Quiet park where you can find the hotel Toural. Very close to the center of the old town where you have all the restaurants

Jolly and bright with all the Christmas lights! It was a rainy day, so not a lot of shops open. It’s not short of photo props following the Christmas season.

Superb city . One of the most beautiful in Portugal.

Large open plaza. A bit plain but you can't avoid walking thru it.

Beautiful central square of the historical city of Guimarães. Surrounded by old colorful buildings. You must try the sweets on the old fashioned patisseries. At the end of the square you can find the historic wall where you can read "Aqui nasceu Portugal" = "Portugal was born here".

Guimarães is gorgeous. Walk through to old town to reach the castle... so much history in 10 minutes. I loved it. The people ate warm and helpful....

This is situated outside the city's walled castle next to the town's gate and was the stage for cattle fairs and bullfighting. Today it is one of the main meeting and socializing points for locals and the heart of the town.Here you will find several coffee shops and confectioner's surrounded by a row of beautiful old houses on the eastern side and on the west is St.Peter's Basilica.
