Beautiful Ottoman historical monument. It is necessary to point out that this vestige is abandoned, no maintenance of the place, no guide in order to present the different parts of this fort. I was so disappointed that a witness to Algeria's long history was so poorly preserved. The 4 stars are only for the meaning of this vestige and the historical symbol that it can represent.

A wonderful tourist place that gives a complete picture of the maritime history in Algeria and a wonderful waterfront, but without a tour guide

#Tamenfost_Tower “Tamanfost Tower” or “Tamanfost”, a Berber word meaning “right side”, is an ancient historical landmark that tells the story of a time period that Algeria went through. This historical landmark is located in the city of Tamenfoost, between the municipalities of La Marsa and Bordj el-Bahri in Algiers. It is a fort among the many military forts that were built during Ottoman rule in order to protect the city of Algiers from any external attack. The construction of this fort dates back to the year 1661 AD. The party of “Ramadan Agha” during the rule of “Ismail Pasha” at that time. “Ramadan Agha” built this castle in the form of a stone structure surrounded by a trench 3 meters deep, which can be crossed from the southeast side via a moving bridge 5 meters long and one and a half meters wide. Most of the materials used to build this fort were uprooted from the ruins of the ancient city of “Riskonia.” Located in the municipality of Marsa, the cannon of this fort announced with its shots the arrival of the new pasha appointed in the province of Algiers by the Sublime Porte in Istanbul. This fort was restored during the rule of Dey Hussein Mizo Murto in the year 1685 AD after the two attacks in Bahrain in the years 1682 and 1683 AD by Abraham Doukas on the city of Algiers. Over time, this tower became one of the most prominent ancient monuments that attract tourists, which made the guardian ministry give it special attention and worked to fence and restore it repeatedly in order to restore respect to the historical tourist attractions. It was classified as an Algerian cultural property in 1967 AD and exploited for various cultural events. It is open to visitors and researchers seven days a week.

Octagonal stone fort overlooking entrance to the bay. Opening hours are unclear and appear to be highly variable.

An abandoned heritage without maintenance. Absence of the guide. An agent who is not at all welcoming.
