Kalijai Temple is located on an island in Chilika Lake of Odisha's Ganjam district. It is temple of Goddess Kalijai. There is famous story about Kalijai. The girl, named as Jai, who was returning to her father-in-law's house for the first time. But, her boat was capsized in the rough storm and she met tragic death and became the deity Kalija. Since than people started worshiping her. Chilika Lake is the largest brackish water lake, amongst the largest lagoons in the world. Kalijai Temple is about 105 km away from Bhubneswar. OTDC Panthanivas, Barakul is the best place for lodging and fooding for tourist. From Barkul by boat one can reach Kalijai island. This island is the largest wintering place for migratory birds. It is wonderful place, I had visited Kalijai Temple in January, 2019. Here tourist attraction is motor boat ride, seeing jumping Irrawaddy dolphins in the lake and many species of birds. It is amazing place to visit with family and friends.

Kalijai Temple is located on an island in Chilika Lake. It is considered to be the abode of the Goddess Kalijai. Goddess Kalijai is actually Kali, the source and the first 'Mahavidya' of 'Dasmahavidyas'. Highly revered by the local populace, the deity has been venerated in the local folklores and legends. The island provides an excellent destination for pilgrims as well as tourists. Every year in January, a huge gala fair is held during the festival of Makar Sankranti.

Maa Kalijai temple located in Chilika Lake. The temple is situated on an island in the middle of the lake and is dedicated to Goddess Kalijai. It is believed that the goddess protects the fishermen and sailors who venture out into the lake. The temple is a popular pilgrimage site for devotees who come to offer prayers and seek blessings from the goddess. Visitors can reach the temple by taking a boat ride from the nearby villages. The serene surroundings and the spiritual atmosphere make Maa Kalijai temple a must-visit destination for those who want to experience the religious and cultural significance of Odisha.

We were of 25pax from Bengaluru and purchased the tickets from OTDC run by govt which costed us less of Rs.125/- per person. But visiting this place from Bhubaneswar takes around 6-8hrs. Plan accordingly

A very nice temple located in the middle of Chilka Lake. The 45 minute boat ride from the boating point will take you to the kalijai temple. The island temple has enough space to accommodate a large number of visitors. many boats reach this place every day. The boating experience is very thrilling and it is said that dolphins may be seen.if we are lucky we can spot them also. We can cover Birds island and some other islands also in the trip to kalijai temple.

Kalijai Temple is located on an island in Chilika Lake. It is considered to be the abode of the Goddess Kalijai. Awesome place with some interesting historical stuff. If you're planning for visit to Maa Kalijaee, visit it in the first half of the Morning time. B'coz the waves are little high on afternoon time and This place is restricted after 4pm. Morning time you can get a boat from OTDC office @100/person, otherwise you can get a private boat anytime @1200.

One of the great spot to have a weekend trip and get some sunshine 🌄 view and enjoy the nature with pure and fresh air around the Chilika lake , the boating system by government is available for ₹100 per person, don't hire private small boat ⛵ until you don't have opinions or you need them for some personal reasons. Private Boat are in double the rate person compared to govt safety boat ⛵. 1 . Morning 7.30 the tickets selling for Boat will be started 2. Yatri nivas set up local municipality, which is cleaned and we'll maintained. 3. Before taking any option for stay visit 2 or 3 stay and get booked your own stay 4. Don't ean local restaurants, they don't serve good food, if you have time before reaching the Chilika, 14 km away there is "Narayani restaurant" where you will get best food in reasonable price and with great ambiance. 5. You don't eat at any dhaba at baligan town, most of them don't cook food as expected ( my experience) 6. In balugaon town you will get one restaurant named " Chilika hotel" can try for sometimes Breakfast is good over here, you can have anywhere, people are friendly and supportive.

If you are planning to visit Kalijae, visit it in the first half of the morning because the waves are little high on the second half of the day and u cant spend much time there. I will advise to book boat through OTDC (Govt.). Safety and affordable. Rs.106 per person, when i have visited. For lunch, you can have it in PanthaNivas Chillika.

Maa kalijai temple is a beutiful place in Chilika lake . You can go here with in 4.00pm bcz after that there is no boat . The boat fees is 1500 upto 10 people. You can go this place for blessing of maa kalijai and experience the beauty of Lake in any day but I recommend winter season is the best time for visit bcz many birds from different countries are seen in this lake.

An ancient and very spiritual place of Maa Kali. Temple located in an island can be reached via Steamer and Boat. Prefer State Govt Boats to visit the Shirine.

Kalijai Temple is located on an island in Chilika Lake. It is considered to be the abode of the Goddess Kalijai. The island provides an excellent destination for pilgrims as well as tourists. This temple is located at a hill which is surrounded by blue water. Local people of Chilika refer to goddess as the reigning deity of the lagoon. In winter you can see migratory birds as well. Enjoy the floating bridge but be careful while doing so. You can go to the temple from barkul via Boat. You have to book a ticket for the boat and the boat will take you to the temple.

Most awaited visit . awesome experience . Read about Maa Kalijai temple from childhood days in our text books but somehow was not lucky enough to visit this temple . Recently during a friend's get together visited this divine place . The experience is awesome . The boat will take you to this place with the wavy waters of chilika lake welcoming you to the island. The birds on the way will greet you making your short water ride a memorable one . Do not for her to buy some snacks for them either from the leaving point or from Kalijai temple island. The moment we reached there there was a divine atmosphere with a lot of people doing the Bhajan and Kirtan for maa kalijai . Was lucky enough to get the darshan with a small que for the same . The environment is very happening . The temple is full of colors and crowd . The various puja offering shops are there to buy the offerings . There is a very UNIQUE stone at the temple premises which floats in water .I heard about the same but never had a chance to experience it . Everything was awesome at the place . A quite happening one . Must visit place to take blessings for Maa kalijai during your visit to chilika .👌👌

"It's not about the destination but the journey that we travel."❤️ Kalijai Temple, nestled in the heart of Chilika, Odisha, is a mesmerizing testament to spiritual serenity. Surrounded by the tranquil waters of the Chilika Lake, the temple emerges as a divine oasis. The journey to this sacred site, often undertaken by boat, adds an enchanting touch to the pilgrimage. As the boat glides through the calm waters, the temple gradually reveals itself, perched on an island like a hidden jewel. The breathtaking view of the lake stretching into the horizon creates a sense of peaceful isolation. The temple itself is a humble yet powerful structure, exuding an aura of devotion. The pristine surroundings amplify the spiritual experience, making it more than a religious journey; it becomes a communion with nature. The lake's expansive waters, teeming with avian life, provide a harmonious backdrop to the temple's sacred atmosphere. At sunset, the temple radiates a golden glow, casting a spellbinding reflection on the rippling waters. The symphony of chirping birds and the gentle lapping of waves complete the sensory immersion. Kalijai Temple is not merely a religious site; it is a sanctuary where divinity meets the untamed beauty of Chilika, leaving visitors with a profound and tranquil imprint of the divine in nature's embrace.

Good place to visit. I visited recently. So many things changed. Motor boat replaced the manual boats that cuts the time to visit the island significantly still it gets approx 30-40 minutes to reach yhe island from the coast.

A nice place to visit. U can reach here by train(nearest railway station- Balugaon, Chilika & kalijai). U have to hire a boat to reach there (around 20km boat ride). There are different point present in the lake(bird island, nalabana etc) Boating price vary based on how many points u want to visit. No one stays at kalijai temple at night. There is a belief that, at night different different sounds come... There are few meals/snacks food stalls. Snacks are not at all good. Just because u r hungry and don't have any other options, u have to eat. Or else they are just looting people
