Very nice place and tasty food! Best Brussel sprouts I have tasted this year. Staff is very polite and attentive. Prices are reasonable for Boulder. Overall - highly recommended!

Underwhelming. Location and ambience is very nice, very cosy in a traditional setting. Service was also pretty attentive. But, the food was mediocre at best. We got the duck breast ($26) which was tiny (see attached) - we've ordered this from other restaurants many times and you would get 3-4 nice size slices, here you only get two tiny slices. It was smaller than the kids chicken tenders meal. Also ordered the NY strip steak which was tough and under seasoned. We all ordered the American Onion Soup which was watery, no seasoning, with pale onions (didn't caramelize enough hence lacked flavor). I would definitely not consider this place fine dining.

What a real treat to eat at this historical site! The food was great, and the server was excellent. I chose the Bistro Bison Burger (medium-well because I am care with any raw meats). It was so good with the caramelized onions and apple jam. A great meal at an affordable price especially compared to some places in town. And the views from this lovely old establishment are priceless!

Disappointing experience. I ordered the white chocolate mousse dessert. The so called mousse was undissolved sugar in a pasty substance with fruit. I traded it for the coconut pana cotta, which was better, but the server didn't give me a spoon. She saw me using a fork but didn't offer a spoon. I had to grab one from a table. I was told there would be a 45 min wait for a table, so I sat at the bar, but the whole time I was there only a few tables occupied. They seemed to be very short staffed.

Mediocre food, weak service. We were a group of 6. Our server was in training and she did not have sufficient support. Our appetizers came out with our main meal. At this point, we had far too much food on the table. Our server acknowledged this and apologized. It was not until I mentioned this to the manager that the server returned and said they would comp one of the 3 appetizers. Our drinks were empty and no one refilled our water glasses or asked if we would have like more beverages. The local trout I ordered tasted off. I ate one bite and left it untouched. I told the server and then the manager spoke to me. He assured me it was fresh. When it was time to go, we couldn’t find anyone to pay. The service really felt like amateur hour - I understand someone is in training, but she needed more support. And the restaurant did not give her that. We live in the neighborhood and will not return for dinner

I had long dreamed of eating here. The service I received this morning ruined it for me. The blonde girl working the patio was completely inept. Never got a refill on coffee, though I asked twice. She brought me Luke warm milk in a mixed drink glass. After waiting 25 minutes for my food, they sent me out some dry looking pancakes with chopped up equally dry strawberries on top. Not a smear of butter in site. Here the kicker,I didn't order pancakes. She had to go reorder my Buttermilk Waffle. Another 25 minutes. Nows when I could a used that coffee refill I never got. Some dude came out of his own volition and said he'd knock a measly %10 off the Waffle alone. Gee thanks!! Didn't matter, because they forgot that too. When I finally got my Waffle, it was delicious. I won't knock it. I question the 2 strips of bacon. 3 is a standard order. To do less,is cheaping out. For no reason at all, except to save a buck. I was hoping for a better experience. Maybe I just caught em on a bad day.

Great old restaurant and bar with old school charm. The service was excellent and loved the food there. After hike down it is great place to have some drink and food with your friends and family. Would love to visit again. This was opened in late 19th century so you will definitely experience vibe

At the last minute, I requested a reservation for my husband's birthday (for high tea) .. I was pleasantly surprised that Melissa worked some magic, and got us a table (same day). All the waitstaff (Matt was our waiter) was attentive and kind. The food was scrumptious. In particular the butternut squash soup was wonderful. The atmosphere at the dining hall is unique & cozy. We have dined here several times and it is always delightful!

Tasty food, well thought of local offerings that give you a taste of Colorado in a rustic restaurent with a heritage. The service was also amazing, attentive and on point. We loved the elk bratwurst, the bison Ruben and the local steak. Well done in all fronts and definitely worth a return visit!

