An affordable fine dining establishment, you can expect to spend roughly around R500 for a three course meal. They have an extensive selection of wine and an aesthetically pleasing bar. The ambience is very nice, especially for people between the ages of 18 and 35. I wouldn’t call it a family-friendly establishment which is okay, since families are not their target market anyway. But my family and i did have a good time there. The atmosphere is complimentary by the good music which thankfully was the perfect volume. Their decor is lovely and the blue lighting is quite nice for dinner time. Their menu isn’t that large, especially if you’re vegetarian but they do have pescatarian options and apparently beautifully flavoured steak. The food was quite tasty, I ordered the Salmon (R225) I did lack in communicating my order a bit but that’s no one’s fault but my own, However, I’d definitely go again. The “Tennessee Chocolate Milkshake” was quite strong if you’re not a regular drinker but my mother loved it (which is rare lol) I should mention though, the evening we went we waited over an hour for our food, however, our waiter (Thomas, I think that’s what he said his name is) did a great job communicating the delays in the kitchen. He was a great waiter and we do not fault his service based on the delays. Also, side note: the bathrooms are aesthetically pleasing, get some great Instagram photos. Beautiful restaurant. Indoor and outdoor seating. Very formal feel but very relaxed. Service was top notch and we all loved our food. Highly recommend.

This was a great experience! Simon and his team gave us the best Reunion function we could Dreams of. He didn't walk the extra mile- he went all the way! Food great, atmosphere wonderful. We were thrilled to have made this restaurant our venue of choice but it far exceeded our expectations. Thanks again.

What a gem in the heart of Bloemfontein. An amazing atmosphere. This restaurant is split into two sides: the quiet restaurant and the much louder club-like atmosphere so you can come here with your family or friends. On the quiet side where I was, we were served with a smile. The menu is quite detailed from seafood to meat and an array of starters and desserts. The meals we picked were delicious except the creme brulee tasted more like a panna cotta. Regardless, it was delicious and I enjoyed it.

The restaurant is beautifully decorated. Its a wow. The food oh the food. Yum. Sweet potatoes fries are a must have and dont skip dessert either. Out waiter Tumi was the best in town.

What an absolute experience to enjoy the evening at The Blue Gem! Simon and his team goes above and beyond to make the visit as memorable as possible. From the friendliest service at reception, to the most delicious food and drinks that are served with a special touch - you cannot go wrong with them! Had a really nice time at the blue gem, they have really great food and the service was splendid. It is also not that expensive considering what you get. It is definitely nice and value for money and I would recommend them if you are in the area or just visiting Bloemfontein.

We recently had the pleasure of dining at the Blue Gem Restaurant at the Preller Square. This charming restaurant offers a relaxing ambiance. The food is excellent, the service is friendly and attentive, and the atmosphere is warm and inviting. A good variety of food in the buffet was provided. The restaurant is also family-friendly, and there is a large outdoor patio that is perfect for dining outside. Overall, we had a wonderful dining experience at the Blue Gem Restaurant. Stunning restaurant with BEAUTIFUL bathrooms, restaurant is well decorated, friendly staff, music, quality food and service. During our wedding reception, no one missed out on the speeches when it was needed to run to the bathroom, the audio is connected throughout the whole restaurant. I would highly recommend this restaurant to anyone looking for an excellent venue to have their wedding celebration, birthday party, renewing their vows. Simon, the owner of Blue Gem has an eye for attention to detail, accommodated a room for a photo booth section for our guests and simply made the whole process very easy to organise. From glasses, to cutlery to plates and placemats were discussed, no need to arrange an Events Planner, Simon is your guy!! Thank you to Simon and his team for making our special day extra special, attention to detail is on point.

It's beautiful and very calming. The bathroom is my favorite part, friendly staff and good food. The sause my friend ordered had hair inside though 😔.

Very nice place to have a romantic dinner, you can sit for hours on the comfortable chairs and enjoy the Decor and ambient music. Food was delicious and Fancy. Bathrooms clean and well laid out.

The place is beautiful and gives a wonderful ambiance. I ordered salmon which usually makes or breaks the place for me. I was happy with my meal. The veggies were done just right and my fish was succulent. I was just disappointed they didn't have almond milk. The service was also outstanding, I'll definitely go again.

Booked a table for 20, booking was cordial and friendly, very helpful. Greetings at the door by the lady were extraordinarily friendly and courteous, everyone immediately relaxed and fell into a party mode; We were assigned a waiter who stayed with us the whole evening, Thomas, you are an awesome host/waiter, thank you! The buffet was awesome, lots of options for our guests, drinks ordered and served timeously. Ambience, lighting, music was on point, NO ONE in our party had any complaints, we all could focus on the birthday girl! We recommend Blue Gem Restaurant! PS, be considerate with a photographer should you bring one, we had one, they allowed him for a fee, but we could see his flash was bothering other patrons, so, be considerate of others should you bring someone....

The food is delicious, the atmosphere and the ambience? Tremendously amazing! That place is gorgeous especially if you want to enjoy or experience a fancy outing with family or friends or even by yourself. The service seems on point but the day I went it wasn't as good as I had hoped I was bit tiny incy bincy disappointed because the service was slow. But all in all great restaurant!

As soon as we arrived we were asked at the door not to make a noise because there was a private function in progress. I wasn't too happy with tht comment but only because we were celebrating our sons graduation we stayed and left immediately afterwards. We continued with the celebrations at another venue nxt to them...but thx for being so generous in accommodating us

Wow. Beautiful Place indeed. December is our favorite time to visit Bloemfontein and the Blue Gem is our newly found Gem in Bloemfontein ❤️. First of all the entry into the restaurant does not give up anything. Once you step in its like walking into a different place. The atmosphere is amazing and very relaxing. We fell inlove before we even saw the menu. The host and the waiters were friendly and warm, we felt relaxed. The menu has amazing options for me, my wife our daughter and son. It was an amazing experience. The food came and it did not disappoint and was very delicious 😋. We went for desert which is our favorite of in ending a wonderful night. The desert and the dramatics surrounding it when served was great. We are definitely coming back and we can't stop telling our friends and family traveling to visit our newly found GEM.

The food was delicious and the wine pairing on point. Our waiter was good and attentive but a request to have the playlist adjusted to suit the atmosphere was turned down. Music is important me when you want to create ambiance

My Expectation were not met. Friendly welcoming staff but the teeny tiny creme brulet was disapointing and definately not the best I have ever had. The music does not suit the setting. Most items are fairly priced, I just expected more.

The true hidden Gem of Bloemfontein is The Blue Gem Restaurant. Go and ingu yourself in the most exquisite and beautiful restaurant you will ever see. I definitely recommend and give a 5 Star rating! Staff is beyond amaizng, so helpful and the whe vibe there is just on a whole different level. Dress codes: semi formal to formal.
