Amazing atmosphere and super friendly service. It seems a very traditional restaurant. They have a very good food. It was super delicious. The quality of food, the speed of service was top. I liked the desserts a lot. Definitey one of the best I had in Romania as a tourist. Definitey recommended

This is one of the iconic and must-go places in Brașov. The place is great, they have some of the best food options as all meat products are home-made. Appreciate that even after all these years they kept the good habit to serve greaves (jumări) on the house. Back in the day they served heated, now these are cold, but appreciate the gesture. Food I would say is the best quality-price ratio in Brașov and great food options. They ended up serving home matured beef, a huge plus. The food is great, the papanași are very good, and the service is great. Drinks are at quite a high price, maybe the only minus, but would expect this for a restaurant in Brașov. Atmosphere is of a fast food restaurant as there are a lot of people coming and going, sometimes and be a little annoying. But this shows that people appreciate the place. All in all, a place to always come back to, highly recommend!

This place came highly recommended by locals. We followed the wait staff recommendations. Of the Bulz (egg) which was excellent, and the wild boar dish (phenomenal, especially with nuts and cranberries). And added side dish of potatoes also excellent. It’s a big place but not everyone is in one room so it isn’t loud like some other places of similar size. The staff was phenomenal. But they were very busy as expected. Not their fault just be patient. We ordered some traditional plum brandy spirits aperitifs while we waited to be seated and waited for the food. There was also some traditional entertainment of song and dance (with the hat for money afterwards). Overall an excellent experience, highly recommend.

Romanian cuisine restaurant in the center of Brasov. I took pork ribs and soup. The ribs were dry on the sides and the central part was quite good. The soup was good, I rate the food at 8/10. My wife decided to take me here for my birthday, in general, I was left with positive impressions. P.S. Except for the dryness of the ribs on the sides

The restaurant is totally underground but pleasant surprise: it's huge with Antique Roman style basement. The waitresse is very efficient and friendly, and gave us good recommendations. We even received free fried boar bites as an appetizer. The food is authentic and generous, everything is top notch! Don't order entree and main if you have small appetite ;) Special note to their decorations: some wood carvings are wonderful

Solid Romanian menu. Menu was a bit poetic and hard on this English speaking tourist. Had the beef goulash which was served with a bread top. Five stars for presentation though food could have been a dash better. Atmosphere was nice and service was good.

we came here attracted by the many positive reviews, I must admit that expectations were far and away satisfied. we took two traditional dishes with a side of potatoes. the products were first choice and cooked simply. we took an ursus which I recommend to accompany everything. grand finale with papanasi. the various options of completely optional tips were indicated in the bill, you mark with a red pen whether you want to leave tips and in what percentage.

Great restaurant with a lot of seating space so we did not have to wait much for getting a table without reservations. The food is really good and the service is good too. They have a lot of food and drink options which are very traditional. Even the menu in Romanian uses the old Romanian language. They served some fried pork belly with onions as a welcome snack on the house. The pickles were very delicious and had an interesting assortment of vegetables including a pickled pear which was quite tasty. The restaurant had some live music and dancing for the new year celebrations which made it a nice restaurant experience. Would definitely recommend more than other places in the area.

Very good traditional place, the soups are very good in taste, but the main dishes are not so good, very heavy and without salt.. Also the waiter was very late and the main dishes came at the table after a lot of time

This is a lovely restaurant within the basement of the building. The building is cozy & there were not too many people at the time we went which was nice. It was cool even in the heat of summer. We were served by Claudio, we were impressed by his friendly & informative service. The food was great, the sarmale was the best we tried so far. We also got lots of bread & a free starter (fried pork belly) which was tasty and filling. The papanasi came in a very large portion which we asked if we could share & they kindly divided it into two plates for us. We would highly recommend this restaurant for the attentive servers & a taste of traditional Romanian food.

