. Saw lots of crabs, super cool. It would be smart to wear water shoes by the rocks though, they can be slippery. There’s also a very strong rip current a little past the rocks that gave us a small scare so fair warning. Plenty of lifeguards around though and they don’t really let you jump off the rocks. At high tide you can actually submerse yourself more in the water. The water was not freezing but it was cold which was refreshing on the 95 degree day we went there. Food is pricey at the concession stand and the shop is pricey too but they had some cute items! They have two shower heads (though one was out of order) and it’s not private. It definitely does not properly accommodate the quantity of people they receive. While they have a huge dumpster as you leave the beach, it is still inconvenient as many people still litter. The beach trash policy is in and out but they would benefit from a few trash cans by the entrances of the beach and at the concession stand. Overall I highly recommend. We all loved the beach and it was well worth the drive.

I should know by now never to "cheat" on Wingaersheek Beach. I had an old friend visiting over the summer and her one request was to go to the beach. My gut told me to take her to Wingaersheek, but then she said she wanted to see waves, and Wingaersheek is notoriously calmer. I took her to a cheaper, stinkier beach (rhymes with "Shmahant"), but then decided that I couldn't let her go back to upstate New York thinking that was what New England beaches looked like, so we packed up and drove from Stinky Red Tide Beach to Gloucester. She loved it so much that she asked to go back the next day. This beach is great for any age, but I find it particularly relaxing with small children, as it's a calm, shallow beach with all kinds of wildlife to explore during low tide. Order a pizza, carry in some chilled beverages, and then enter the park shortly after 5pm for sunset dinner. You'll avoid paying an entrance fee, it won't be too crowded, and you won't be sorry!

BUY TICKETS ONLINE!!!!!!!! PROS AND CONS PROS - Sand bars are amazing - Water does look like the videos/pictures - Great weather - Food - Sand feels like you're in the Bahamas (very soft) - Kid friendly (so many kids) - Clear water no seaweed - Amazing place 10/10 - CLEAN indoor bathrooms -CLEAN public showers - life guards are great CONS - Sun will burn you - Sea animals such at hermit crabs, oysters, and snails - They do not bother or bite you (you can't even see them unless you look for them),kids go in the waters just to find them bc they hide - VERY BAD MOSQUITOES THAT WILL STING YOU SO BAD while ur out on the sand - $32 to get in with ur car, if you walk, it's free - EXPENSIVE FOOD $8.99 for a hotdog $15.00 for a chicken wrap (bring your own food) - They do not show the prices for anything such as sunscreen, food, sand toys, etc. in their little shop before you head into the beach - no boards or floaters or any items in the water due to riptides :( Overall, 10/10 experience for me and my family, I drove 2h and 18m for this beach and they did not fail me. Lovely place, amazing water. The only thing was the mosquitoes but if you're in the water 24/7 like me, that wont matter!

Get here early! It is a smaller, beautiful, clean beach and fills up. Love the Italian ice carts that set up everywhere. Perfect for kiddos! My father is also an amputee; the short/flat distance from the parking lot to the beach, bathroom, snacks is very nice for our family. The water is crystal clear and shallow so there is no fear of waves. Would be a good beach for sand tire wheelchair❤.

This is an unforgettable beautiful beach. The photo was taken in the summer of 2022. We waited until the sea tide ebbed, we could walk across the center of the beach in diameter, and then took this incomparably beautiful and moving photo. I will definitely come to this beach again this year🥰🥰 suitable for family travel 👍👍

If you can catch low tide at night, it’s simply magical. So many creatures to find in the tide pools. The sunset is incredible. There are big rocks and a lighthouse making the scene picturesque. It’s one of my favorite beaches on the East coast. If you go after five pm (as of today 8/5/19) it’s free to park.

Dog-friendly between Oct 01 to Apr 30. No parking reservation/fee during off season. Wonderful beach, perhaps best one on East coast. Doggies absolutely loved it. So much fun.

An ok beach. You need to book in advance. On low tides you can walk in sea for almost half a mile and water stays under your waist. Very soft sand. Not much space on beach on high tide.

Awesome public beach. Some tide pools with lots of Hetmitcrabs and seashells. Even a couple of live sand dollars. Completely free off season.

Beautiful public beach. Pretty well maintained and less crowded. The white sands, clear water makes it an amazing place for family day out. Quite safe for lil ones to play in water due to no tides on the coast.

Came here for my first time this past weekend and I can't wait to come back! Obviously if your out of state or not a resident pre book your parking spot a few days before hand, I did it 3 days before on the "Blinkay App" with no problem, pre warning it is a bit pricey at $37. Overall the beach was beautiful! The water was blue/turquoise green, the sand was so soft, no rocks. We got there for 8am and we got to find a lot of wild life, from huge clams, to hermit crabs, shrimp, a dead horseshoe crab, and you got to walk out extremely far. I really enjoyed climbing rocks and taking pictures from them. There are bathrooms, and showers, also about 3 porta potties. There's a food area with a nice big menu but no prices. My friend got 3 small fires, and two waters and it came to $50, just for reference. There is also a shopping little area with shirts/sand toys/sunglasses/etc but very expensive. The seagulls were just like any other beach, you have your food out or lying around unattended they will attack it and or you, so be careful. The water was very shallow for quite a ways but I liked that, it was also really cold, and I'm use to cold water but I don't know why I couldn't take it this past weekend, it was only 75 but there was about 10 MPH winds. The drive for me was about 2 hours, all high way, I had no problems in the morning since I left early and got there for 8am which is when parking opened. Leaving around 4:30pm I of course hit Boston traffic which is to be expected. Overall it felt like paradise and I plan on coming back again this summer!

