This spot doesn't align with my taste in food. Romanian cuisine, rich in fat, isn't right up my alley. Tried the lamb pastrami—tender but lacked flavor. However, the cozy atmosphere and pleasant conversations with the waiters were noteworthy. Expect high prices.

We had a lovely dinner! Good prices, delicious food and big meals, also great view of the square! Even though that it was pretty packed, the service was excellent! Thank you, Andrea, you are the best waiter we had in Romania by far! Excellent, keep up the good work! 👏🏻😊🍻

Delicious Romanian food. Everything was traditional and rustic. With 25€ you can buy for 2 people. The amount of food was almost American-size. The place is cozy and medieval almost (in a modern way let's say). As a whole this place is 5/5

Every time I come over to Brasov, I visit this restaurant. The service, hospitality and food never disappoint! The staff made sure we could be seated as soon as possible and we were very well taken care of. This time, we ordered beef pie and goulash, and ended with a portion of papanași. We'll surely be back to try other items from their menu!

The food here was pretty good but what we really liked was the beer selection. They have lots of great craft beers. They have a few dishes for vegetarians. The mushroom pie tasted a bit overcooked/burned though and the potato chips had no flavor, were just greasy. But the spreads for the potato bread were delicious. My husband loved the mititei. The waitresses were also very nice.

The stomach is full, but the heart is fuller 🖤 as previously mentioned, if you want real authentic traditional food without ghee risk of tourist traps, Romania and Moldova are the underdogs of food travelling. Here we are in the main plaza of Brasov, a very touristy place, enjoying the best Romanian meal we have ever had. @laceaunbrasov started as a soup joint that slowly developed a more extensive traditional menu and moved their main kitchen in the native village of the owner where he hired simple people from all the villages around to cook traditional recipes over charcoal or fired up cast iron cauldrons. Not only did we enjoy some of the best meals during our travels, but the service was the purest Romanian mountain hospitality you could get. The warmest staff, including all the servers and the managers. Nico served us on the first night, and Catalin was our server the second day for lunch. The warmest, most adorable fellow Romanians who made us feel home 🤍

The night before we went to the other La Ceaun, in Weiss. We liked it so much that we wanted to repeat, but we fancied some of the dishes in the other menu so we came here, to the one in Piata Sfatului. We ordered ciorbe, which was excellent like the day before and because we were rushing and they were pretty filling, we jumped to the desert. The papanasi was otherworldly. One of the best desserts I've tried in a restaurant. I can only assume that the rest of the food that I didn't get to enjoy this time would be equally delicious. The only negative points were the ambience, pretty crowded and noisy during the lunch time, but unavoidable, and the service, which wasn't as nice as the one from its sibling restaurant in Weiss. I wasn't allowed to pay with my phone after a first attempt (when I was promted to unlock my phone and try again). So I had to pay with a physical card that will charge me for the currency exchange, despite that the night before I could pay with phone in the other restaurant. The waiter must've been in a rush, although the whole transaction took around 30 seconds. He didn't look very happy either, avoiding eye contact when we tried to get his attention to order and kicking chairs while setting up the empty tables. Maybe just a bad day that won't spoil my experience. Also, be warned about the possible waiting lines and the impossibility of making a reservation, specially if you come with a big group.

We went at a very busy time without a booking but the staff allowed us and another couple to sit at a big table together if we didn't mind. We really appreciated how they accommodated for us so we didn't have to wait long to sit. I ordered the Mici with Polenta, Chips and Cabbage. All three components of the dish were so delicious and flavourful. The side dish of Zacusca was tangy and refreshing too. Overall the service, quality and atmosphere made the price reasonable 👌

Calm atmosphere and nice, friendly staff! Prices actually extremely reasonable for the location and portion sizes good and filling. Food was delicious and well received. Definitely recommend for Romanian food 🥘 also toilet was the best I’ve seen in my travels here so far 😂 clean and with a hand dryer - felt like a little luxury!

Nice food, beautiful restaurant and fast service. Catalin the waiter was really kind and helpful! Good experience in general, deserves definitely a try. A small tip to change cutlery, especially for the meat.

Delicious traditional food. Highly recommend the bean soup with smoked ham in bread and the Papanasi with sour cream and homemade jam. Both to die for.

