Though I found myself in this location in late afternoon, it is worth special attention and a special visit. One of the special highlites of Brasov. The territory is great. I Haven't managed to visit the museum because of the late time. The cathedral is GREAT! A breathtaking ensemble. I just walked around it, watching and admiring... For now I can 't describe a lot, having not seen much. But sure - this highligt is worth a separate time, spent.

Such an interesting museum! ✅ Very kind and funny guide - many detailed explanations, presented to the children's liking. Tickets cannot be bought in advance. No appointments are made for groups. Maybe change this rule, it would be easier for groups. Visited November 2023

Worth the time. The priest working there is a very intelligent hardworking man full of knowledge. He is able to say so many about the exposition. It just gives good past vibes. 100% should visit and donate.

It was a truly wonderful experience, thanks to our classmate and guide, who is a walking history book. Once inside the school you find yourself back in time, surrounded by countless books and manuscripts, most of them being original versions (one dates all the way back from 1491, I find it amazing that they manage to preserve something written one year prior to the discovery of America). We will be sure to come back, hopefully, with the right questions.

Absolutely a must see if in Brasov, the tour the guide gave us emmersed us in another world (so sorry we did not get your name, you are an absolute credit to the museum) that we were honoured to be part of, part hystory part theatre play, you learn and love to rediscover great men that made hystory and lots of artefacts available only here. Great gifts to take home, hugely recommended!

The visit was incredibly interesting and very well done. Here you can learn a lot of Romanian and European history through learning about the old and rare books at the museum. The professor who conducted our tour shares not only historical information but connected everything in the museum to a broader philosophy about what a school truly is and how life should be lived, which made the visit particularly moving. I speak Romanian, but even if you don’t speak Romanian, I would recommend asking for something in English or going with someone who can translate for you, because this is a particularly interesting museum

Very interesting experience! We had a very nice and knowledgeable guide. Learnt a lot about the history of Romanian school and first books The guide was friendly and held the whole tour in English. However, we felt that the whole tour went on too quickly and the guide was very rushed, moving from subject to subject almost immediately and without leaving any time for questions

(Translated by Google) An absolutely beautiful place hidden in the Schei area that is worth visiting. We were greeted with authenticity and warmth by our guide who is one of the best met to date. In the Anton Pann class you will have the opportunity to practice writing with a pen, you will know the old Romanian alphabet and you will find out who made history in this place.

(Translated by Google) I returned after 2 years and met my colleague Ioan, as he was introduced to us. He showed us the school in a more interactive and profound way than we knew. I was able to go into detail about the history written in that place and experiment with the first printing methods. I found out why the first books were printed in black and red, and I had the opportunity to write with a pen and a pen. ❤️❤️🖤

Wonderful experience. The guide is fantastic. He tells you the story of the school adding lights of facts about the person's who contributed not only to establish first institutional teaching but also the basic principles of teaching: asks questions to start the debate and learn. We did enjoy it very much, fully recommend, a great experience.

One of the best museum experiences we've had, in the whole of Europe. The two tour guides (father Sebastian and I'm-sorry-but-I've-forgotten-the-other-gentleman's-name 😢) manage to sprinkle bits and pieces of crude historic facts in otherwise relaxed conversations, very unlike the banal museum guided tour. We visited the First (and foremost 👌_pour les connaiseurs_) Romanian School alongside a class of school kids and it was our pleasant surprise to see how well father Sebastian managed to adapt his speech in order to keep them focused and attentive, all the while learning new and interesting things throughout their visit! Would definitely come back again!

Ioan is an excellent guide, he speaks to the audience and captivates you from the first second. I stayed for an hour and I don't know how time flew, I remembered sequences from the History of Romanians learned at school, I read, I wrote with a pen, I "saw" how hard the books were printed. Wonderful! I will return periodically. (Original) Am revenit la Prima Școala Românească in 10.09. Minunat! The effort put in the presentation is astonishing! The gradual atmosphere building, interactive set and accessible pieces of history in the beginning exposition sets you up nicely for a metaphorical and literal "elevation" towards the upper next floor and the neety greety of actual Romanian culture history which is bound to light some sparks in the curious' eyes. Now don't think the interactiveness of the first floor isn't carried to the next, since questions are more than welcome, so especially as a youngster I'm sure it'd mean the world to the guides if you'd come out with a series of bullet points for sparking the conversation. And if you know less about history than quantum computing, damn those medium to rare roasts the guides be spittin' are all the more worth it!

What an amazing museum and tour! It was more than worth the visit. We went on our first day to Brasov, and it was closed; so so happy we returned. The guide was incredibly kind and full of fascinating information that he presented in a fun way. He made the visit interactive, as we were “pupils” of the school for the day. We just so happened to stumble on a tour that Ion was giving. He is extremely knowledgeable about Romanian history and events leading up to the establishment of the first Romanian school. Being an American born Romanian, it made me realize how little I knew of my ancestral country, but also motivated me to learn more and be proud of being Romanian. Ion is very engaging and presents very well. I will be coming back here with more of my family in the future! Highly recommend to anyone and everyone to come visit.

