My 4-night stay at Eselbe Camp Backpackers was absolutely perfect! Rupert, the owner, is incredibly friendly and made me feel right at home. The camp's location by the river was so relaxing, I loved the laid-back vibe, indulging in mud baths by the river, and the peaceful walks along the river. The bar with visits from bush babies added a special touch. The option to eat with Rupert and other guests around the communal table made for memorable evenings. I highly recommend Eselbe Camp Backpackers for an amazing getaway. Thank you, Rupert, for everything!

The people of Eselbe (pronounced S L B) really makes this backpackers special. The tented rooms are comfortable and functional. There are clean communal bathroom facilities and an en-suite bathroom attached to the larger chalet. If tou love a vibe and zero pretence, this is the place to be when visiting the Nata Bird Sanctuary. Safe and relaxing. Be sure to look for bush babies and chameleons at the camp. Shared facilities like the kitchen and dining shack makes for fast friends.

One of the best campsite‘s in Botswana. Definitely worth to stay a night or more there. Beautiful and very chilled place which is nicely built with some chill out area’s. They do offer some tented rooms and also campsites. They also offer some food if you would like to join for dinner and they have beer&wine. Very friendly owner and volunteers. We did also meet very kind people and it is almost a feeling of a community. You can also take a Kajak and go on the river or go to the Nata bird sanctuary. There are also other activities. They do have some bush baby’s (Galagos) at the camp which are very cute and mostly active at nighttime. Enjoy your time there.

Super chilled backpackers camp. Cool vibes, nice conversations, cool atmosphere. Fine breakfast and dinner for a small additional charge. Canoes on the river when the hippos aren't around. I could have stayed much longer.

Eselbe Camp is a great place to stay, for one night, for a weekend or even a whole week. Super relaxed and chilled eco friendly place in the bush close to Nata. Whenever I am here I meet nice and likeminded people, selfdriver, backpacker, bikers or cyclists. Rupert offers self camping, safari tents and chalet. In the evening you can expect a get together around the table. He has a community kitchen, cold beers and offers very good dinner and breakfast for very reasonable prices. Beside the use of wifi you can also use the canoes for a tour on the river. Definitely recommend a stay here.

Eselbe camp is a backpacker’s dream. Rupert, Isabel, Janet, Joch , Anya all made us feel extremely welcome and they’re really thoughtful about guests. Breakfast and dinner was great, particularly the Braii! A great little camp in a beautiful location with a great community feel. Special mention to the resident Bush babies too!

Tents were clean with decent beds and linen. Tents are really close to each other so you can hear your neighbors movements. The owner was very friendly and accommodating. Pleasant location on river with canoes. The communal kitchen is a bit tight for the number of users (one 2 burner hob for the entire camp).

The tranquility of this place is remarkable. One can spend hours marveling at birds songs or walking around during the days and stargazing at nights. Of course there are other seasonal activities that lovely Isabel with her kind charming hospitality would fill you in.

My wife and I enjoyed our stay here in March of this year. The highlights were the bush babies and meeting new friends from other places. (BTW, the young couple pictured here is not us. We are not quite as adventurous as to travel out here by bike, lol)

Great spot to stay in Nata. The only place that has a bit of a backpacker/traveller vibe. The owner Rupert is a very friendly guy and if you don't have your own wheels he can take you into town to do some shopping. The beds were comfy and the atmosphere at the camp was just lovely. Wouldn't think of staying anywhere else if I came to Nata again.

Great vibes. Good place to stop in Nata, a common firepit and kitchen you can use with great facilties (hot water, wi fi)... The owned and his dogs were really nice. There are also canoes to borrow.

This was a lovely place to camp - facilities clean and reliable internet which was welcomed as we needed to plan and make some important connections back home. Rupert has cultivated a lovely atmosphere and runs the place incredibly well - his advice on the area and all parts Botswana is unmatched.