We were there to try our first traditional Romanian food! Great place for meat eaters same as for vegetarians! Service was great! Food looked amazing and smelled even better! Fresh orange lemonade! The blonde waitress recommended some traditional vegetarian food! Amazing! Amazing! Amazing! I really recommend this place! Cheers from Prague! Petr and Simona! :-)

One of the best experiences ever :) I recommend this restaurant because: - the table was cleaned, - I waited 1 minute to take our order, - I got the drinks after 5 minutes, - I received the food after 10 minutes, - the meal was tasty. I don’t give 5 stars because the prices are too high!

We were in Brasov for 2 days and during that time we managed to try quite a few things on the menu. Whatever you choose, you won't go wrong, and you can also ask your waiter for a recommendation. The beef tripe soup is the best I've ever had. The service is fast and the staff is friendly. Special thanks to the manager and waiter Gabriel

This restaurant always serves good food FAST!:)) faster than McDonalds or KFC. We had 2 soups ( beans and potatoes with ham) - which were very good and they came in 2-3 minutes. We also has some mulled wine and papanashi, they were good, but not great. The check was around 80 lei.

Food was great! We ordered the duck leg with cabbage and the papanasi and every bite was delicious. The service was very good, our waiter was super nice. We waited a bit in line at the entrance but it was quick, and we even received mulled wine while we were waiting. Very much recommended!

Sort of modern & traditional at the same time. Excellent mititei, and very good sized portion. I enjoyed the plum dumplings for dessert as well. If I had had longer in Brașov, I'm sure I would have chosen to eat here again.

A great restaurant with super tasty food and an awesome customer service. Very good prices. Highly recommended.

The place is nice, the food is authentic, I think I expected it to be less fatty but it is really greasy, try not to over order. I think the servers are overwhelmed by the amount of people, so do not expect the most friendly customer care there. You have to wait in line outside and wait until an employee comes and takes your name and puts it on the list then they call you. It did not take us long to be seated. We tried the stuffed cabbage and they were really good, the soup was great and the Buiz with sausage I think was a bit heavy, maybe without the sausage it would be lighter ..next time. Worth a try

I appreciated a waiter who made an effort to find me a seat. I liked the food presentation, however the mutton stew and the cheese pie were very bland. Traditional food would have complex mix of spices but these were not it. Plus, there were no mirror in the washroom

The restaurant is located right in the center of Brasov, near the Museum of History and the Black Church. The staff was very kind and the food very good. Their recommendations in choosing the dishes were very professional. I will gladly return to this location. The smoked bean soup served in toast was something new. I had heard of this kind of serving of soup (in bread), but here I eat for the first time.

The BEST food of my whole trip in Romania. You simply cannot come to Brasov and not eat here. I recommend the Bean Soup served in bread and the smoked pork knuckle… both were amazing. 🤤🤤

  • 5/5 Robert L. 6 months ago on Google
Excellent food. This place is very popular and not easy to get a table for outdoor dining. They do have more tables inside the restaurant. Highly recommended.

I took a stop in Brasov and visited this restaurant with my girlfriend while touring to the Romanian castles. Needless to say it was the best decision we made. The service was hospitable and fast. The food (pork chops and pork rib) was really tasty with the quantity being bigger than any other restaurants in Bucharest. The coffee was so good too. All in all we recommend this restaurant if you visit Brasov.

Wonderful restaurant in the heart of Brasov's Square. Fast service, gentle and English speaker waitress, high quality food with nice presentation, good portions. I recommend it for a Romanian food experience ;)

Very nice food - especially the bean soup in bread. This is traditional and kind of hard to come by but definitely worth trying if visiting Romania. The staff is very friendly and I also found out they are trying to provide for homeless people whenever possible which is very nice.

The place has a selection of traditional Romanian dishes and drinks. The location is great as it is right in Piata Sfatului and they also have outdoor seating. The staff is friendly and the service is very prompt. The food was better than average, but nothing special about it. I recommed this place especially if you fancy something traditional to eat and drink, but also for a lovely view!

My boyfriend and I had really nice experience in La Ceaun. I ordered bean soup and his was mushroom sour soup that he said it was one of the best he have ever had. The service was brilliant fast and friendly. Daniel was very nice and made our stay ever more fun.

