A
great
day
out,
with
interesting
history
and
excellent
views.
The
fort
has
a
large
amount
of
signs
and
things
to
read
as
you
walk
around
the
site
(and
into
the
tunnels!).
You
can
also
buy
a
guide
for
a
small
additional
fee
if
you
want.
It’s
a
really
interesting
day
out,
with
the
fort
being
around
in
some
shape
or
form
since
Henry
VIII’s
time.
It’s
been
designed
to
protect
London
by
defending
the
Thames
passage,
and
there
are
great
views
over
the
river
(and
above),
with
its
distinctive
diamond
shape.
It
wasn’t
too
busy
when
we
went,
though
be
aware
the
car
park
is
a
bit
on
the
small
side,
and
you
need
to
drive
through
a
pub’s
car
park
to
get
to
the
fort’s
one!
It’s
an
English
heritage
site
too,
so
if
you
go
to
more
than
a
few
EH
places
per
year,
it
may
be
worth
getting
the
annual
pass.
Overall,
an
interesting
place
where
you
can
definitely
spend
a
few
hours
learning
about
local
history
and
watching
the
ships
go
by
on
the
Thames.
