First of all, we have used both Trolleys in town, City View and Old Town, and by far pick Old Town over City View. If I could give zero, I would. At first the trip started fine, but when we wanted to get back on after our first stop at 3:45 after attending a show, we waited over 45 minutes to be picked up. We even called asking if we were at the right spot and they said yes and proceeded to tell us we should only have a 15 min wait in between Trolleys. That was a lie! My dad went across the street to Old Town which we had used the previous day to see if we could just get a ride back to our car. City view then came in, and we told the driver our dad was coming and he said, ā€œno get on without your father or Iā€™m leavingā€. Luckily, my dad saw it and sprinted across the heavily traffic filled road. The driver (who had no name tag but had bright green sun glasses) proceeded to be rude. When he got to a stop, he told whoever wanted off had to get off right now or heā€™s leaving, not even minding the woman in the back with a cane who struggled to walk. He got to the ā€œend of the tourā€ and said, everyone off. Heā€™s done with work, and the trolley is closed at 4:30 and itā€™s 5 Iā€™m past time. Three families total expected to get dropped off at their car, he refused. We were over 2 miles from the stop where our car was, and was over a 30 min walk with traffic. We had to rent bikes, as we had over a 2 hour car ride back to where we were staying. The driver showed no empathy, as another couple purchased tickets at 4:50, but they refuse to pick anyone after 4:30. They sold under false pretenses. They donā€™t care about their customers, will leave you high and dry. Avoid them at all costs, pay the extra money for Old Town, they have more stops, give better tours, and you will actually see them around town to get picked up. I have worked in tourism and hospitality for close to five years, and this is not how you treat paying customers. We never could have imagined this would happen in our wildest dreams.

The stops are rather far from each other. So youā€™re in for big hikes in between stops. Take your walking shoes. Interesting places to see at the stops on tour. Itā€™s a great way to get around to the locations you want to see. Guides give historical information and stories which is ok. Nothing over the top interesting. Some guests are very rude to the tour bus drivers and think they know Boston history better than the tour guides. I would recommend this tour as a way to get around and see the popular sites. If youā€™re looking for historical accuracy and no stories about the city , you should take the city bus or an Uber. Donā€™t ruin the ride for others and donā€™t ruin someone elseā€™s good time. It ainā€™t that serious folks.

Knowledgeable and engaging drivers. Good price for tickets on Groupon. But there is a catch: unlike most other hop-on-hop off tours, this operator only allows ONE LOOP PER TICKET. So don't expect to be able to do a loop to get familiar with the city and then another loop to hop-on-hop off while checking out the attractions. We do these tours at every city that we visit, so it isn't our first rodeo, but this is first operator we found with this rule.

The WORST tour company ever!!! Do not waste your money buying their tickets and just walk instead. The staff is ridiculously rude. There are no clear signs anywhere on any of the stops indicating where to catch the trolley from. We walked to three different designated stops (per the provided map) and the trolley didn't stop. On one stop, we got on and the driver was so rude and gave us such attitude. Never again!

We have such an amazing time and the tour was worth every penny. Our tour guide/driver Joey was so funny, knowledgeable and had great stories. He was so kind, and throughtful to our two little girls. He gave them tattoos, bubbles, stickers, nail stickers when we boarded and you can tell that he spent his own money to get these. He loves children and want to make them happy. God bless you Sir Joey. Thank you for everything! Thank you for being so kind and take care always, we hope to see you again when we go back to Boston!

Took a trip on the Cityview Trolley Tourā€™s hop on and hop off to see Boston. Jack was our driver. Now Iā€™ve grown up in Boston my entire life and thought I knew all of Boston. Jackā€™s knowledge and accuracy blew me a way. I had some friends in from Pennsylvania and they too were very impressed and loved it. One of them is a historian and loved every minute of it. Jack pointed out all of the historical things every visitor to Boston should see. The best part is you can hop on and hop off at so many places! Canā€™t beat all of the drop off and pick up spots all throughout Downtown Boston, Charlestown, Boston Common, Beacon Hill, the waterfront, and more. If youā€™re visiting Boston, you want to do this. You wonā€™t be disappointed.

I rode with four drivers. Two were very nice, but two were very rude and humiliated passengers. I would never ride with this company again because of them. Those two drivers seemed more interested in making sure they were going to get tipped than making sure the riders were taken care of. They mentioned tipping expectations about 5-10 times. One of the drivers hurled insults at anyone getting off who didn't tip. It wasn't in jest, he was very upset. He started yelling an insult at me as I was stepping off the trolley, then realized that the person with me was tipping. He tried to cover his outburst by paying us a compliment about what we were wearing, saying something about us having on bright clothes. Most people tipped, but woe to the few who didn't!! I saw more Old Towne trolleys while waiting at the bus stops than I did City View.

