One of my favorite restaurants in the Twin Cities, and one of the best places to spend your money for many, many reasons. I'll explain. First, you can't beat the fries. They are heaven on a plate. You can't go wrong with the sambusas. Really anything you order here is amazing. Second, they keep their prices VERY affordable! I got an absurd amount of food for $14. Third, it's clean, inviting, kind staff, and just an uplifting place to be (I was having a frustrating day and this was an oasis of peace and happiness for me today). Lastly, the owner, Kahin, has got to be a literal angel on Earth. He and his incredible staff donate thousands of meals to the community. Whether it's K-12 students who would otherwise rely on school lunches for a meal, elderly residents who have difficulty leaving their homes, frontline healthcare workers, or other communities in need, Kahin is there with a smile and bags of delicious meals. I'll say it again: there is no small business more deserving of your money. Even Lizzo agrees!

A nice quick and easy to obtain restaurant by the U of M campus! Was a big fan of their beef bowl. It was super savory and had a lot of beef. The chicken fantastic had decent flavors, but did not have much chicken at all maybe 7 pieces total in a large. The beef sambusas had a great crispy exterior, but the insides could have had more flavor. Fortunately the sauce they provided with it was not too bad. Overall food came out quick and it was tasty Pictured: 1. Medium Beef bowl 2. Large Chicken fantastic 3. Beef sambusas 4. Beef sambusas interior

This is a great place for people who interested in trying East African food. I ordered the Chapati Wrap, and it only took 5 minutes for them to cook my food. The food was well seasoned, and the quantity size is great. I wish the fries had more seasoning, but aside from that the food taste pretty good. The atmosphere is very relaxed.

Good food for the money. I ordered the small French fries and 3 pc veggie sambusa. The fries are ok, but not sure why many recommend them. They taste good, but nothing special. They come with a mayo-like dipping sauce . The vegetarian sambusa are stuffed with lentils and deep fried; crispy on the outside, and soft on the inside. The dipping green sauce that comes with them is quite spicy.

I’ve been in a few times and each time is a delight! The lamb gyro is amazing and it comes with delicious French fries. I especially enjoy their chicken quesadillas. They also have the best coconut shrimp in Minnesota! This particular location is situated near the Gopher Stadium. Their perfect fusion of African, Mediterranean and American styled food is worth checking out.

Was in town to visit the medical center around the corner and wanted something not fast food. well, this food was served pretty fast, but this ain't no McDonalds. Spouse and I had the steak sandwich, and it was very tasty. Nice heat to it, I call things like this a rich heat. It is spicy, but it has flavor and doesn't melt your face off. The veggies (onion and peppers) were very good, and the lettuce and tomato was a nice touch. The whole mess was pretty reasonably priced as well. I will surely be going back when I'm in the neighborhood.

The food here is great. Love the fries, and the veggie fantastic. Service is quick and friendly. The menu isn't extensive, but there are vegetarian and gluten free options. There's usually a line during the weekday lunch rush, but it tends to move quickly. Not a great space to sit down and chat, but there are decent options to take your food to go and eat outside if the weather is nice.

The two types of gyros were amazing. Both meats, lamb and chicken, tasted great and seemed high quality (not that strange over-processed chicken). Would eat the gyros again in a heartbeat but will be trying the wraps and beef sandwich on my next visits after running into a old colleague of mine at the restaurant who was eating those and highly recommended them! I can’t believe it took me so long to visit this restaurant! Besides the great food, the service was great and quick, and the meal reasonably priced!

My first experience at Afro deli. I was placing an order for my wife. I was happy with everything until I went to the front desk to grab my order. I order lamb gyro with fries and Diet Coke. I went to the vending machine to get the drink. The machine didn’t have any Diet Coke. Display said “unavailable”. Same thing for zero Coke. I tried zero Fanta. The machine filled half the cup and started just pouring clear soda. This is not the problem. I went to the front desk and talked to a Somali guy at the front desk. I let him know that the machine is out of multiple drinks. He said “ I give you the drink for free” and then asked me “ did you pay for the drink?” In fact I paid for everything plus tips. He didn’t even apologize or offer to change the containers in the machine. The guy had ZERO sense of politeness or customer. This was my first and my last time there.