This beach is different. Big boulders all around. It's a small beach with plenty of croud. So during weekends the parking gets full. And there's also a huge parking fee, I think $30. Local residents get preferred and need to reserve beforehand. I parked after 5 which is free but still the parking were absolutely full. Be prepared to turn around if your not local and haven't reserved beforehand.

Get your pass ahead of time to visit this beach as they only sell so many. Water was warm, as it is fairly shallow. Snack shack and stuff shop is conveniently located at the walk way up to the beach.

I have not been to this beach. I am writing this review to let the users know about the current COVID-19 restrictions. This beach is a town beach and is restricted to only the town residents. If you are some like me who traveled from Boston in hope to spend a good beach evening, the current restrictions will disappoint you. Please make sure to go to a public beach like Salisbury beach.

What an absolute GEM! The sand is butter soft, the view is incredible, the location is great (holy cow ice cream is amazing and close by). We got there early and stayed until about 3:00 and grabbed early dinner and ice cream and headed back for low tide and the sunset. I couldn't believe all the sand dollars, clams, crabs, and the VIEW! Amazing amazing amazing. Worth the trip! You MUST buy your ticket ahead of time, I highly suggest a week in advance and try to get there by 11 to secure a good spot. There are clean bathrooms and a food stand (we did not get anything but looked good! CAREFUL OF SEAGULLS they will snatch any and all of your food!) Very clean, very family friendly quiet beach with small waves and not freezing water. No boogie boards or puddle jumpers allowed. Enjoy!

Apparently this is one of the best beaches in Mass but it is only open to Gloucester residents. So not drive there hoping they will let you in! They will not. Lots of staff and security at the parking lot and no other places to park and walk in available. So sad

Get there early parking gets full quick. Beautiful beach otherwise. Low tide brings the water far away but makes for a shallow beach extremely safe for smaller children. Water is clear and clean.

Beautiful new England beach with Alaine tide pools and a huge stretch of sand when the tide is out. Only disappointing thing is during this time of covid, it does tend to get crowded with no enforcement of distancing or masks. Best on weekdays or overcast days if you're trying to avoid crowds.

(Translated by Google) This beach is worth visiting in summer. It is really pretty, very clean, quiet and pleasant. It is important that you bear in mind that parking is somewhat expensive, it is worth $ 30 dollars a day, however, it is worth it. (Original) Vale la pena visitar esta playa en verano. Parking reservation was quick and easy. Arrival just had to show receipt to get scanned. There was plenty of space for all Beach goers. The water was nice and cool. Clear water and lots of photo opportunities. There are 3 sections with #2 being the most packed (middle section). Section 3 had rocks around and didn't have waves like section 2 had. Overall, amazing time with the family!

Wingaersheek Beach what a sunset you gave us! Without a doubt one of the North Shore's best beaches. Calm with soft sand, you must have a resident sticker during the season but it is so worth it to pay for a day pass if you can reserve a spot. Clean bathrooms, great paths, parking, ocean rocks, and swimming.

We may have caught this beach on a bad day, but I wouldn’t recommend it. There was a lot of trash, the water was more murky/stagnant than expected, and there were a lot of bugs. I would recommend good harbor beach or singing beach, they are fantastic comparatively.

This little beach was the perfect addition to our salem weekend away. I loved the boulders that were scattered along the shoreline. It was a ton of fun climbing them all morning. There was plenty of parking for residents and non residents. Just know that the parking opens at 8am and is first come first serve. We arrived at 830am and we're among the first 15 cars but I could see it filling up as we were leaving around 12. We we're lucky enough that this beach allows dogs after the month of September. It was the perfect getaway from all the hustle and bustle of the city.

We went in the late afternoon on a weekday, and there was parking; there are other beaches in the area if you need a Plan B. However, the life guards left at 5 PM and not everyone was super careful about crowding when on the rocks (adults and kids). Overall, it was pretty great, though.

I must say that I have hesitated to visit that place because of the last reviews. However the experience was amazing today, endless soft and white sand, spotless, low tide, water not even knee level for a long stretch. My 4-year old boy did not want to go back home as he was having too much fun. We got there around 9:30am, found a spot very easily with staff instructions and paid $30 in cash. Some people at the beach were wearing masks but everyone respected the 6-ft distance guideline as there was plenty of space. Every staff however was wearing a mask and service was efficient. Food was pricey but tasted ok. The only issue, due to the pandemic they do not have showers. You clean up in the bathrooms and go home🤷🏿‍♀️😬. But if you need a day to unwind and relax its definitely the place to go, just go early.
