We have visited here before and were excited to go back but I have to say that both the service and the food were a little disappointing. Although the food was good and the decor is beautiful, the food was definitely not as good as we had last time and the service was not great. We didn't eat any slower than you would expect but we're still told that we had to leave our table in 30 minutes before the dessert even came. This seems like a time management issue on their side and as we were there for a celebration it was not pleasant to effectively be told to get out. We also had an issue where one of our burgers came with jalapenos even though that was not listed on the menu and the person having it would have had them removed. Something spicy like that should really be listed on the menu. The diner had even asked for the pickle that was listed to be removed so really it should have also been mentioned at that point. It was a good meal overall but these elements spoiled it a bit.

The location is Amazing! So nice and very particular. The food is interesting but something can be improved. Cauliflowers of appetizer and chicken of main curry meal were too roasted. Anyway, I enjoyed the dinner. Notice: they serve very good beers!

The decor and atmosphere is lovely. But that's as good as it gets, so lower your expectations for the food. Service is incredibly slow, food arrives barely warm and glasses arrive dirty. You'd expect that for a place with 4.2 stars (currently November 2023), that the food would be great too. With a menu that is heavily aimed towards their 'signature' hanging kebabs, you'd at least expect them to be good. Honestly, they were the driest kebabs I've ever had, apart from the one time I tried to make some from scratch using an oven as a teenager. Haha. The pictures really appear more juicy than they are. The chicken took actual force to get the fork into and the prawn kebab was just.. cold. Really not good enough for the price they charge. Looking around past the greenery and chic decorations you can see several other couples who have finished their cocktails (80% ice) and are also waiting for too long for their meals. A table behind me of just 4 guests had to ask twice where their food was, with 10 minute intervals. Oh and the rocket was barely fresh at all. Sadly, a really disappointing experience.

Fabulous, first time I've been in, 17 of us on a hen do. Great service, gorgeous food, good choice of drinks and all for a great price. I expected it being very expensive but was very pleasantly surprised. Certainly going to go again.

Nice place to go for great food and outstanding venue. Food is brilliant for the prices, hidden away, in Sheffield, this restaurant is perfect for couples celebrating, first date or for a group outing. That treat for a love one in the family. The setting is clean and quiue. Good services from all the staff. The current Christmas setting is stunning and makes for start to Christmas cheers.⁸

We first came here 2 years ago after my wife saw how beautiful the restaurant looked on their social media page. The pictures do it no justice. The place oozes character and charm from the second you enter to the moment you leave. The menu is made up of a number of firm favourites but of the highest standard. The first time I came, I ordered a burger and was very impressed. The second was a roast dinner, as I had inadvertently booked a table on a Sunday and took full advantage of the opportunity to have a roast. The food was astounding. Beautiful meat, vegetables, and potatoes are all presented delightfully and accompanied by homemade Yorkshire puddings. Delicious. The drinks are interesting and it's hard to know which one to have as they're all so delicious sounding. I settled for a Rhubarb cocktail and could have easily drank more. I can not rate this place high enough. I look forward to my next visit.

This is my second visit to the Botanist. The food was tasty and hot, we didn't have to wait long for the Katsu curry and Bang bang noodles, and drinks arrived minutes after ordering. Staff were friendly and attentive. If this is your first visit, the restaurant is UP 3 FLIGHTS OF STAIRS, so if you need to, take the lift. I highly recommend the cocktails, all of them hic

Fast, friendly service. Seabass was too salty but the gnocci was good. Chicken burger was sloppy and difficult to eat and the chicken was dry, but the fries were very good. Strawberry and elder flower mocktails were not great. Could not even drink more than half because of the excessive amount of crushed ice. Overall the vibe of the restaurant was nice but I would maybe only come here for drinks rather than food.

Great food, sweet staff and lovely atmosphere. The only downside was the limited Sunday menu. I will be coming back though.

Lovely restaurant with delicious food. In particular, I would recommend the kebab options and the bang bang noodle salad. However, be advised that for their price, portions are not that big. Still nice place

I really liked this place. I had dinner here with friends and everyone had a great time. Food was very well presented and tasty. Kids menu has also good options. The decoration is also unique and the lights setting in the evening is very pleasant. Great location and reasonable priced.