Although the access road is very sandy, once there, the place is great- I travel on a motorbike. It is situated on the banks of the Nata river. Being in a desert, the location is dry. Rupert has managed to create a little gem here. There are a number of campsites just outside the main area. There is enough shade to find a decent spot to erect ones tent. The ablution facilities are rustic but adequate and work. The little kitchen can get crowded but has all the necessary items one needs. Rupert and his staff and assistants are very pleasant and helpful. I wiĺ go back there when in the area.

Loved this rustic, quiet and peaceful place. It was a stopover at the start of our trip, and well worth it. Hippos were active in the Nata river and my 6 year old found tree scorpions with his scorpion light. Ablutions were clean and fun. We camped and thus cannot comment on the rooms. The communal braai area allows for good conversation and getting to know others. The sand is typical Botswana. I even got some golf in 🤣

It was our best stay in whole Botswana and Namibia! Rupert the owner is such a welcoming guy and just so so nice and friendly. The Campsite is very beautiful and it was very nice having dinner with Rupert and his team but also with other guest! The dinner was phenomenal!!! Really delicious steak! I can everyone recommend staying at this artsy campsite. Ps: they also have bush babies!

Very nice staff. Tents with bathrooms are quite ok. A campsite with a very family atmosphere, when we were there, everyone on the campsite had dinner together at a big table and ended the evening with a few cold beers and nice conversations. The "golf course" and the canoes also provide good entertainment. The highlight of the campsite is watching the bush babies in the evening when they hunt for insects on the ceiling of the lounge area. - A must see For those who don't know, there are also two/three pitches for campers. - We did not know it

Enjoyed my stay and had a lot of fun with the staff and other guests. Got to see a hippo in the river and the bush babies are super cool.

So excited to visit Botswana 'Oppipanne' festival, after driving 10 hours, our arrival at Eselbe camp, our accommodation is NOT ready, due to over bookings!! Owner not reachable on phone, no phone call, no sms, no email to warn us Alternative accommodation was our option, not easy to find and at a very high rate, we could unpack and join the festival. Needles to say, no refund was given, only a million of lame excuses.

This is a fantastic place with great views and vibes on the banks of the Nata River. The owner Rupert is very friendly and goes a long way to make you feel comfortable. Food is reasonably priced and tastes great. A camp kitchen is provided for those who wish to cook their own meals. Accessible by two wheeled drive and four wheeled drive vehicles and is close enough to Nata that you can get to the Camp via taxi for currently P33. There is free wifi that worked reliably while I was there. Despite it being in the middle of the dry season there was/is water in the river and hippos were present. The only negative thing I can say about this place is the male shower doesn't drain at all well, despite this it is a great place to meet fellow travelers and establish a base while exploring the pans and surrounding areas.

A friendly, eco-friendly spot on the river with a chilled vibe and host. We felt safe despite the low-key security. Please be aware that power is an issue and only supports lights and phone charging; it is not sufficient to run a car fridge for example. It can get a little noisy at night (animals jumping on tin roof, nearby locals partying) but we took this in stride as it is part of the authentic experience living in tune with nature and the community - part of the adventure! We met some very interesting people, enjoyed the dinner cooked for us all by Rupert. Can recommend.

Very small but charming camping spot. No luxury, no electricity, no pool and everything sustainable but so charming with canoes, a living room, a kitchen to share and camp fire. Reminded me of backpacking. Kids loved it!

Great place to stay in Nata! Rupert, the owner, was friendly and helpful. He cooked a yummy vegetarian dinner and breakfast too. We did some conoeying as well, twice! Internet worked perfectly. Rooms are with all the necessities as backpacker. Really worth it for the price you pay!

Amazing self-sufficient owner-run camp on the river shore in Nata with beautiful and friendly dogs. Very good food. The owner cooked for us every day delicous meals. Nice rooms, tents and comfy beds. Camping also available. Clean showers and toilets. Rupert, the owner is doing a lot in reuse and recycling, such a great place. I stayed 4 nights! Canoeing also available for free. No crocodiles there, very safe.