We got a good experience of having a dinner in this restaurant. The waiter was very communicative, polite and energetic, he helped us with choosing menu positions. We ordered goulash soup and bean soup on the bread bowl (soups were tasty, i really recommend to try it), local beer (Mustata Alba was good enough, I like light beer) and duck leg (duck was soft and tasty, but cabbage was nothing special in taste). The restaurant is located in main square of old town, so the view from your table will be very nice)

Came here for the second time, after having a good experience last year. Food is delicious, enough vegetarian options, and service was fast and as good as it could be, considering how busy the place is! I've decided to try the plum dumplings today, and although they were delicious, I would suggest making them a little sweeter on the inside😁

Great place for traditional Romanian food! Staff was friendly also I recommend trying one of their soups; we had fasole in pâine. Also had the Tochitura and pomana de porc which were delicious! Papanaș is a traditional cheese donut (with cow cheese I believe) which is super unique - you won’t try anything else like it in the states

Nice restaurant with very fast and pleasant service. The food is not so special, but pretty tasty. It could be good for a lunch. The place has a beautiful view on the big square of the town hall and fountains.

Very busy place (especially during the lunch) that was recommended to us by several blogs and videos. I have never eaten such a great bean soup. This one was so amazing! Main dishes were delicious as well but nothing can match that soup. Staff was very helpful, speaking English and very kind and patient.

  • 5/5 Cristina V. 1 year ago on Google
The food is very tasty, quite big portions. The location is in the center, a nicely combined deisgn(industrial, traditional, rustic). What I would have loved was to have the possibility to choose from some side dishes separately as well (for example you can order chicken wings with fries/wedges but you can't have fries on their own, same as with polenta, so not many vegetarian options). All in all, I'd recommend it.

  • 4/5 Margarita F. 1 year ago on Google
The restaurant is lovely and offers delectable traditional desserts. I highly recommend trying the papanouçi. Our waiter, Andrea, was very accommodating and had a pleasant demeanor. However, there aren't many vegetarian choices available. I tried the tomato and cheese pie, but found it too plain. On the other hand, my meat-eating brother loved the pork ribs.

  • 5/5 Stoyko M. 10 months ago on Google
The most delicious local food we have had since we started our Romanian trip. We loved the stuffed cabbage rolls, traditional bean soup, meatballs and cheese pie. All of the above were delicious! Definitely recommend for a taste of the local cuisine in a relaxed environment.

Great and delicious food that elevates senses and creates real delight and pleasure! Staff extremely friendly helping out and proposing dishes from the great variety it exists, in a very warm and atmospheric place! Prices totally down to earth and if i could i would provide a 6-star rating!! Well done guys keep up the great work!🙂

Whenever we go to Brasov we eat here. Everything on the menu is delicious, lots of traditional Romanian dishes that you don’t want to miss. The location also looks very pretty with rustic elements.

  • 5/5 Daniela M. 7 months ago on Google
Today's lunch was the best. Excellent quality, super cheap prices and super abundant quantities. We left the restaurant super full, maybe even too full 😁 We took a trio of sauces to spread on bread: zatusca, carp roe sauce (divine!!!!) and cream of beans. Then 1 bean soup inside bread, 1 tripe soup, 1 Lamb chop, 2 "mice" dishes, 2 sarmale dishes, half a liter of house red wine, 2 0.40 craft beers, 1 coffee and 1 quince palinka ( a kind of brandy). total about £100. If you come to Brasov go to "La ceaun" in piata scopatului

A terrific find in Brasov. We visited on May 21st, a party of two. Everything we tried was extremely tasty and well cooked. Portions were quite big, so it is definitely a good bang for your buck. Personal favourites were the mititei and smoked pork knuckle. Definitely recommended!

First time in this restaurant, i love it. It has Romanian traditional indoor design. Traditional food and drinks. Beside that, the food was very tasty, good looking also, and i was surprised how quickly our order was ready. Super staff, good services , i felt welcomed. The place where i ve been its in the old center, not so far from black church (in front of Christmas tree if it's winter).

A great restaurant that makes you feel wanted and welcome. Definitely don't wait, and get to the restaurant early. It's a very popular restaurant, and you may even find yourself standing in line. Definitely hang on. The service will make you feel like they're waiting for you. The food is unbeatable, the palinka is great! Desserts top! Thank you

Great selection of food. The pickles were a great starter! We ordered pork ribs, which were the star of the show. Also polenta with smoked ham and cheese, which was also delicious. It has the air of a comfort food. Cabbage salad with dill could have used some more dill, and a dressing. But overall a great meal with a Romanian wine. All for a very good price!

It's the second time I've been to this place, and it was just the same, in a good way. Friendly staff, good food. It was a pleasant retreat for lunch. Will definitely visit again if I have the chance.

Good quality traditional food in good size portion with reasonable price. The various lemonades are home-made and delicious. Pleasant atmosphere at the terrace outside and good service. Dogs are allowed on the terrace.