Afro Deli and Grill is a vibrant and welcoming hub that merges the cultures of Africa and America in a tasteful and exciting way. The restaurant offers an array of dishes that are both flavorful and wholesome. The Somali Steak Sandwich and Lamb Gyro were standout!

Food is absolutely delicious and fairly priced. The lamb Chapati wrap (side of the best fries ever included) is my go to, but the samosas and plantains are also great. I’ve gotten takeout a number of times and the food is always fresh and prepared quickly! Will return again and again.

Pretty good! Large portions, meat was a little dry, but otherwise well done. Fries were good!

Yummy lamb gyros. Very large portion, great fries, tasty sauce, if meat isn't that dry, it will be perfect.

The food was stellar. Had the chicken curry and samosas. Tried all three types. The one with potatoes was ok but the steak and chicken was really good. The chicken curry was super yummy. Had me even eating my veggies willingly. The service was fast and friendly. He checked all orders immediately fixed any mistakes. Also communicated any changes to customers.

The food does not match up to the hype. My steak sandwich was small portioned and chewy. The fries were awesome, but that is the extent of my experience.

I’ve been to Afro Deli multiple times through the years and each time it’s fresh and tastes amazing! The fries are crispy and fried right after you order. They’re also served with a very delicious sauce! I always get the gopher lamb gyro and it’s a hit every time.

Went on a Monday around 1:30. Dine in, not very busy. Food was good. Had Greek salad and gyro. With fries. Sauces were delicious. Food was fresh.

I am really annoyed filthy on the floor and kitchen. Also playing music in the kitchen not seems to be customer friendly. Food well prepared and loved.

Food was good. Crispy sweet potato fries (so annoying when they're not crispy like many places do). Clean and great service. However, I did come in expecting more African dishes, but most of the menu was stuff you'd find at a Greek deli, so was a little disappointed.

The best mix of Mediterranean food, fresh ingredients, and excellent portions, especially their staff is very friendly, Israel was top notc, which is important, I emphasize the good taste of all their dishes.

I wish I could give 0 stars for service. Don't get me wrong, most of the people there are friendly, except one in particular. I work very close to the restaurant so I frequent it often for lunch. The younger girl with dark hair, glasses and piercings all over her face has the worst attitude in the service industry. It clear to see she hates her job but somehow has managed to be there for months. I've even complained about her attitude to the owner and she still somehow hasn't fixed her attitude. I will reconsider giving you my business and sending all the clients over to your establishment for lunch.

This is a fast-food atmosphere and the food arrives very quickly (~5 minutes). There was some seating available during the lunch hour The take-out was inexpensive and good.

My office orders catering from Afro Deli for events quite often, and we've had a 10/10 experience every time. All the staff members I've interacted with are extremely warm and friendly, the food has always arrived fresh and on-time, and every meal I've tried is delicious.

I like this place! I just wish there was one in the Eat Street neighborhood because I'm not in Stadium Village very often. I had the classic gyro with a very good, fresh side salad and a can of pineapple nectar. A good meal and the price was reasonable.

Afro Deli catered our 80th birthday party of 19 guests. We ordered sambusas, coconut shrimp, chicken wings, salad, plantains, pita, hummus, tea...everything was delicious. The delivery was on time. So reasonably priced. Love this place. Danny was so accommodating in late changes and additions!

I wish I could actually give a rating on the food unfortunately I never had a chance to try it. Thier website says they open at 10:30 on Sundays. On Sept 18, I arrived at the location on Washington at 10:45 to see a sign saying they open at 11. I waited the 15 minutes in the car. I go back to the door at 11 and still not open. I see someone in the restaurant. Once I finally got his attention he just waved me off. I waited a few more minutes thinking he's just trying to set up. I knock on the window and, again, he waved me off. I don't know what the problem was but I'll never come here again. I wasted time, energy, and money on parking trying to buy your food. Never again.