I love the look of the place, the traditional food and how the staff even dressed in traditional clothes! They were not stingy on the bread ans gave lovely free starters really was so delicious we felt like if this is how it starts where will it end! Unfortunately the soup I wanted was not available so we had a different soup it was nice the side of chilli's is what really helped the flavour! The other dish was also just the best we had as we tried it somewhere else and it was not good! I washed my food down with some traditional sherry I belive called afinata it was so strong I'm not surprised they only give you a shot of it! I would recommend! The toilets was not very clean though and had a funny smell and unfortunately met some not so pleasant customers in there at no fault of the restaurant of course!

An extremely pleasant evening. With two main dining areas, we were quickly seated in the more intimate area of the restaurant by one of the restaurant managers, I assume. The waiting staff was quick and assisting. Food and red house wine were 10/10! Thank you.

It’s the only kitchen that’s open after 10pm lol. I tried their sirloin it was very good.the ambiance and the server that helped us was very nice and attentive. We were curious about polenta so we ordered but didn’t like it, cuz it’s very plain. But that is just our taste buds. Chicken soup was rich and delicious. We were not disappointed. Thank you for great service

I dined here in 2016 and enjoyed it, so I stopped by again in 2022, and it's even better than I remember. This restaurant is in a very nice "wine cellar" style basement, comfortable and a nice break from the heat. The service is professional, the portions are very good, prices are fair, and the overall vibe beats the places in the main square, which are a lot more touristy. If you're in Brasov, I certainly recommend this place. Thank you.

The food is great, the service is ok, the music is bad. 😁 At least for my taste. I tried many dishes during my week in Brasov, so I can recommend almost everything in the menu. Be aware that on the house you get fried pork fat with onion and you can easily get stuffed with that only! 😁 Feel free to explore the Romanian cuisine, even the prices are pretty high.

If there's one phrase I would use to describe this place, it would be this: attention to detail. Nothing is left to chance, everything is taken care of so that the guests can enjoy the best experience possible. Just a few examples, which might seem random but are signs of the attention to detail I love to see in establishments: - the complimentary entree & bread - the bathroom, clean and with modern appliances - if you ask for the leftovers to go, they bring it in a sealed container Moreover, all the staff is not only incredibly nice, but also highly trained and professional.

Nice resturant, located in the old town. When you enter the resturant you need to go throgh 20 steps underground. There is a romanian band ( folklore) during the night with dancing and too loud music. The menu is nice but there is no "mititei" in the menu. Slow service, the food is very tasty. Expansive for what you get. No parking in the area.

Traditional Romanian food at it's best! Quick, helpful and really friendly service. This place is so good that we visited it twice in two nights stay in Brasov... Prices are really low for the quality of the experience. Highly recommended!

One of the best traditionals restauranta in Brasov. We ate Jumari Cu Ceapa, Papanași Cu Dulceață and other Romanian dishes. The only problem is that you must wait to order and to eat. We spend 2.5h for a lunch. It was a waist of time.

Unique underground Romanian restaurant that my tour guide shared with me while visiting Brahm Castle. If you want authentic local food don't miss this place.

Authentic, delicious Transylvanian dishes. If you are around you have to visit the place, if you don’t book table there is a waiting list about 15-20 min usually.

This is a little gem, it is a lovely building, although being below ground was quite warm. The pictures do not do it justice or a true reflection of size, it is beautiful. We went on a Saturday lunch for my girlfriends birthday and hadn’t made a reservation. We was told to wait for 20 minutes, we was unable to get a drink while we waited. However this didn’t matter it took no time to seat us. Our waiter was helpful and advised us around the aged Angus steaks (it’s priced per 100g/40leu but the minimum order is 400g) we ordered a 500g ribeye and shared between two which was plenty and was not a problem to the restaurant. I had the garlic sauce… and it could blow your head off, lucky I was going to Draculas castle that night, it kept me safe!

The food was great, but even better were the staff. My waiter helped me when I asked if he could recommend a quick dish because I had to catch a bus, and he recommended the Transylvanian soup, which I thoroughly enjoyed. The dish was brought out so fast, yet it was hot and comforting. The restaurant also gave me an interesting free dish of roasted pork on the house. I felt very well taken care of. The atmosphere of the restaurant, despite being in a basement, is not dingy but can be quite romantic. Fastest service ever, I like it!

