I volunteered at CE in 2017 for a month. I can tell you right now that everyone there, from Staff to volunteers, only has the animal's welfare at the forefront. It was one, if not, THE most incredible experiences of my life so far. And we did learn about each species of cat, wolf and even Meerkat. They love all the animals beyond belief. As a volunteer, we also had to conduct tours of the project. Which was not only fun for us, but informative for the tourist. This place stays so very strong in my heart. They try to introduce breeds back into the wild or protected wild as often as they can and are staunchly against canned hunting for all breeds. Not just lions. And they can give you information about this. They do the most wonderful job there. Every single animal in their care is happy, healthy and cared for, like their own children. I for one, can't wait to come back and see everyone, one day. The staff, animals and volunteers. We're all in it for the same reason.

This amazing place has given me so much knowledge about how to help protect our wildlife in big ways and small ways. Our guide was a lovely lady from Hungary, she taught me so much and made the experience worth every second. I hope we can appreciate our wildlife the way Za Cheetah Conservation does. Thank you guys so much for sharing the animals stories and educating us on important topics.

Absolutely recommended! Great (and cheap) way to get up close and personal with various wild cats. The volunteers are very friendly, competent and clearly enjoy their work. It's best to call in advance and announce your visit, as there is often not that much going on and the tour advertised on the website may therefore be cancelled. This organization deserves every support and takes extremely loving care of the animals that live there.

We were driving past and saw the sign and decided to go in. It was ok I guess. Barely saw any animals, the tour guide told us she's a tourist who's currently volunteering there and when we asked if the organisation spent time educating them about the animals and she said all they do is clean up after the animals and feed them. She made me question if the facts she was sharing was correct. I felt like the tour was not really a tour. We just walked around and she would point and say in there there's a leopard and we really barely saw any animals. I'd skip this

Take the tour! Always a great experience to see and learn more about the Cheetahs and other animals there. As it's all outdoors go prepared with hat, comfy clothes and sunscreen!

We went for a photography tour and I must say that it was absolutely amazing! The big cats had beautiful enclosures with lots of space and vegetation. It really warmed my heart how the ranger talked about them. All the animals are loved and taken really good care of. Definitely recommend a visit!

We loved visiting. Hope to be back soon. Definitely worth your time. We loved seeing all the cats and learning about them. Thank you for doing such great conservation work and allowing us to be apart of it. Faith was the star favourite and next the gorgeous leopards. The gift shop was great, we really like the different option that you had.

One of the best conservancies I have ever visited. Enclosures are massive and some of the best kept I have ever seen. Animals are in great condition, happy and obviously loved. Highly recommended!

What a wonderful tour we had! A day well spent with the children. We had a wonderful and knowledgeable tour guide, Philip who was very patient and answered all our questions. There are drinks and snacks for sale which helps if you have young children. The work they all do is amazing. Would highly recommend.

Very enjoyable outing and fees going toward a good cause. Place is beautifully constructed and maintained. Although a Cheetah sanctuary, most of the cat family are there to be viewed up close. Well recommended.

What I appreciate about this place is the evidence of how funding has been spent. The enclosures etc are designed well and to the benefit of the animals. The place is well run. This place is serious about the welfare of the animals. Wish there were more places like it.

Unbelievable place! Great cause, friendly vibrant staff and most importantly some beautiful animals (mostly rescued and re-habilitated)! Also such good value for money, I would expect people to pay close to double for the experience.

Amazing experience. Animals are happy and well taken care of. One tip, don't wear skirts, the cheetah might want to play with it which potentially could be dangerous.

What an experience! I love the fact that it's not a petting zoo vibe, rather they genuinely care for the animals and make sure they are treated with the respect they deserve. They care for rescued animals, rehabilitate animals and care for and breed with cheetah - releasing them into the wild when they are ready. I fully recommend the tour, it's worth your time and you're supporting a worthwhile cause.

Disappointed that we didn't get to see the big cats being fed. Lovely clean cages and the animals looked well cared for. The walk is a bit far for elderly or the disabled.

We spent a fantastic long weekend inside the compound at Cheetah Experience. Ziggy & Zaggy, the local Zebras, visited us multiple times (& left us some gifts.. 😉) The volunteers are just amazing! So passionate, dedicated & truly love each & every gorgeous animal they take care of. And those beautiful children are magnificent.

The best place to learn about big cats. International and local volunteer programs are available. The animals are in big enclosures and loved by the staff and volunteers. Being a local volunteer myself for 8 year, I can recommend any one who loves animals to visit this project.

Great service even on short notice. The tour guide was very friendly and had good knowledge of all the animals and it is evident that they love and care for the animals deeply. We would definitely recommend doing the tour.

It is an experience to be able to see the lions, Cheetah's, and some other wild animals up close. Tour guide, Phillip, was good and communicated good to the tourists who were with us. If you have children, just make sure you have toys or things to distract them or to keep them entertained as it can get them bored quite quick. Also, these big cats like small children so you will be able to see some bit of action where they keep a close eye on them. It is very safe.

I volunteered last year and I am coming back this one. The staff is super professional and friendly. Riana (the owner) is a really inspiring and passionate person. Animals are wealthy, loved, cared and kept in clean and big enclosures. Safety for both animals and people is an absolute must. Being there has been an absolute life-changing experience and can’t wait to be back again!

Go and see what these volunteers have done and still are doing for the cheetahs, lions, leopards, tiger and many more animals. They are doing a real good job by rescuing these animals and participating in breeding programs for cheetahs.

  • 4/5 Mike H. 4 years ago on Google
This is a very good educational experience. Their focus is about the work they perform, and they don't criticize other "game" sanctuaries. A visit to the centre will definitely provide an opportunity to learn and help both the visitors and the centre. Many international volunteers work there also. Travelers between Gauteng and other provinces using the N1 should spend the 2 hours there and enjoy the stop.
