Terrible service. Beautiful ambience, but oh god! Terrible service! At 7 in the evening, three of us friends ordered drinks and one of our friends ordered main course. We asked for french fries on the side and the waiter refused. When we asked why, he said, we cant serve side dish without the main course. When we mentioned, we have ordered a main course, the waiter said, yes, but your friend ordered that. And french fries will be for you. So no. What? So now as a restaurant they want to watch who ordered what and if that person is eating the dish they ordered or letting your friend have it? Absolutely ridiculous!

I am amending my review after our last visit. Botanic drops from a 5-star to 2-star… Last week we went to Botanic at Budejoviska to celebrate my wife’s birthday. For years, Botanic had always been our “go to” place for special occasions, and my first choice to impress business colleagues, but we were very disappointed to discover it isn’t what it once was. From the new menu, that features cheaper ingredients at the same or higher prices, (and deleting our favourites) to the condescending waiter that gave the impression we were wasting his time, the overall experience was lacklustre. We found ourselves trying hard to enjoy the meal in spite of the poor experience. The bill topped over five thousand kc for two adults and two teenagers; a total of four glasses of wine included. For this amount I think it’s reasonable to expect much better. I’m only guessing, but I think the chef has changed. The steak tartare was a modern art disaster, poorly mixed, without the traditional fried bread and topped with mussels (?!?!) a artistic attempt that fails miserably. The egg was missing and the Worcestershire sauce was never mixed in so I got a whole tablespoon of the stuff in a single bite. I ordered a rib eye and got something else completely (and was charged at ribeye prices). The waiter tried pushing the seafood specials, then when we tried to order the broiled sea bass, he argued it would be too big and didn’t want to let us order it. He seemed too preoccupied to take care of our table and only tried to rush us through our order. Superficially, it looks the same but Botanic has unfortunately become a hollowed out shell of its former self. Does this look like a ribeye?? Not to me. I’d guess it’s actually a flank steak, also not bad, but costing about 1/3 less from the butcher. There are so many other great places in Prague where you can enjoy a meal we see no reason to return and I suggest you take a pass as well. Previous review from two years ago below: My favorite restaurant in Prague. The food is perfect, the great steaks are my favorite, but you will be happy with everything on the menu. The cuisine is a good mix of modernized Czech and international recipes for meats, fowl, and some limited fish (only the freshest available.) The attention to detail with the food preparation and service is impeccable. Each meals is paired with some starch and vegetables so it’s a complete meal. The prices are very fair for the portions and quality. Nice wine list as well. The restaurant benefits from being a bit out from the center so it doesn’t suffer from being spoiled by tourists. The atmosphere is comfortably upscale and the waiters attentive, professional and friendly. A good place for a special evening or a prospective business meeting.

Excellent food. The only watch out is the linguini- it is really quite spicy! The service was truly amazing, very quick and they went above and beyond to show me the red wine bottle I was drinking because I enjoyed it so much. You technically cannot park right in front of the restaurant so I recommend parking at the Budejovicka metro and walk less than five minutes

I think the word fabulous can describe perfectly this place. Starting from the location the place it’s a charm, elegant, classy and with attention to any little detail. The cuisine is paradisiac I liked everything from the starter to the coffee, it’s impossible to find something wrong in the dishes: taste, ingredients, combinations, portions everything absolutely gorgeous. We had vitello tonnato, linguine in lobster bisque and prawns, orecchiette with veal ragout and white chocolate cheesecake with berries , I highly recommend everything and I am looking forward to go back and try other dishes. Last but not least the service that was impeccable: very kind and prepared waiters. Also the prices for what we ate I think are very fair and accurate I am highly satisfied from this experience and I give the maximum rating possible to everything.

The lamb chop is the best lamb chop we have ever had. Perfectly cooked and so tender, the rib eyes was cooked beautifully pink and really good. We love our experience tonight, the service was friendly, relaxing vibe. We would love to visit again if we come back here!

