It's always great to visit, even if you're simply having a picnic on the lawn, leading to the museum. Just grab a blanket and some food, find some shade under one of the many trees and enjoy👍🏻

A very welcome, central location to unwind and appreciate art. An extensive collection of local artists. Wooden sculptures are for sale. Little know fact, Oliewenhuis has some hiking trails with incredible views of the city.

Grounds and building is well maintained, art exhibits are good, would have like to see a bigger range of collectors art etc. But overall was worth the visit indeed.

The place is worth visiting. To appreciate the work of others and unwind outside, while enjoying the view of outside sculptures and the feeling of outdoors. The place could really use a restaurant or at least a cafe because, after exploring different parts of the museum personally I was worn out and needed a drink or something sweet to recharge. What I've noticed about the museum is that they give people an opportunity showcase their craft, if that is not the reason then I suppose they can do better because some pieces weren't all that if you understand what I mean. The best highlight for me was the section for blind people, yes if you have a blind friend(s) or a family member who appreciates art, then allow them to tag along! Fyi: there are cats and the ones at the back love attention #smiles

I was pleasantly surprised on my recent visit. Good collection, friendly staff. Had coffee at The Terrace restaurant afterwards. Many people enjoyed the lawns in front of this museum, but it wasn't crowded - good place for a picnic. Gardens are in a good condition.

The museum is very beautiful and gives you a good panoramic view of modern and contemporary African art. The building has a classical style and the garden is amazing. It’s an impressive place to spend a couple of hours it you’re passing by the city. The entrance is free.

We are artists ourselves and loved our visit to Oliewenhuis Art Museum so much. Being able to experience the works of South Africa's best artists up close and personal was very special. If you love art this is the one venue in Bloemfontein that you just cannot miss!!

A great place to visit if you're an art enthusiast or you just want to have a chilled day on the lawn.... Pity with this water shortage the grass isn't what it used to be but still a great place to chill in the shade. Plus it's pawfect for the lil furry friends ?

The art in the museum is very interesting. I thoroughly enjoyed it. I was disappointed to see they were busy installing some other artwork which I missed out on... There aren't any card facilities. Make sure you take cash. There is also no restaurant 😕 All in all a very average visit

One of the only places in Bloemfontein that is still so well maintained. This museum, gallery and park is gorgeous. The gallery always had incredible exhibitions and you can take a hike too.

Entrance used to be for free. Now its R10 per vehicle. I really dont mind as I know they need to keep the maintenance up on the garden. No where there was signs up that visiting the gardens has changed from free to paying. Only at the gate at arrival. So what about the people that come to visit that knows entrance are free? But... What upset me the most I wasn't even allowed to use the bathroom when visiting there. (Yes I did pay the R10 to visit the place) Plus I am a expecting mother.

For a nature and history lover, this is definitely one of the best places to visit in Bloemfontein. Asides the museum, there's a lovely open field area that's perfect for picnic. Always neat! It's got a functioning jungle gym for kids, endless field for them to run around and the best part? You don't have to pay a dime. Just come with your food and get comfortable.

Best contemporary art museum in Bloemfontein. You can take a mini hike through their hiking trails and have a quick siesta on the lawn. The facility is safe as there are security guards throughout the Museum and is comforting to know that I can take a nap without anything happening to me. I love it.

Upkeep of grounds has been severely lacking the past couple of months. More thorns and thistles than grass to such an extent that the little ones can't walk or run around without wearing shoes. Very disappointing :-/

(Translated by Google) Our recent visit to the museum was unfortunately disappointing. The collection had to be rearranged after an exhibition, which unfortunately has to happen. We then wanted to have lunch on the beautiful terrace overlooking the beautiful, artful garden, but it was very disappointing. The order remained and eventually we left after waiting more than five minutes without having eaten. Unfortunately. Jammer.

A hidden gem. Some really stunning thought provoking exhibitions for the intellectuals. Beautiful well maintained gardens for the romantics and even a play area for the kids. The restaurant isn't the greatest.

Not only is the art exquisite but the building and grounds are equally impressive. The building once served as the official residence for the State Presidents of South Africa during official visits to Bloemfontein. The museum holds on display historical and contemporary art. Entrance is free. You can easily spend 2 hours just admiring the various art pieces. The museum also holds sculptures.

Show casing over nearly a 1000 works art annually there's a lot for art lovers. Beyond the art there's a great restaurant and amazing hiking trails.

Never in my life have I had such a bad experience when eating somewhere, The Terrace tea garden at the Oliewenhuis Art Museum is positively terrible. The staff are slow and they are argumentative. I recieved the wrong order and when I sent it back they charged me for both the wrong and the right order. NEVER COME HERE!

What a rude concierge...as a mature adult who has been to art galleries across the world, I was horrified on entering the gallery to be pulled aside by the concierge and told not to touch the artwork when I had not even walked past the gallery entrance. Further the restaurant was closed so one could not even buy a cup of tea. It is the art on display which earns the two stars.

A beautiful gallery with a lovely garden. The trials through the natural foliage are one of my favourite hidden gems of Bloemfontein. The trials and gardens are dog friendly. The exhibitions are well thought out and presented beautifully. I would like to see the museum reopen its restaurant for public use outside of big events as this is a lovely place to sit and read or drink coffee with friends.

It was not made clear at all that there is now an entrance fee of R10. This must be communicated online etc as well as the entrance I know it has been December holidays but I must say that the standard of the garden is really shocking and the jungle gym not in a good condition. Hope something will be done to make it worthwhile to visit.
