Very interesting gate! I’m so curious how many years ago gate looks…beautiful!

On a recent trip to Sighisoara i stopped in Brasov only to eat at this restaurant again. I don`t know why has so few reviews, because it is simply exceptional and far beyond everything in Brasov. The food menu is very well accompanied with the wine menu, in the proper glass at the proper temperature. If you really want an authentic french cuisine, do not miss this amazing dining epiphany.

Fantastic another great landmark to see. Plenty of cars always passing by so be careful when getting a selfie. Best place to stand is in the middle of the road once the road is clear.

Strange experience. The waiter seemed to be unhappy that we were there. When he forgot something we ordered, he blamed us… The food my (obviously) pregnant wife ordered was made with lots of white wine. The tomato soup was delicious. The sautéed kidneys were very chewy.

Excellent food, great service! We were even allowed with our dog while most places in Brasov do not accept that. The staff was very helpful and nice including the manager. Excellent french wine selection including half bottles at fair prices (Chablis, Pouilly Fume, etc.) This really is a fine dining restaurant, most likely owned by someone passionate and not into huge profits. I would definitely recommend this place for the overall experience!!!

The ambience is wonderfull with a french music in a background. The service is great. The food is amazing. I recommend to anyone is passing through Brașov.

Many years ago, the only way someone could enter into a city was through gateway like this. Schei gate remain an example of how the entrance into the old Braşov city worked.

Coming from NYC, I expected much better. The food was average. However, the manager/owner was horrendous. He screamed at his staff and treated them like animals. It pained me to see it.

Drove past it numerous times whilst looking for parking. Nothing spectacular but still great as it's part of history

thanks to it's unique owner and very professional kitchen crew this restaurant is truly outstanding - not just in brasov, but in hole romania! we had an extremely delicious 4 course dinner guided by some fantastic wines, one of them a 1995 chateau canon for an unbelievable good price! the host is absolutely professional and has a very good sense of humor, too 🙂 and he also speaks german! all together we spent about 1 month in nearly all over this beautiful country with good and not so good restaurants, but Poarta Schei 4 is definitely the place to be for all food and wine enthusiasts!

This is a architectural building free to visit to every tourist. In an 3 arches building, providing access to old town via 2 pedestrian walkways and 1 automobile road. There is also a nearby restaurant with a similar name

Had only a couple of salads, mushroom&cream plus chicken liver something. Both very good. Nice place, good wine, rather expensive.

One of the former gates of the Brașov citadel, a nice historical monument. I've seen it many times also because close to it (on the climbing streets that are to the west of it) there is a big chance to find a parking place, that is usually hard to find in Brașov, be it free or for payment.

Great drinks menu, good food. Take the owner's advice.

The place was decently clean, the heating worked well, we were provided with tea and coffee, fairly close from center square, about 8 minutes of walking.

Nice, small and cosy restaurant with excellent food, fine beverages and good music. By far, a distinguished place with the best dining experiences in Braşov. Food is prepared by professionals, having an outstanding menu where you can experience pretentious, sophisticated and refined dishes. Even before food is served you can sense the accent on quality, as even the tableware is exquisite, I could say unique. Definitely a place to go!

nice view and history!!! it you ever pass through Brasov you must walk around to city centre

History pretty well preserved, an old passage gate between two historic provinces, today is part of the beautiful architectural heritage that Brasov has plenty of.

You will walk through this gate on the way from the old town to the old Romanian neighbourhood. It's pretty old and worth a look.

Small and beautiful gate that takes you to the Old Town. It both nice to pass it both by car or by foot.

Important historical attraction. A must. It is the old entrance in the city, right next to the older one, so if you see one you see them both.

The city of Brazov in Romania is not only a university center but also an important industrial, cultural and business center. Brussov is one of the most important tourist destinations in Romania due to its many historical and artistic monuments. It was built between 1827 and 1828 to inspect the carts and people entering the old city at that time. The gate has three openings, built of stone and brick in the classical style of arches. The center arch, which is shaped for traffic, is large and has two small openings for pedestrians on either side. Latin inscriptions on the wall above the small arches indicate that the gate was built after the visit of the Emperor of Austria, Francis Bransov, in 1817, as the date of construction.

There was a homeless guy who wanted to strip for money for us. Very friendly guy, but I was not interested

Schei Gate looks good, I was not very impressed. The nice thing about is that they managed to make the cars cross through it in the middle of the city, somehow combining the old with the new.
