Area is too beautiful and surrounded with greenery and hills. Dam's gate is closed but there is way to go to the place to see the beauty of this place. I can't describe the beauty of this area as nature is the most destructive player in the world. Before visiting this place, please do remember some points: 1. Banapur to Salia dam is approximately 14kms. 2. Road isn't too good however work is in the progress. 3. Road is very much empty so little care about your existence. 4. As per the words of few people this place isn't too Safe. So go with your family and friends. Maybe you can go in daylights. 5. Only one shop is there, so buy some foods outside to come here. 6. Don't carry too much cash. Overall this is a beautiful place, so Local government needs to take care of this place to offer a safe place to the tourists.

Salia dam is situated in the Barbara forest of odisha. It is approx. 1hr distance from banpur market. All way you'll find forest both the side, which gives greenery environment and also surrounded with mountains. Having single way road with lumps surface. It's good place for picnic spot, After visiting salia dam you can also visit the chilka lake and Maa Bhagabati temple while returning to home via. banpur-balugoan road.

The Dam is situated in Barbara Forest of odisha, approx-1 hour far from Banpur market, you will find two temples in front of dam the place is awesome and nice place for picnic, whole forest is handled by Odisha Govt. and CRPF camp situated in forest. On the way to dam you can see many villages aside and farm field, and u can see deers and peacocks in the forest.

The road to the Dam is not well maintained for about 2-3 kms, other than that it is quite a beautiful spot to visit.

Nice place ..a dam ...a high house point...a temple ...picnic place but unsure about the safety because of the distance from the main road to the location runs through a rough road and jungle ...saw some wild peacocks midway and heard about the presence of cat's family from the locals.

It is a very scenic and good picnic spot. Around 15 kms from Banapur and about 25 kms from Balugaon. The 10 kms road just before this beautiful place was in worst condition and we could not understand why government is not minding in making a all weather road to such a nice tourist destination. It was a feast to our eyes and appeared as if we were passing through a patch of Uttarakhand forest area. The dense, green forest for about 10/12 kms in both the sides of the road makes one spellbound. It is a big water reservoir and very helpful for irrigation. Now they have locked the entry to the front side road that overlooking the dam due to unknown reasons. Some concrete pandals (pindis) have been built at the side under the dense shade of the trees for the picknickers but most of them have been half broken due to lack of proper supervision. Hope, if given proper attention by the government this could be one of the best Boating and scenic spots of Odisha.

Wonderful place for outing, hangout. Salia Irrigation Dam Project of Odisha, 20 KM from Beguniapada Ganjam, 15 kms from Banpur town under the Khordha Irrigation Division. Picnicers are attracted towards its natural scenic beauty. It is a spot of nature.

Very good place. But situated in very bad area. The roads are completely uneven. Its closed since 2 years. You can enter from side. It was very rough ride. Dont go if u have no idea about that place. And dont follow google map. It will land you in heal.

Its a good natural place but the last connection 5km road is in worse condition otherwise nice place for picnic

  • 4/5 Bimal Kumar M. 1 year ago on Google
A serene location in the heart of thick jungle. Avoid to go in bike or low ground clearance cars during rainy seasons as the roads are very bad. Its a photo spot with thick Jungles and Mountains on one side and calm and serene water reservoir on the other. This place does not have more than one shop within a radius of 5 Kms so carry water and other necessary amenities with you. You can have picnic here but please dont pollute this nice place with litters. Local authorities must look into improving the roads and set up of ticket booths to make this place a good tourist spot and harvest the finacial profits thereafter.

Fine place but the picnic pendis are littered and is very dirty, one needs to clean the entire area then only he can think of cooking there. Also the major disadvantage is, hardly a bus agrees to go to that place because of narrow roads, so a college picnic is almost impossible.

⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ Witnessing the sunset at Salia Dam was an awe-inspiring experience! The way the sun painted the sky with hues of orange, pink, and purple was simply breathtaking. The serene waters of the dam mirrored the vibrant colors, creating a picturesque scene that felt straight out of a postcard. It's a perfect spot for nature lovers and photography enthusiasts alike. The peaceful ambiance, coupled with the stunning view, makes it an ideal place to unwind and appreciate the beauty of nature. I highly recommend visiting Salia Dam to catch a glimpse of one of the most beautiful sunsets you'll ever see! 🌅📸

Good place to visit if you have time. This place is very peaceful & Nature lover will love this place a lot. Full of greenery. 🏔️🌱. Salia Irrigation Dam Project of Odisha, 15 kms from Banpur town under the Khordha Irrigation Division of water resources department, government of Odisha. this dam is being built on River Salia and is located amidst the stunning locales. About 25 km from Rambha and 15 km from Barakul, the Salia Dam is the most eligible location for sight-seeing and some adventurous leisure trips. The area also proves an eminent witness of an array of avifaunal varieties, both native and migrant as their winter stopover to make this area most formidable in India. There are also fisheries and salt pans around its shores.

This Dam is pretty near to Chillika Lake. At the distance about 14km to the west Banapur the Salia Dam has been constructed amidst a picturesque site. Here one can enjoy the beauty of nature. The total length of river is about more than 28 miles. The dam is constructed in catchment area which is about 69000 acres connecting two hills on both sides and services as a minor irrigation project. It also has nice walk way on dam which has no entry fee or anything.

Place is good to spend some time. Will suggest dont go in any holiday else it will be crowded. Better to visit any casual day when visitors are less. Also it is a good picnic spot you will enjoy it. Thought road is not is good condition from banpur area or from barkul area so you may not enjoy the traveling. I think once the roads are repaired you will enjoy the road trip as well. Overall good place. You can visit the dam from main gate also you can visit the other end which is 2-3 km ahead from main gate.

A beautiful place.two ways to go to Salia Dam on the way from chilika to khurdha...one that nearest to chilika is the worst road to choose but another way i.e few 2-4 km away from BARAKULA(Main entrance of chilika)i.e; the best way to ride to Salia Dam..Nice place for picnic..Beautiful sight. And if it's ur day then u may see the peacock(BANUA MAYURA)through ur way in the jungle.Always have drinking water 💦 with u.

Old dam with very few gates. However, this place is really scenic. Situated around 18 kms from highway, the route is not great for hatch/sedan. Good place for a short photo session or half day picnic. It's not very far from the famous Narayani temple.

👍👍 A great place to visit. Between 120-150Km from Cuttack and Bhubaneswar. In between the jungle and a great vibe. Safe for family and girls too. Roads are not properly made so be careful towards it.