Authentic Romanian cuisine. Vegetarian friendly, so a must-go if you want to try the local cuisine. We ordered: 2 x Polenta with Mushrooms 1 x Polenta with Cabage 1 x Baked potatoes with dill & garlic 1 x Breaded hard cheese Enough for 5 adults (and more). They serve delicious fresh bread at the table. The garlic dill sauce is a must. I would have ordered the fries instead of the baked potato, and added a salad, so that there was some kind of crunch in the meal as everything else is “soft”.

I feel strange to give only a 3 star rating but it’s not worth more. I’ve been to Sergiana 2 years ago and absolutely loved the food and atmosphere. This time though, the food was disappointing. The Sergiana starter (gustare Sergiana) which should have had lots of meat types and cheese, was a bit of bacon, ham, some smoked meat and a lot of salami, though there was no salami on the menu. No sauciss, no slanina, no jumari, as if they had finished their ingredients and were replacing with ordinary salami. The sauciss (carnati) with potatoes was so salty and hard that you could not eat it. The tochitura and mancarea ardeleneasca - decent at best. Also dissapointing to receive our main dishes in plastic plates. Too bad for this beautiful location; the food is not smth to look for anymore.

Fabulous restaurant. Excellent table service by motivated waiter. Made to feel very welcome despite not speaking any Romanian. Food perfectly cooked and wonderfully presented at an affordable price. Highchair supplied so can accept the whole family.

This is really the best place to have a dinner, lunch in the beautiful Brasov. Just in the middle of the old town, you are entering the traditional Romanian cuisine with many garlic, bread and beer Soups, main dishes and dessert everything was perfect Dance group dressed in traditional Romanian clothes performed the whole evening

Not a fan of this restaurant. The food is fine, but nothing to make me come back after I went there twice, to give it a second chance. Its main issue: does not own its own parking spots which could become frustrating searching for it, even for a paid one which are in proximity. But the service is good though.

Lovely place to dine at! Love the food, the ambience and the traditional Romanian music. Staff is very kind and friendly. The staff told me that the restaurant is a historical monument and it used to be a prison before. Loved the experience!

An incredible and necessary experience! If you go to Braşov, you definitely have to try Sergiana restaurant. Both attention and food are amazing. The best plate is the wild board one. Also the goulash’s great. Wide selection of beverages as well. We’ll definitely come back!!

3 stars for some frozen plum dumplings. The papanasi dough I'm pretty sure it was a doughnut dough. The main dishes not great, not terrible.

A fantastic restaurant in Brasov, if you want to try traditional Romanian food (with some twists). We had dinner on two consecutive nights (so you can guess how much wr liked the food and ambience). The restaurant is situated in a cellar of a big Saxon building near the city centre. The ambience was very different. The staff (all dressed in traditional Romanian dresses) were friendly. The service was prompt. We started off with the traditional palinka shot while we wete srved complementary pork fries and bread. We then had proceeded to have stuffed schnitzel, stuffed pork tenderloin and bulz. The food was delicious, and the portions were generous. The second night, we tried the steak. Though we wanted it rare to medium, some parts were a bit too done. For the side we had the peasant potatoes, which was very nice, and a welcome break from American fries. Definitely recommend this restaurant if you are staying at Brasov.

The best food I had in Romania! I must say I'm not really that impressed with Romanian cuisine in general, but this restaurant is definitely the exception. Amazing service as well! The pork kracklings are a delight to snack on, the veggies are fresh and all the different types of meat are great quality and prepared well. Definitely visit when you are in Braşov.

  • 3/5 Maya K. 1 year ago on Google
The food was attractively presented & my dish was tasty, but as others have said, you're left waiting at the door for 20 minutes & in my case many people who came after me were seated before me. Despite the potentially cosy cellar location & Romanian outfits of the waiters, the place felt soulless & there was no heart in the service. There are better places to experience good food in Brasov.
