The space is less but the taste of food makes it up for a great place to dine in. Delicacies includes Mutton Biryani, meals and mutton liver curry. Best dishes to go for are mutton keema curry and liver curry. The dishes are served on leave plates and serving is quick. The attraction in here is sitting on a Pidha (small wooden stool) and eating in group. The rasam and Curd pachdi are also very tasty. Located near a lake its usually very crowdy.

What words come to your mind when I say things like sitting on the floor, eating homemade food, served on paper plates (we call it pattal) and someone keeps an eye to make sure you are served well and are fully satisfied by the food? Home, right? That's the exact feeling I got when I visited Peedha Hotel for lunch on a Saturday evening. Usually I skip breakfast when I am out of home so that I am able to gorge on some awesome food that a place has to offer without worrying about me going over my calories for the day. It was lunch time and I was feeling really hungry. Bumped into this place on Google and decided to give it a try. And oh boy, what a decision this was! The drill is simple, remove your shoes outside, wash your hands, drink the water they serve, order either the mutton curry or liver curry along with the all you can eat dal, rice and rasam. They also serve some vegetables to go along. Today it was potato Subzi and tomato onion Subzi (at an added price). I would like to give the tomato onion Subzi a special mention. It was sweet and tangy at the same time, the onion gave it a great texture and you could taste fennel in the dish. I went ahead and ordered two servings of this delicious Subzi. The owner told me that this Subzi was made today only. So I felt lucky to have visited this place today. The mutton curry was nice too, with good amount of pieces in it. The dal was pretty standard, like home cooked plain yellow dal. The rasam was sour which went really well with the bland dal and rice. To end the food, they serve buttermilk as well. This place serves mutton pulao, egg curry and mutton curry in the evenings. The meals are exclusive only for lunch. Upon enquiring, the owners said this place has been around for around 60 years now and this is the third generation running this place. I highly recommend you visit this place and experience the food here. Highly highly recommended.

**Local Traditional Food** I am in love with this place. It's so traditional, simple and with delicious food. Pidha means a wooden board which is used to sit. They still have the same traditional way of sitting on the ground on a wooden board (see pics) placed on the ground. As soon as you sit, rice will be brought in pattal (dish madhe of leaf), then comes dal (lentils) and Charu (appetizers). Finally comes the classic mutton curry and if you ask they will server kaleji curry (lever curry). Everything is traditionally made and is served with love. Small pieces of mutton are tender and nicely cooked. Both the curry taste authentic with rice and dal. The crowd here shows that people still prefer simple traditional food above the fast food or costly restaurant. This place is highly recommended in Berhampur. Now let's see how it stands on CLAPS rating: C - Cuisine: No words to describe how pleased one would be after eating here. I went here at 10.30am in the morning and it was still crowded. Full ⭐ for maintaining the simplicity and tradition. L - Location: It's a small place but the place can easily be noticed when you pass from here just by the crowd standing out. And this needs no big sign board. Full ⭐. A - Ambience: There is no comparison when it comes to traditional way of sitting on ground. The sitting area is simple with 12 Pidha, clean and tidy. Full ⭐. P - Price: With it's name, food and tradition the price is ok. I paid 240 for everything you can see on pattal. With this taste and experience, I give it a full ⭐ here as well. S - Service: With only one menu, the service is fast. Food will be served within minutes. Staff is polite and cooperative. Full ⭐. I would highly recommend this in your list of places in Berhampur. It's a class in itself. Note: My review is based on my personal experience and you may have a different experience.

I saw in Google the pidha hotel is famous for mutton meal in behrampur but when i go there i see that the quantity of mutton is very less and the quality is not good.....my humble request to the owner of this hotel please visit Nana hotel in Phulnakhara or Bhaina hotel in Durdarsan, Bhubaneswar for training how to make mutton curry.

This is a very old small restaurant cooking Homely food famous for mutton curry and chicken curry. Very famous within locals. In my finding i thought the restaurant is over rated. Price is as per quantity but not a great ambient and am not impressed with the food.

We heard a lots of rave reviews of this dhaba but we don't like the taste most. It's an average on basis of taste. And if you love ambiance of of a place you will surely get disappointed. Price is usual.

Taste is really good, especially mutton curry and also do try their mutton pulao, whenever you visit Berhampur. And getting a place to sit over there is a struggle in itself, there will a huge crowd waiting in queue.

One of the most famous in Berhampur. We used to drool over it's food in our teenage times. Have to be honest, even if it's delicious, the taste is bit degraded than earlier.

Was that a mutton curry ? Seriously !! All mutton pieces are same and too small. Pieces are cut like as Paneer and very hard to chew. Change the name to Mutton-Paneer. Quantity is also very less. Much spicy too. Not going to visit again.

Over hipped after went on YouTube, very small, i would say grind pieces of mutton with bones, you will not enjoy mutton because of small pieces that to with small bones. Spider net everywhere not cleaned, plus they dont even serve raita as complementary, charge extra for raita even for 1st time. It is just unique coz they use old way of seating on ground and eat. Not recommended.

Mutton curry preparation was extremely poor. It could be one of the off days. However, I must state what I get on that day. Mutton curry was nowhere near to the taste it is highlighted everywhere. It was like mutton keema, with curry having no taste of authentic mutton curry. Liver kasa was also not up to the mark. Must improve. Could be it is enjoying the name it earned when the food was actually good back in decades or few years back. Today, the only thing special about the hotel is "Pidha." I would recommend buying Pidha and eating home cooked mutton if you want to experience eating good food while sitting on pidhaπŸ˜‹

Mutton was really good but the space of that place is too small for lunch

  • 3/5 DICKY M. 1 year ago on Google
A old traditional, but over hyped hotel. Mutton curry don't taste homestyle and lack spicyness. They are not in pieces, rather all are grinded/shredded and look more like Kheema. Tastes bland somedays too. Just one time experience is OK to have, but not worth having every time. People who love Homestyle red spicy Mutton curry, wont like it here. They don’t make you feel having a Non Veg curry at all. Price has also gone up.

Food quality and taste is good. But according to price quantity is not justified . There is no option for vegitarian. And that's the most disappointing thing.

Go for it ... Signature Liver fry and mutton curry (small keema like pieces ) .. the price ,the quantity and the test will not disappoint you.. must try if you are travelling to berhampur.