A glimpse at Romanian History: An Amazing Trip to the First Romanian School Heritage International School students and I visited the First Romanian School Museum on May 28, 2023. In the charming Romanian city of Brasov, this museum takes you on a fascinating trip into the past. It shows the rich history and cultural importance of the Romanian school system. Our tour guide, Mr.Cornea, was extremely helpful and knowledgeable as we explored the museum's exhibits. The exhibits were well-designed, transporting us back to the 16th century while also shedding light on the origins and evolution of the Romanian educational heritage. Walking through the building's sacred hallways was awe-inspiring. The classes were decorated with real wooden desks, inkwells, and old books, taking us back to a time when only a few people could afford to go to school. The manuscripts and volumes were a highlight of our tour. These exquisite artifacts demonstrate Romanian academics' devotion to preserving information for future generations. The intricate calligraphy and vivid illustrations captured our attention, providing a glimpse of the intellectual and artistic achievements of the period. We liked using quill pens to practice calligraphy. It was humbling to realize how much expertise and effort went into such exquisite creations. The First Romanian School Museum is more than just a collection of objects; it is a tribute to the resiliency and intellectual history of the Romanian people. The museum's impressive collection, helpful personnel, and absorbing setting make it an unforgettable experience. Our visit was truly unforgettable, and I enthusiastically recommend this museum to anyone interested in the remarkable history of the Romanian educational system.

Not sure how to present the school and experience... For me it was welcoming and educational. My brain struggled to remember the bits and pieces of the story that I knew. The short tour takes you through an important part of Romanian history. The tour is condensed, a lot of information in a short time, but the guide was engaging and the stories good.

A uniquely both informative and entertaining museum visit with the very smart & funny guide, Ivan. Highly recommend it. Bonus: at the end of the school day you get to sing the Romanian national anthem with the other students. Just go with the flow and enjoy the experience 🙂

We had such a great experience visiting this amazing historical landmark. If only we could all be conscious of the hidden treasures we discovered here. Our tour guide, Teacher Ioan, revealed such interesting informations, presented in a professional and original manner. Our visit here was real ‘food’ for both mind and soul.

The priest who was there and who told us about the history of the school was really nice and offered a lot, a lot, a lot of great info. It is not far from the centre, at a walking distante from the old town and only 2 euros to visit it.

It was not clear at all why this was the First Romanian School (maybe from Transylvania?) and the guide who was a priest stayed with us only 2-3 minutes, too less to have the chance to ask something. Saw some old books that were written in Cyrillic alphabet, are really these the books used in this school? Hard to believe..

(Translated by Google) They have no real data. I am selling a map with the rulers of Moldova and Wallachia and on the map of Moldova appears the King of Romania Carol 1. At that time there was no Moldova. Not to mention that they drew Stephen the Great with black hair and eyes, even though he is blond with blue eyes. The shade had to be lighter than the other rulers. What can I say about the fact that I do not differentiate between the Lord with absolute powers and rulers who lead in a more constitutional form of monarchy.

Although the Museum itself is small, the story is at least roomy, detailed and captivating. Dialogue is encouraged, which makes the experience personal. Had a lovely time inside the school the profesor (guide), knows a lot about the place and the Romanian history, we learned how print books where made in the old days, you get to touch different stuff, which not so many museums let u do, at the end of class we all had a chance to right a little note on a big catalogue and make history when someone in the future finds it.... I really think people should come, visit, learn and live the days in the 15 century.

(Translated by Google) It is the second time, to my shame, when you visit this place of worship, Orthodox center, founded by Neagoe Basarab, important for locals in the area during the years 1292. The museum is a point of interest "must visit" for tourists. I was asked at the entrance to the museum: "Did you come to visit or learn ?!" Correct. Many visitors, few students. Mr. Ioan, our guide, introduced us to the bench where the students were studying and also to history. The catalog was called and we wrote our names. Slowly ... slowly we were walking through history and we realized (me and my wife) that in fact what we thought we knew about the First Romanian School was only 1% of everything. I was amazed to find out where the name "parchment writing" comes from. I received documentary materials and lessons in history, culture, art ... I scored 5 stars at the same time, not only for this museum but also for the special importance of the church. I also attended rehearsals on the occasion of the Nativity. Unfortunately, I did not manage to "fix" for history several photos, but I promise Mr. Priest Professor Dr. Vasile OLTEANU (I noticed your answer and I send you on this occasion "Happy Birthday!" - St. Basil and "Happy Birthday, with health and peace of mind in the new year 2021! ") I asked you when you left the church if the museum was open.

Go visit Prima Scoala Romaneasca to see first hand Romanian books from medieval times, a demonstration of the printing press, a fifteenth century classroom, and many fascinating artifacts from the era. Take this opportunity to see a historical monument that is very much alive - and be inspired. I don't know what is most impressive: the curator's extensive and detailed knowledge, his passion for the printed word and a key era in Romanian history, or his engaging presentation, peppered with a keen sense of humor and imbued with an experienced actor's skill in keeping his audience entranced. They are well worth a visit.

The First Romanian School Museum, located in the historic town of Brașov, is a captivating destination that provides a glimpse into the rich educational and cultural history of Romania. As a visitor, I was truly impressed by the well-preserved artifacts, the informative exhibits, and the significance of this institution. What truly sets this museum apart is its dedication to preserving the Romanian language and culture during a time when outside influences threatened to overshadow them. Also, our guide, Ioan, was one of a kind, with a fresh sense of humor and lots of knowledge, I truly recommend it.