I experienced the same exact thing as another reviewer. Because you get on and off the tour at stops, you donā€™t stay with the same driver. They donā€™t have a uniform business model where each guide is required to engage with the passengers in the same way. The first driver was a lady from Boston, very informative speaking about the background and history of the city, then we get some guy that serves off script comedy, very very inappropriate and goes on an ADD rant that has nothing to do with the tour. He said they donā€™t record the ride so clearly there is no quality control, he joked Iā€™d be fired if they did, šŸ˜‚ . They obviously donā€™t get paid well either because theyā€™re essentially begging for tips with various decorated tip jars and references to tipping. The buses themselves were a little old very tight no legroom Iā€™m 6ā€™1slender and it was rough, anyone overweight will have an issue too. We saw a number of other tours going on I would probably explore another option before these people if anyone reads this.

My husband and I enjoyed the tour of Boston and the information the guides gave and we do think it was worth the price. However, one of the drivers yelled at people several times for talking! It is not reasonable to expect people to be silent. He said everything people said was echoing up front but thatā€™s not our problem! This tour company needs to do something to fix the echo issue so paying customers donā€™t get yelled at.

We loved the Trolley experience! Appreciated the tour guides historical knowledge of the city. She did not introduce herself. Waiting for the trolley seems like it could be tricky and frustrating based on traffic, maybe an app for guest to use so they can tell when the trolley is estimated to be at a specific spot might be helpful. It's great to get a brief overview, so you can decide what activities you might want to take a further look at. I encourage participation.

If I could have given it a 0 I would have. We were not told where to get back on the trolley at each stop. We are not from Boston, so we had no clue where to go. We asked several booth operators where to go and they said they did not know the area. We were on our own. One driver practically yelled at me because unbeknownst to me, he was going to the garage. So once again, we had to wait. At another stop we waved the driver down and she drove right past us. We had to walk miles out of our way because no one that worked for this company had a clue what they were doing. I understand the drivers may be underpaid, but who isn't? There was no reason the lady driver(Cindy) at the end of the tour made a rude comment saying" have a good night folks, even though I picked you up 3 times"..I did not know there was a limit nor do I think paying customers should be made to feel like a hassle to pick up or pressured to tip. My husband and I would have been glad to tip if we had been treated with a little respect. There are other tours in Boston, This was by far the worst tour I have been on and I do not recommend wasting your money on this one..

Our driver was awesome. He was hilarious and very knowledgeable. The tickets were a great price on Groupon. The trolley took closer to a half hour to arrive at pick up locations. It was estimated to come by every 20 mins.

I thought it was a decent tour, especially since you can get off and get back on, but I thought the price was kind of steep for what you got. I paid $34 for the tour that lasts about an hour unless you get on and off, but then when I looked on Groupon it was 19 dollars and some change. Either way it was definitely worth doing. Also after paying that amount of money for the tour, be prepared to see signs everywhere saying don't forget to tip our drivers.

Had a great time on the tour. Our favorite driver was Coach. He was knowledgeable & funny & interacted with the passengers well. I would have given five stars, except for one driver who completely passed us by at one of the stops & we had to wait for the next trolley.

It was the best option for us! I would recommend it to anyone. We had a few hours to spend in Boston, the staff is very helpful, we learned about history, they even pointed us in the direction to get to Fenway park and it was just great! I would recommend getting there early, getting on the bus and riding all the way to the last stop, that way you can decide where you would like to hop off and plan accordingly. Lived it! Hope we had more.time! Definitely going back!

Honestly this SHOULD have been a nice experience however at the USS Constitution museum trolly 115 arrived late, drove right past us, opened the doors about 300 feet away and then drove off without us. This left us stranded over a mile away from our next stop. Honestly, this service was unreliable and put a damper on the day. Choose a different service !

  • 3/5 Jose R. 2 years ago on Google
This service offers a decent overview of the city of Boston. However, the quality of the information provided by the driver/guide is somewhat of a lottery. We experienced two different drivers and while both were friendly, the first one simply talked about random stuff while the second one provided much better information about the sites. I found the duck tours a better experience overall, from the fact that they have a dedicated and knowledgeable tour guide, to the whole amphibious experience, which allows you to do sightseeing of the city on land and in the Charles River.

I understand there are COVID rules BUT they ended up using blocked tables to make money clearly not making COVID important if they were willing to do this and then at the same time stalking guests to yell at you if you didnā€™t pull your mask up quick enough when you took a sip of a beverage that they offer. One worker literally stood by my husband when he took a Drink and then before he could pull it back up proceeded to lecture him. It makes for a very stressful and unpleasant experience. If you wonā€™t let us drink or eat without being judged donā€™t serve.

