We went to the yesterday about 3.30. It was absolutely filthy and disgusting. I have never seen a cafe run so badly. No cake or snacks apart from crisps and some sandwiches which were covered in spilt fresh orange. We queued for 20 minutes to reach the till and was then told no hot food. We had to clear and wipe down a table to have our drink. As we didn't know the area we didn't know where else we could get a drink. Will never return.

CAFE: My wife and I live just outside Bury, so Middlebrook is not really all that local for us. However, we'd noticed on quite a few occasions when visiting M & S for clothes, that there was nearly always a queue for its cafe - were we missing something ? . So first week in November we decided we'd pop in for tea and a couple of toasted teacakes. The order was presented on a tray, teapot was overfilled, so it leaked, teacakes were served on the smallest possible plates, accompanied by 3 butters which, because the plates were so small, had readily turned into a liquid - all very messy, hands covered in melted butter and teacakes, now begining to fall apart. I just felt like a "messy" child - nowhere to put the tray on this tiny table and all for a ridiculous £9.50. We couldn't wait to leave. I felt really stupid as Asda cafe was only a few doors away. Why people queue for this dysfunctional experience, I have no idea !

Amazing customer care on Monday afternoon 20th Feb in Bolton Middlebrook M&S where I discovered my purse had gone missing when at the self service check out (wish I had taken names), especially to the young girl who helped me via security staff who did a thorough check of all the CCTV in store and subsequently contacting me at home. I really appreciate the time you took to help and look into it for me. Thank you so much - deserving of 5+ stars and more ..

I called the main number to make an enquiry about birthday cake but couldn't get past the recorded message. Absolute waste of time. Don't know why they even have a number. I would leave a zero star but there is no option to do this. A very poor service for an otherwise good company.

Just had lunch here and ordered a ciabata roll to eat with some chips and gentleman who works in the kitchen whose name is Wayne came and asked me if I was planning to have a chip butty, which I confirmed I was so he offered me sliced bread instead which made it much more enjoyable. Wish M&S would offer this on the menu So thank you so much Wayne

We shop at Bolton Middlebrook every week. The staff are like family, welcoming, helpful, supportive and will gobout of their way to support you, Staff in clothing and the food hall alike. Anne and Bart are born leaders. We look forward to our weekly visit. Well done M& S .

Refund policy is completely misleading and staff won’t budge. Policy says you need a receipt for proof or purchase. We presented a receipt, but that’s not enough. Needs to be a till receipt apparently, although that’s not what their refund policy says. Certainly wouldn’t stack up in court. Very misleading I need. Won’t be shopping with M&S EVER again. For a £100, you’ve lost about £800 a year revenue. How short sighted.

Such a lovely cafe to go to when shopping at middlebrook. Staff are so friendly. Gentlemen on the till today was so helpful bringing my tray over and anything else I needed because I had my pram with me. Very polite and smiley. Its a breath of fresh air in these very negative times.

Usually good but not impressed with what they did to me today with travel money. So. Cheeky. Can't text, email or online chat anyone. Have to use post or an 0345 number. Not impressed.

I went in your store today with my elderly mother for a bra fitting. The Lady Kate looked after my mother so well with care patience and understanding. An absolute credit to M&S. Thankyou Kate

Terrible attitude just now from Asst SUZANNE who clearly wasn't happy with me at 2 minutes to closing having to change my pack of black grapes to another red one to get the offer of 2 packs for £4. Last week I had picked up a red and a black packet on the offer. I asked could I go to change them as I wasn't paying £2.65 for a punnet which she unhappily seem to agree with. It was her ' rudeness of snatching my receipt from out my hand when I returned and the quick turn of her heels ' to a till behind me to give me the difference I was owed that has made me write my comment. End of the day or not she should remain pleasant.

I had a bra fitting by an extremely nice lady called Andrea on the Middlebrook in Bolton. An expert fitting and lovely bras bought. I can totally recommend the service

Visited with a view to buy a men's winter hoodie but not much to choose from. OK if you're a lady as they seem to stock an array of ladies clothing. On the other hand I still rate M&S as a good shopping experience.

Very friendly and helpful staff. Fitting room ladies sorted me out with correct sized jeans. Very pleasant young man explained situation about shortsleeved casual shirts. None in stock, hence the 4 stars. Lovely cake and coffees in cafe. We will be back.

As soon as we walked through the door we were greeted with a smile from the staff helping us along. Store was generally clean and well placed on the shelving. There was a queue as the checkouts which shows how popular the store is. Thanks M&S for a comfortable experience.

It is a small store with a supermarket (small too) You can find non alcoholic beer, lovely steaks, and I love the pâté, chicken liver pâté. I wish it was larger store. The employees there are great people and very helpful. I love the place.

A bit disappointing today. Shows a decent lunch menu which you can see from the short queue so you can make your choices. Get to the till, find out your first two choices are unavailable and there is a reduced menu on offer (which was long and only verbal so you had to remember from a long list at the till and choose again). Received our pots of tea which were almost cold by the time our meals arrived and weren't very refreshing either. On the plus side, the food was ok and the chef was very pleasant.

Poor cleanliness in the cafe. Young man wiping tables was clearly clueless, wiping all the food on the floor and leaving it. Tables still dirty after being "wiped".

I quite like shopping in this branch of M&S but unfortunately, the café is terrible. I ordered a flat white and the clueless woman behind the counter served up a latte in a small cup. When I pointed out her error the women became very defensive and rude, insisting she had made a flat white. She obviously had no customer service training and continued to try and convince me that I was wrong and she was right. Eventually, the rude woman backed down and served up half a small cup of something that looked and tasted a bit more like a flat white, I then had to sit at a dirty table (no clean ones). My idea of a relaxing few minutes in a café had been ruined. Never again.

Very friendly staff members. The store it self has limited stock in all departments. Mix and blend of everything of M&S - cafe, groceries, cosmetics and clothes. I would call it Mini M&S or M&S Express ;) Doubt if I'll visit here again.

Despite emailing them several times over the months about the lack of cleanliness of the cutlery in the cafe, they come back with shock and scripted answers saying it will get looking into by management and it shouldn't happen , they're very sorry, blah blah blah ..... Only for the dirty cutlery to still be there !!! I've even sent photos of deep stained and generally unclean cutlery, I'm not the only one to spot it either, I've seen customers pick up cutlery only to re-select and/or try and clean with a napkin !!. It's visually obvious dirt for crying out loud!!! It's virtually expected of a greasy spoon ... but this is M&S ...... Maybe they should change the tagline........... This is not just M&S dirty cutlery, this is M&S dirty cutlery It's disgusting M&S
