A lovely hotel in a great location but that’s as far as it goes - paper cups in the room, supplied once - no glasses yet alone wine glasses- notissues in the room, empty minibar , water supplied on first day only. Two areas of grounds blocked off for functions and a noisy concert next door showing off how poorly soundr proofed rooms are. What a shame they have ruined the experience

The service and staff were outstanding, as is the decor of the hotel. The rooms are big enough, but are not massive, and the mattress was too firm. The pool was cold and swarming with mosquitoes and the water jets didn't work. The bar had an outstanding selection and everything was excellent, though a but expensive. Overall, I enjoyed my stay but felt that, for the money I paid, the overall experience fell slightly short of my expectations.

Lake Maggiore was so beautiful and I had the perfect view from my hotel room. The hotel was so accommodating from making sure we had plenty of pillows to the service by the bartender. I want to go back!

Splendid hotel surprised me to say at least. Keep in mind, you have to pay for things that you would normally expect as complimentary such as, for example, gym and parking on the site. Further, it turned out that a plastic bottle of water in the room is complimentary only at arrival, then you need to use the same plastic bottle to refill at the lobby. My ask to renew the bottle surprised the cleaners and reception. Further, you will find single-use paper cups in the room that the reception claims are provided once for all your stay! Imagine, you stay in hotel for 10 days and you have to use one and the same single-use paper cup during all your stay! I asked several times during the day to bring new paper cups, but nothing happened. I made it a special request to change paper cups daily, let’s see… have another 4 days to go.

We really did have a splendid stay here. A killer location, with great rooms, all the amenities, and a great group of people taking care of us.

Nice place to relax or from where to explore the region, rooms are done up in traditional style and most have a little balcony. Can’t beat the view though and water taxis are available to a number of local spots for dining. Definitely recommended if you just want to get away from it all for a week.

That this hotel only gets four stars is a real surprise - for me it truly warrants a five star rating. In my experience all the staff are really friendly and cannot do enough for you which ensured my friends and I had a pleasant stay. It's location cannot be bettered - it is literally on the shore of Lake Maggiore and has its own jetty and beach. There are also terraces where you can sit and relax, have a drink or dine whilst taking in the beautiful views. The hotel itself is superb! Tastefully decorated with comfortable furnishings which also extends to the large and spotlessly clean bedrooms. Air conditioning throughout the hotel was welcome given the high temperatures we were experiencing. Those wishing to eat will not be disappointed. Breakfast was an extensive self serve buffet of extremely high quality with something to please everybody. We ate at the hotel on both nights of our stay and weren't disappointed. The dinner menu is varied and my friends and I can vouch that not only was the food nicely presented but it also tasted delicious. I enjoyed my stay so much that I have now booked to return for a special occasion.

a fantastic hotel with great service, great location and the food is also very high standard, the only little minus is the breakfast is a bit to expensive, but it’s your choice

Staff were friendly. However, I was charged 19€ per night for parking (they told me it would be free if I booked through their website) which was an inconvenience. And parking spaces were usually full where we had to park on the other side of the road. Everything closes at midnight. And room service/ food are not always available (specific kitchen hours) but that’s the case for all of Stresa I guess

We had a very nice moment in the Splendid hotel The rooms with lake view are wide enough and silent, the lake view is so wonderful ! Very good continental breakfast buffet The private beach is very pleasant and convenient to rest or swim in the lake

Be prepared to take your own kettle with cups and glasses to this hotel, as they’ll give you one paper cup per person for all your stay and it’s impossible to make hot water in your room. You have to pay for parking 19 Eur per day. Honestly, I wouldn’t stay here again, too pretentious and a rip-off.

A one of a kind family run hotel set in a stunning location - Hotel Splendid has the most amazing and attentive staff, 5* service and food and luxury rooms. We have been back to the hotel several times with one visit being for our wedding! We could not have found a more beautiful hotel to celebrate our day. Our friends and family travelled from the UK and stayed at the hotel. The staff were so lovely and made our guests feel relaxed and welcome. We have been made to feel special on every visit by Raffaele and his amazing team who remember us every time. We will be returning to Hotel Splendid for many years to come!

Lovely hotel. Our lake view room had a cracking view with a spacious balcony. Food was very good. The hotel is on the edge of Baveno. You can walk into town alongside the main road (past the local supermarket) or a more scenic route through the adjacent park.

Beautiful hotel on the lake at a very, very reasonable price. Rooms are 5-star hotel quality. Very accommodating staff and within walking distance of many shops, parks and restaurants. DO NOT use your GPS to find it. It is not the fault of the hotel, but the Google Maps and the iPhone app will put you about 2km south of the hotel.

Pricey, but caters well for every need! Fantastic services, good location and excellent staff. Room was very nice, big and welcoming. Pillows were a disappointment though. Everything in the hotel is an extra, so you pay if you want to use the spa, the parking garage, or anything else, apart from maybe the beacj towels. Super rich breakfast, and restaurant staff was efficient, welcoming and friendly. We liked the stay in all, except for the prices and the need to pay extras for using a sauna or gym.

Very nice setting at the lake, relaxed and cozy atmosphere, good value for money and friendly staff. Great conferencing facilities, with several rooms on difference sizes and good choice of venues for private dinner. Bar with good choice of drinks,

Booked a regular room, they gave us the first floor. We did not know that underneath our room is the staff room, so all night all I kept hearing was banging of items and doors shutting loudly. We asked to be moved the next morning and they declined stating we would have to pay a difference. So we did pay the difference for the upgrade, unfortunately it was our last night (we are on our honeymoon and decided for only two nights here as we are driving throughout) and I did not bother inspect the room thinking that if we paid more well room should be better. It wasn't. The button for the toilet #1 didn't work, their is only one charging port on the whole room and it did not want to grab. The bathroom was so much smaller than our previous room to the point that the door hit the toilet if you tried opening all the way out, and to top it off the beds are so uncomfortable that I woke up with back pain. Not to mention if you book the nicer room you get the lake view, the only problem with that is that on the weekends party's are hosted here such as weddings. And although I understand the desire to celebrate, I also realize that we paid more to be closer to the chaos of the party since it's by the water. All In all, location is great, the looks of the hotel is fantastic but this was the worst sleep I had in our whole trip. I would come back to baveno but for $250 a night plus parking I'm expecting to have a much better stay than what we had. I will say this, staff here is super nice and lovely.

Right on Lake Maggiore, in a small town. IMHO a much better base for seeing the Lake region than the crowded city of Como. The photo is the view from our balcony.

Place to be! Amazing view very friendly and helpful employees especially at the reception! A lady helped us to find a dog sitter for our 3 dogs, so we could visit the Isola Bella eiland. Highly recommended👌🏼 Thank you for all we’ll return to this hotel!