Booked dinner for the four of us to celebrate our daughter's GCSE results as I knew she would absolutely love the decor. Due to my husband's shifts, we had to book for an early meal (4:30pm) so it was very empty and a little lacking in atmosphere as a result, but the food & service was fab. Really pricey, but this was a special occasion 😊

Amazing place. Atmosphere is fantastic. Lovely menu with delightful food. Plenty of options for meat/vegetarians/vegans. Only shame is that staff only receive 40% of their tips. Should be 100% in my eyes! Thank you for a lovely date night.

As a participant of a recent Christmas Ball held on these premises I must say that the place is stunning. There are many reasons for it, including beautiful decorations, helpful and friendly staff, great food and reasonable prices for alcoholic drinks. Will definitely come back at one point for a smaller dinner!

I had my birthday dinner here. The first thing you notice is how gorgeous the decor is, it's absolutely stunning! The food is a little expensive but delicious and high quality, I had the plant burger and it was amazing (the fries that came with it were also great!). The cocktails were nice and strong, and they had a good selection of drinks in general. Everyone who served us was lovely and helpful, they made us feel very welcome. Will definitely come here again on special occasions!

Average is about as good as I can describe the food I just fancied a chicken burger, simple food with chips. It’s like they went out to find the cheapest bun they could find and then sucked all the moisture out of the chicken. In the end it felt like being on a beach on a hot day when you’ve run out of drink, aided by the driftwood they served the food on (plates work guys). To be fair it’s probably the plan so you then spend more on the horrifically prices drinks! The service was excellent though, friendly staff who were attentive and although busy you went left with empty glasses and plates on the table The restaurant has a good atmosphere too, just a shame the food sucked

It was a lovely experience, the pasta was delicious, full filling and spicy, they don’t do take away but they suggest to put it a aluminum foil. The bowl of green veggies was small other than that everything was perfect the vibes and service both were 5/5. It gets busy at the weekend.

Fabulous food. Waiting staff were very nice but the staff on the entrance could have been a bit more welcoming. Lovely alcohol free selection of cocktails and the sweet was to die for. I would definitely visit again.

Lovely place to have a lunch or dinner with amazing ambiance of traditional view of an old building. Good and well welcoming staff. Very nice dishes, all tasty. Well spending time with friends or families 🤗

  • 4/5 Richard B. 2 years ago on Google
The cocktails were okay, but not out of this world as I guess we expected it to be. The entrance to the restaurant was amazing though to be fair, very grand with the flowers and trees. The staff were friendly, and the food was okay but I wouldn’t say amazing. I think you come here more for the atmosphere than anything. Worth a visit if you’re in the area

  • 4/5 Sarah F. 2 years ago on Google
Nice atmosphere, really good vegan burger and the sweet chilli fries are excellent. Also nice cocktails and mocktails. Very quick service. A tad annoying having toilets downstairs, but otherwise the only thing that would improve the atmosphere is if the plants were real, which would be hard to maintain. I enjoyed it here.

The reviews for this place are very good so thought i'd give it a try, the restaurant is very nicely decorated although the wooden seat i was sat on wasn't that comfortable. I ordered the famous hanging chicken kebab with chunky chips and it was delicious!! ... the chicken was tender and succulent and tasted superb, also the chunky chips were nice and hot which was good because there's nothing worse when chips come lukewarm! ... I washed the food down with two glasses of diet pepsi on the rocks 😊 I enjoyed my meal and would definitely go back 👍🏽

The atmosphere here is incredible! We got to sit in the green house which was even better. The staff are super friendly and extremely helpful and the cocktails are all really lovely, you can’t go wrong with any of them! In terms of COVID, the staff wear masks and keep their distance. For what it is, the food is on the expensive side but it is very tasty. I’ll be coming back again!

Love this place and Sheffield's version is far superior to Leeds. Quite spacious with a very nice separate restaurant area. Food is amazing as well. Doesn't accept cash payments, only card which to be honest will be the norm in a year or two

An incredible selection of food and drinks with a lovely décor. Came as a group and were seated in the little central greenhouse. The decorations around the place were phenomenal. We all shared the 2 boards (Vegan + Non), both were brilliant in taste and portion. The cocktails were amazingly flavourful and no matter which ones we had, all were enjoyed. Would without a doubt come here again!

