The new management, Jeff & Jim, are very knowledgeable and eager to answer any of your questions. Steve & John, the guitar techs are very knowledgeable as well. He even fixed my vintage Orfeus P bass with some new pots, plug & fret level & dress. And Raj is the handy horn guy.

Sold me a bassoon that does not play correctly with a mismatched piece that is 20 years older then the rest of the instrument that was not disclosed and the only joint that did not picture the serial number. Will only allow a return if I pay shipping. Very poor and condescending customer service by Dominic. I would not advise buying high end woodwind instruments from this company! Or if you do buy through their reverb store which customer service is great. Happy to share email correspondence as well.

The staff at this store are incredible. I will never go to the big box music store ever again. Music Go Round in Woodbury is a one-stop shop for anything you need for your instruments. I needed a bass set-up. I was going to do it myself but I stopped into music-go-round because I noticed their sign while I was getting food. I asked about my set-up. They charge HALF of what I was quoted at guitar center. Not only are their prices good, but you can feel the sense of joy and appreciation while these guys talk about the instruments. They’re very knowledgeable, yet still incredibly friendly and approachable. I’m clueless about this stuff & they explained to everything so well. They’ve got a new customer for life. I am grateful!

They typically have a great selection of mics and recording gear. Lots of great guitar effects in stock. They get a lot of cool random drum gear in. Owner and employees are all great to deal with and more than fair with their offers.

this store is very good for 2 things, pedals and seevicing instruments. their instrument selection is rather small and a lot of their gear used so theres gove and take, you can find decent deals on items every now and again but most of the prices are pretty close to competitors so if you see something you want chances are its the same price as online so no need to pay shipping. The only real negatives to this store are its small selection of instruments and amps to choose from with a few keys and dome drum pieces. the stock isnt consistant as this place does sell a lot of used stuff so if you see something cool dont always count on it being there next week. The staff are really solid and will give you a good deal on trade-ins (better than guitar center by a long shot) so its a good place to quickly unload gear. they do have a points reward system so there benefit to returning as well and being a repeat customer. Theres a lot of convenience here but not much selection. I've been coming here for about a decade now and was introduced to the store by a drummer named eric. Pros: convenient, fair priced, good trade-ins, friendly staff, convient location. Cons: small selection, lack of deals, inconsistent items for sale. overall score - 8.5 on a bad day 9 on a good day.

The salesmen here just blew me away with their professionalism, availability to help, and patience. They gave me a lot of time to pick out an awesome used bass guitar and went above and beyond to make sure it left their store in great condition. On top of that, they were just cool and easy to get along with. They did a good job checking in on me without pressuring me or making me feel novice or silly. I had to return a few times to get an issue fixed and I looked forward to working with them each time I went. The selection of effects and guitars there was great as well. Excellent store!

As a musician with many interests who is also on a budget, I appreciate having access to a variety of quality second hand gear. My experiences at the MGR stores I've stopped into around the twin cities have always been positive. I've sold and bought gear from the Woodbury store a couple of times now and the staff is always super friendly and helpful, often going above expectations, in my experience. Thanks to fair trade in pricing and ridiculously good deals on gear for sale, I've been able to pass along some great stuff I don't use as much and upgrade my gear to a standard I couldn't imagine being able to afford otherwise. It feels great to be inspired by 'new' gear and often the 'spirit' of 2nd hand instruments adds another element to that for me. So far MGR has supplied the items I'm looking for in excellent condition, oftentimes 50% or more less than retail. Definitely my favorite spot for anything music related!