My friend and I opted for the tour that included the cruise tour on a weekday in the first week of August 2021. Had it not been for the cruise, we would have wanted our money back. I've taken several hop on and hop off tours before, this one was different. A passenger asked about riding it around then hopping back on later and they were told no. Another family got off and they were reprimanded for standing before the driver had opened the door and then a child was reprimanded for running (the child had simply hopped off the last step). I wish I could recall the name of the driver, as we nor any of the other 4 families tipped on the way off. He was just rude. There are other drivers and I've heard and ready positive things about others. The cruise was very pleasant and well worth it. The tour guide's name was Holly. I'd highly recommend taking the cruise but skipping this particular vendor's hop on/hop off.

Nice, comfortable city bus tour about one hour to many touristic places and attractions where you get a lot of information about Boston. If you visit Boston for the first time, you should have done at least a city bus tour and/or harbor cruise tour. Come in and find out!

  • 1/5 å½„č±Ann 3 years ago on Google
One of the guide's attitude is ABSOLUTELY bad. I forgot her name (too bad), I was translating for my family who are not used to English, and she's very rude to us. Even after explaining to her that not everyone understands what she's saying she even got off the bus and try to confront us why we speak when she's speaking. Also, the introduction is so boring. I've live in Boston area for 4 years, im pretty sure I can provide more useful and interesting information than her.

We took this Trolley Tour around the Freedom Trail after walking it, hoping we would get more out of it. Walking the Freedom Trail is the way to go. The trolley doesnā€™t go directly past many of the sites.

Johnny Boston is a talented comic with a head full of knowledge. He was able to stay upbeat when other passengers attempted to compete with his humor and/or knowledge. Was a good way to get a feel for the city when you're chilly and your feet hurt. You can jump on and off the trolley all day. A good value.

Love, Love, Loved Every Minute! Joey was informative and entertaining! I learned a ton; and he had great recommendations for the different stops. It was tempting to hop on and off; but being new to Boston, I stayed on to catch a glimpse of everything, and gain some understanding of the city. Stop #1 is right by the Ferry, which is also super convenient: You can get off one tour, and go on another. šŸ™Œ

Joey was the best tour guide. He was absolutely hilarious and he has a thick Boston accent. He normally does a mobsters and lobsters tour so he was telling us the local history but when there was just my husband and I with one other couple he told us a little bit more of the crime side. Joey likes to yell at people outside of the trolley who have ridden that day. We wound up picking up a couple that had ridden on the trolley that morning and it was a super fun time with them and Joey. Not only was he hilarious, but also extremely helpful! We were thinking of going to a restaurant for lobster rolls but Joey recommended a place called The Black Rose instead. That dinner was our favorite dinner from our entire trip out to the East Coast. I highly recommend this trolley tour over the green ones!

I enjoyed the tour around Boston and learning from the tour guide/ bus driver. He was entertaining and very informative. The bus stops at tour destinations and will drive around and you can get picked up later. Hold on to your ticket and flyer. You can use the flyer to flag down a bus. Attendant at kiosk was helpful and was helpful with Groupon certificate. Nearest parking was the garage next to the New England Aquarium. My daughter was not into the tour at first but was enjoying it half way through. Trolly was in good shape and warm with the snow outside.

We had an awesome time. The busses were in time, and we never had to wait long for a bus. They were accommodating with my mom's walker and very helpful with putting up and out of the way. The drivers were interesting and knowledgeable. It was very easy to find out how to get out tickets. Overall, I would do it again

Absolutely worth it! Best way to see the best of the city. Recommend to do the two day pass because there is just so much to see! Every drive we got was funny and knew their history. The trolleys come around every 15 minutes and would Recommend to wear a jacket! Thanks City View.

  • 2/5 Licia P. 5 months ago on Google
We purchased our tickets through City Go. Even though we bought City Go passes for 5 days, we could only use the trolley for 2 consecutive days. Weird. The trolley was loud, so it was hard to hear the driver. Kinda didnā€™t matter, though, because he just rambled about his own life growing up in the city and where he went and what he did in the 60ā€™s and 70ā€™s. He was charming, but wasnā€™t very professional or easy to follow. On our first ride, he said to yell when we wanted off, but we had no idea where we were going, so that made us nervous. The second ride, he announced stop 7, but it was really stop 8, which is the one we wanted. We almost missed our destination. We chose to walk. On our second day, we figured out it was faster just to walk to our destinations. Trolleyā€™s last pickup is 4:00, which seems too early.

The guy in the booth tried to charge us 48.00 each when he found out we were from out of state. Till we showed him the price online then he ā€œmagicallyā€ found the correct pricing. The food was amazing. However, we made reservations for 730. We arrived at 720, but did not sit until 845. It was rather disappointing that they could not sit people when they said they should. When we made the reservations we were informed if our party was not there within 10 minutes of our reservations, we would lose our seats. No one said they were sorry or explained why they were so delayed. A manager of a reputable business should be going around the each table and apologizing and explaining why there was an hour and 15 minute delay of service. I do not know if it was a one time issue, but better communication with your paying customers is a good business practice if you want to continue to grow your restaurant clients.