We went for a graduation celebration lunch and venue is lovely. Service was good but a bit of a shame that so many items on the menu were not available. That being said, the food ordered was lovely and I would definitely come back.

Really good food and the decor is brilliant but the service was very slow. Waited about 20 minutes for the first drinks to arrive. I ordered another drink when the food came which took another 25 minutes, by that time we were finished and ready to go. Everything else is great, just let down by slow service

  • 4/5 Tracey N. 2 years ago on Google
Large party catered for by friendly staff. As always lovely surroundings and good food. The menu choices were restricted due to size of party and the allergens had not been updated. I rang and spoke to a manager as 2 people needed gluten free orders as both coeliac. I was told what to order yet on the night the main and desert were not allowed as both contained gluten. As they have contact numbers I wish this had been addressed before. The desert on offer on the night was ice cream yet the lemon tart was gluten free but only enough for the people who had ordered it. Eating out with a medical allergy is always a worry and being singled out and further restricted choice is not the customer service expected.

  • 4/5 Tony B. 1 year ago on Google
Delicious food in a well presented former boys school building. Two flights of stairs (lift available) were very dimly lit. In contrast the restaurant tables are lit with spotlights - straight in your eyes, causing ridiculous long shadows at the table. Desserts (also delicious and well presented) were ordered with coffee to follow. The coffee, brought before the dessert, had long been drunk when desserts finally arrived. No apology or offer of refill when mentioned to the server.

Great tasty food, a bit pricey but great service and really really yummy. Atmosphere is great as everywhere is has decoration and make you feel comfortable. I recommend the broccoli, halloumi skewer and the fried onion starter, also the mock-tails are delicious.

Not a bad place. It's distinct it has a different vibe a d ate so it's good to come for the experience. I didn't try the food so can't comment on the restaurant but the drinks are ok. They have different cocktails and live music on a Saturday night

(Translated by Google) A place I love in Sheffield! The bar offers super nice cocktails, very good, and even some smoking cocktails! Upstairs the restaurant is just beautiful. The interior decoration is great. The dishes offered are very good. I approve of the hanging kebab! ;) Truly an original and unusual address not to be missed in Sheffield! (or in other cities in England since The Botanist is a chain).

Really enjoy this bar! The only thing I would say is that at £9 per glass of wine it's a bit steep so I personally don't stay for too many, however, it's really nice wine and worth the £££!! Friends have also had the brunch there and loved it so can't wait to try this after lockdown. :)

The Botanist is such a beautiful setting, it's impossible not to appreciate the effort put in to decor. Whilst slightly pricier than your average restaurant, most dishes are worth it in terms of quality. The hot board was delicious, really great salt n pepper pork, however the burgers were slightly below average. Good service considering covid reopening, though a bit slow.

Amazing. We didn’t realise we had to book, arrived and were warmly greeted by Rose, in front of house. She was very welcoming and advised that they may have a table freeing up. We got some drinks and waited under the heaters outside. After 5/10 mins, Rose came over and said that they had a table. Great drinks, even better food. Live music playing (who were great). We’ll definitely go back. If you see this, thanks Rose. From Adam & Lorna.

Pricey for average food and service. Atmosphere is rather empty. Some drunk customers screaming on the nearby table having their own fun at the expense of everyone else. Had the brownie with the white sauce which was not white. It was yellow and tasted off. Waiter was playing on his phone on the front desk outside. Waitresses blazé. Can't say as I'm coming back here again in a hurry.

  • 5/5 Serena R. 3 years ago on Google
We had garlic cheesy loaf to start and scotch egg. The garlic loaf... Presented beautifully in it's own little picnic basket. The scotch egg was cooked perfectly. For main we had the hanging kebabs. If you've never been to the Botanist you are missing a treat as the kebabs are out of this world.

We had our works Christmas Buffet with you on Sunday and had a great time. The food (especially the cauliflower) was delicious and we would definitely recommend it to everyone. The only request would be to have had more ‘party’ style music which would have added to the atmosphere and probably made us stay longer, we went next door to have a bit of a dance. I also forgot ask about the £25 voucher that I should have got ??