Kind of a classy restaurant with a nice interior. It is next to a frequented road which is the only thing that ruins the otherwise awesome experience. The tables are so close together that you basically sit with other people. The food has always been fresh and tasty, except our salmon that was dry and bland. Poor fish! I recomment making a reservation, especially in the summer if you want to sit on the veranda which is the best thing ever.

Unnecessarily expensive. Waitress rolling her eyes when she needs to repeat what meals she brought at the table. The restaurant seems targeting to be high profile, but they cannot afford offering their customers even a napkins to put on their laps. For the cuisine, the food is good but not competitive to other restaurants, even from closest area.

Great hospitality, amazing foods, very fresh prawns, satisfying homemade chocolate fondant and cappuccino. We sat outside so didn’t get to see much of the interior, but it looked very nice and interesting inside by a short glance. Definitely recommend this place.

Very nice and friendly staff, incredible food. The interior looks also super nice. Very good for business lunches/dinners or romantic dates. I had a medium rare steak - it was so tender the knife went through it like butter. Delicious. Absolutely recommend it!

I have been several times in this place and in general the service is good. But today one of the waiters discriminated me, just because I asked him about a main dish on the menu —> he said “where are you from” I replied to him, and then he said “that’s why”… excellent service, very kind of you!! (Sarcasm)

Following a very pleasant visit earlier this week I returned with my wife to this restaurant for dinner. The ambience is very relaxing, the chairs comfortable and a good sized table to sit us both. However, today's experience fell someway short - in fact, we cut our time there and skipped the deserts. We ordered drinks - my wife a gin and tonic and I had a glass of Rioja. We also (twice) asked for some tap water. but were provided with a bottle of Mattoni. We supposed that they use these bottles for tap water but it seems not - we were charged for Mattoni water on our bill. The gin and tonic was 'lazy' - no flair in its presentation at all and my red wine was so cold I had to warm it in my palm for some while before attempting it. First of all, I having enjoyed the tomato and basil soup previously, we had this classic soup this evening but it was over-sweetened, very oily and over-seasoned. It would have benefited being served with some bread (which we requested). My wife then decided on the steak tartare and I plumped for the quail. My wife left most of the steak tartare - it was overpowered by truffle making it rather unpleasant.. I tried it myself and absolutely agreed with this analysis. My quail was nicely cooked and overall, it was not a bad dish. The service was good from the gentleman who partly served us but the young girl who also participated in our service did not seem to reflect the high standards that the guy provided. Anyway - it is about the food. My wife was disappointed which meant I was as well. This can be a good experience as many have found out before and indeed, I did a few days ago but today it did not 'click'.

+ Great atmosphere, beautifully decorated + amazing food, great service. + great place for business and family or friends If I would pick the restaurant for a romantic dinner for two, NO. - The tables are very close to eachother, . With every sweet word you whisper your loved one, the neighbour tables start blushing.

This is a great place in the neighborhood. The food was really good, the atmosphere nice and service great. We had 2 beers, 1 dish and dessert each for 400 czk per person (15 euros) I definitely recommend!

I just ate today very disappointed. Service is not enthusiastic, food is expensive but not delicious. I ordered 2 steaks today and when I paid they charged 4 servings, I wondered because 1 serving of 100g costs 270kc and mine costs 200g, so they charge 4 servings, plus 65kc sauce and 85kc separate vegetables. in total I had to pay 1500kc with water for 2 servings of bad steak, very disappointed, I will never come back. so bad restaurant 👎🏻👎🏻👎🏻👎🏻👎🏻👎🏻

We sat in outside terrace and didn't see the interior but the outside place was nicely decorated. Food tasted great, for my liking the portion was small and price was expensive, but it's this kind of restaurant and i knew what I'm going for. The have special botanica beer, which tastes mild and a bit fruity, in a good way. Plus the service was great!

Overpriced. 275 crowns for two half-glasses of orange juice is a steal. Food is good though.
