Yet another amazing visit to De Grendel. Once again, a great meal. 3 course set menu. I opted for the pork belly starter. This was absolutely amazing. Cooked to perfection. Tender flesh with just enough crisp to the outer skin. For mains, I chose the beef fillet. I selected rare and I was not disappointed. Tasty, juicy and just the right size cut. The chocolate cheesecake was my dessert choice. Not too sweet. Perfect texture. Really tasty. Finished off with a nice cappuccino. I don't recall which red wine I went with, but the 3 different wines consumed at the table were all met with positive responses.

Sure the food is excellent. And sure the wine out of this world. But there is just something about this restaurant that feels a little ‘stuffy’ or ‘old fashioned.’ Compared to the vibe of some other well-known Cape Town eating establishments, this place just lacks a ‘hip’ factor. It’s to do with the decor, the attitudes of the serving staff, and well, the food. Which again is great. But it all just feels a little conservative for my taste. And while they obviously have no problem filling the place weeks in advance which means they have a loyal clientele, my feeling is one of a missed opportunity to be more modern and funky with the high level of food, wine and service they do have.

Our first time here. What a lovely wine farm with awesome views towards Table Bay and Table Mountain. It was a very busy Thursday, so we excepted the slow service, but definitely needs to be looked at. Sat outside, no umbrellas on a hot day. Wines were amazing... the Noble Late Harvest was a winner. Did not eat as the courses are very expensive and do not give you a real choice of eating anything else. Well worth a visit though. 🍷🍷🍷

With not much time to spare, we popped in for a quick weekday afternoon wine tasting. Firstly, the view is spectacular. It's such a unique view of Table Mountain and Cape Town. All 6 of the wines tasted were superb. 👌 Our server was professional, polite, and knowledgeable. We look forward to our next visit!

Fine dining at its best. It's not a cheap round at R595 per person for 3 courses, but it's worth the spoil! Service, ambience, and food were of the highest quality.

Fabulous meal, we were a big crowd. Lovely service and not being rushed to move from our table. Nicely spaced out tables and time sittings. Staff friendly.

Had the most amazing fine dining dinner experience at the restaurant. The food was delicious. My steak was made to perfection and really went down well with the Rubaiyat red wine. Will definitely be visiting the restaurant again soon.

What an amazing farm tour with a true ambassador for the De Grendel brand. Douglas Swanson took us on a tour yesterday and just went above and beyond what had we had been expecting. His passion for the wine industry and extensive knowledge of the farm and its operations was refreshing. I would highly recommend it

Had an awesome day with my team in the tasting lounge. We were a bigger group so had exclusive use of the tasting lounge which was awesome. Snacks are simple but good and tastings options were good.

Exceptionally beautiful location with views of the ocean in the distance, table mountain and the on site lake. We dined from a set menu. Every course was beautifully presented, generous portions and delicious.

Lovely views of the beach and mountain, over sprawling fields and lavender bushes. The estate offers a lovely variety of great red, white and rosé wines. I can absolutely recommend the Three Spades cider and the MCC. The staff are knowledgeable and friendly and the platter was a suitable accompaniment to the well priced tasting. Reservations are a must here, book a couch inside, so you can enjoy the goods out of the wind.

Went for the fine dining lunch experience at De Grendel, and I was blown away by the delicious food, array of flavours, professionalism of all staff and the quality of the wine. The Sauvignon Blanc was smooth and fruity, personally my favourite. Enjoyed the pulled pork for starters, followed by lamb shanks for mains and ended off with a dark chocolate cheesecake with homemade Oreo ice cream. All the flavours were so well blended together and all round really enjoyable experience. There is also a full view of table mountain and Lions head from the restaurant. Quite spectacular. I will be back

Had a wonderful experience at this wine estate. The food was delicious, the wine testing was a cherry on top. The views of the city and the mountain are majestic. The service from the staff was excellent. There is plenty of parking available. The toilets are clean. Everything ticked the boxes for me.

