Fantastic place with great music and even better cocktails , called in for one , ended up staying all night

There is a person that works on security here that has severe anger issues. On Saturday night I witnessed him drag a man to the ground for no reason, he was on another level of anger, if he would have treated a woman the same way he could have easily hurt her. or for argument sake the person he threw to the ground bang his head the outcome could have been very different shocking behaviour and needs something done about him.

Music is good and bar is friendly. Apart from the bouncer pushes and pulls women. Never seen a bouncer be so aggressive

Used to be great back when Mick and Chantel were running gigs, but has gone massively down hill lately. The drink prices are still extortionate, and the atmosphere has been ruined by the unreasonable bouncers and unfriendly bar staff who pick on groups. I understand the Merrion Street area has a bit of a reputation, but tarring all pub goers with the same brush and automatically assuming the worst is out of order. Avoid.

Went here tonight with my girlfriend and friends and they denied my girlfriend access because she had an up to date ID that the staff are clearly not trained to recognise. Not only did this embarrass me as I’m a regular here it embarrassed my friends and girlfriend too. If there was an option to rate this experience 0/10 then I would give it. I will not be returning here ever again after the embarrassment they have caused me and my friends tonight.

The bouncer physically kicked me to the ground while I was taking my last step on the stairs. I was already following him to go out. It was clearly unnecessary and my head got seriously injured. I mean, if I was refusing to go out, it would be totally fine for him to do so. But he did it when I was taking my last step to get out (ON THE STAIRS), he was totally just doing it for fun cause he thinks he can take no responsibility. Here is an advice for him, make sure your target is actually drunk next time! It happened at about 12:30 am on 29th July 2023 btw.

Went for the two-for-twelve cocktails with friends. Good if limited choice and well made without all the pretentious w*nk you get in other places. Staff skilled and friendly. Music choices good if a bit loud for us oldies!

I hired the downstairs Mariachi bar for my 30th, incredible venue, amazing staff and brilliant drinks, I couldn't have asked for more!

Love popping to Verve whenever I can. Specially since their member of staff Abi always makes us feel so welcome it’s like a second home. Deffo would recommend 👍🏻👍🏻👍🏻

Honestly one of the worst nights out, service was awful and would never go back Please do not waste your time or money on this venue, go elsewhere!!! Many other options in the city that have much better reception and atmosphere, never going back!!

Went into ‘verve’ one fine evening. Said to bartender man ‘Alfie’ to surprise me. Not only did he surprise me, he blew my expectations. The cocktail was amazing. Top bloke!

Friendly, helpful and efficicient bar staff. Probably plays the best music of any bar in the city.

Indie/Rock music typical Leeds city centre prices for drinks. Venue is quite small however always a nice atmosphere in here can be really quite at certain times but other than that a nice place to be!

Bar staff on drugs, and very aggressive. The bar staff with a red bandana and top knot was aggressive towards myself and my female friends. We weren’t drunk as it was our first drink out but his eyes were massive and behaviour unpredictable, being aggressive without being provoked. I mentioned to a person that we were next to be served and he mimicked me pretending to cry and was dangerously aggressive to me and my female friends but we hadn’t really drank and the other gentleman had said it’s fine to go first. He then proceeded to shout and be aggressive, again without any triggers other than him clearly being on drugs. This barstaff member was obviously on drugs by his suddenly widening eyes and erratic behaviour. I would genuinely highlight this to anyone going as he’s a worry and has really spooked me tonight. I’m making sure I’m not coming back and will mention to others not to visit.