This is for sure a beautiful place to dine in. Period. Staffs are super friendly. Ordering food there could be a bit tricky. We had our brunch there before our hiking. My meal Chautauqua Breakfast and my soy latte both were both disappointing, in particularly the fruit plate (even had a drop of ketchup!); my partner ordered Bison Rueben and he was happy with the taste and the portion. I decided to add the Brussel Sprouts since many mentioned it as their favorite in their reviews. Wow this is indeed the best Brussel sprout I have ever had! A must try dish!

We had a blast at Valentine’s Day brunch! What a quaint, unique place for a special (but not over-the-top expensive) meal— not to mention the gorgeous scenery, & beautifully maintained buildings & grounds. Highly recommend for people of all ages!

We enjoy the atmosphere at the Chautauqua Dining Hall and have many memories of family gatherings on the porch. This past Summer (2022), the service and the menu were not quite on par with what we have come to expect. The chairs were coming unraveled, the porch appeared to need a good sweep or spraying off, and the hostess was short with me. We like to go before performances, and the staff does a good job accommodating one’s time schedule. We will give it another try!

This place is terrific! The atmosphere is like a cottage, and the food is top notch. We went there with our 3 year old and they helped make sure he had what he needed so we could enjoy our food. Good service, good food in a great location.

The Chautauqua dining Hall does a great job on menu selections and of course you can't beat the location. During warm weather you can eat on their outdoor porch. I've never had a bad meal. They have also done a complete and expensive renovation of the playground if you have little ones. And finally there are dozens of trails leading from Chautauqua park. The ranger cottage is located conveniently to give you guidance for trail selections.

Snowy day. We were the only ones there for about an hour. LOVE the Brussels Sprouts side dish! Split that and the Eggs Benedict, and it was plenty for two people. Wait staff is always friendly. Lovely, historic building in a beautiful setting. Highly recommended.

We really like this place. It's comfortable and inviting, the food is delicious and healthy, and the views are spectacular. The difficulty in finding parking actually is a benefit here, because it keeps the wait times low. :-) Last weekend, my girlfriend and I came in just for a late afternoon snack after a hike. Becca took great care of us and took time to explain the items on the menu that were gluten-free, and those that were gluten-friendly (cooked in common fats, for example)... She didn't rush us, talked about what it's like there for brunches, and even helped us with information about what music was playing. Good times, I liked her and chatauqua a lot...

Amazing, charming, cozy and historic-feeling, with an excellent menu! Had brunch here, and the options were spectacular, and the food and coffee were delicious. Highly recommend!

There are a few places in the country that offer such a magical combination of delicious food, charming ambiance, beautiful views, and friendly service. Chautauqua dining hall is definitely one of those magical places. We came by this morning for breakfast and we're able to sit in the sunshine and one of us had an incredible view of the plains and Boulder while the other was looking at the flatirons. The coffee was delicious, service was speedy and warm and friendly. We were able to be seated quickly, but I do know that the dining hall can be busy during the summertime and sometimes you will have to wait. If you don't have a reservation. Parking can also be tricky as lots of hikers will park ahead of time and take up the spaces near the dining hall. So allow a little extra time when you come here and remember that there's parking behind the hall and in front of the hall and check both areas for a spot.

Fantastic food with great quality. Quick turn around time. Very tender steak, fresh salmon, and great ice cream. Highly would recommend the burrata crostini

I believe they may have been understaffed the night we came (Sunday night at 6:30) but they tried their best. We enjoyed the bass, brussel sprouts, sausage, summer salad, and their cornbread. Yum! We'll be back.

Vibrant plates & great atmosphere (sit on the Southwest side of the patio for dinner) 🌄 SO GOOD that we came back the next evening for dinner with the same friends! Relaxed vibe, farm to table cuisine & great seasonal menu… Can’t beat the view

A stunning location at the foot of the mountain range, with the 'frontier spirit' somewhere in the background. The actual restaurant/bar experience is OK.

We live in town and hike the trails all the time, but today we spontaneously decided to stop in for brunch and were not disappointed!! We were seated right away on the porch, which was shaded and lovely. Enjoyed mimosas and the skillet hash and huevos rancheros - both were absolutely delicious! Very kind service also. Can't believe we haven't taken advantage of this local gem more often!