Stunning food and very attentive service from Thabo our server. The atrium section where we were seated offers lovely views but is quite a noisy space as it's enclosed. I would have offered five stars but the noisy atmosphere is at odds with the fine dining experience that I was expecting.

Such a stunning location! Very friendly staff and the wine tasting is exceptional. Had the premium wine tasting in the tasting lounge and it was delicious! I booked via email and they responded quite quickly. When I arrived they had my table set aside with my name and made sure I was well taken care of. The waiter also explained the wines very well and made some good recommendations.

The views are lovely, but the wine is not convincing. Had the flagship wines presented more favorably, the R130 tasting fee would have been better received. In the end, De Grendal only waives their tasting fee for an 18+ bottle purchase, which is essentially only for club members. Come for the views if you like, but don't expect to be blown away by the wine.

The most beautiful wine farm we have ever been to. The views of Table Mountain while enjoying a glass of wine is just breathtaking. We enjoyed a dinner with a wine pairing for my birthday and it was amazing. The food was absolutely on another level and the wines paired with it was just superb - this evening just made sure we never want to drink any other wine 😋

Beautiful setting with some of the best views of any restaurant. The staff are friendly and knowledgeable and the service is top class. The food is amazing and I would definitely recommend the three course menu with the paired wines, well worth it! I took my parents for their 43rd wedding anniversary and the restaurant even did a special desert for them - above and beyond!

It's was a delight experience. The food is fantastic and very filling. Very good taste and I always wanted to taste a Zucchini flower. Very beautiful and quite surroundings. Our waiter was friendly and very professional. Can't wait to taste the wines. Thank you for hosting us on new years eve. Blessed new year for you all at De Grendel.

Out of all the wine tastings we have done in and around the western Cape, this is by far the worst experience. First of all we were denied the 5 wine tasting because we came 8 min after 3pm, we were offered the 3 wine tasting and apon being served, our waitress didn't even explain anything about the wines. Very disappointed, you would think after the hardships endured for wine farms during hard lockdowns the service would be up to high standards.

…..Final-lii we are here as we tried to get in before but we were turned away because we did not have an appointment. The entrance gate is manned permanent-lii were you have to report in to verify your appointment than each occupant in the vehicle must have their temperature checked and recorded. Its a breathtaking ride to the Tasting-rooms very picturesque and very well maintained grounds. Once you arrive at the parking area which is clean and impressive and when you look out towards Table Mountain you are blown away by the awesome panoramic view. The tasting room offers inside or outside seating and on a beautiful day like today there is only one place to be sitting and that definite-lii outside. Our host welcomed us cordial-lii and made us feel at home before explaining to us what will be happening and apologised that they were short on menu-cards but did offer us one copy. He was on point and was absolute-lii knowledgable. We choose the Flagship Tasting @ R 120.00 per person which gave you five tastings. 1, 2017 Cap Classique “Brut” 2, 2019 Koetshuis “Sauvignon Blanc” 3, 2020 Op Die Berg “Chardonnay” 4, 2018 Op Die Berg “Pinot Noir” 5, 2016 Rubaiyat. With each tasting served the content the wine was explained and a bit of the background added to the explanation. The wines were of excellent quality and the awesome views just sealed a magical time spent here for us. We high-lii recommend this establishment and ask that you make a point of visiting here……

This restaurant is by far my favourite fine dining restaurant in Cape Town. If it's just about food and flavours and super clever presentation and old-fashioned taste: this restaurant beats all the city's pseudo warehouse/factory-style restaurants hands down. Excellent, excellent food!

Telephone lines dont work, there is no notice on website that you have to make a booking to even get into the estate for wine tasting or restuarant. Gaurds at the gate are not friendly and dont know what to tell the customers. Very poor seems De Grendel seems does not need business as they are not prepared or willing to communicate to potential customers on the website or on facebook.

It's a nice enough place but they are a bit snotty. Got shown away the first time because we didn't have a reservation. Made a reservation the second time but still couldn't access the restaurant or even have snacks with the wine tasting. It was quiet enough so I don't understand why they refuse to accept walk ins. The wine itself was good and we bought a couple of bottles.
