English-only speakers should skip this one. 80% of the exhibits are not in English. You could use Google Image Translate but there is an extra fee for taking photographs, which is more than twice the cost of the entrance ticket. During my visit the entire second floor had no English.

The exterior of the building is beautiful, I would recommend not taking the time to venture inside. The permanent collection is just some random objects. The guild chests are cool, but the WWII stuff is just… stuff. I can’t really tell what was going on upstairs. It appeared to be random assortments of things thrown together: Roman arrow heads next to typewriters, but I don’t speak Romanian, so maybe there was a connection?

The collection inside the museum is very interesting. At the ground floor, I appreciated especially the exhibition about second world war and Vasile Scarneci, whose journals I had read before. Then there several rooms on guilds and activities in Brașov. Second floor has temporary exhibits, we caught one around sports and Romanian champions and another on the rebellion in 1987. The museum building needs restoration, it is frozen in time. Cheap ticket.

Cute piece of architecture in the middle of a charming square. One of the symbols of Brasov, probably the most beautiful city in Romania

Got here around 4:25 pm and was not allowed in even thought on the door it clearly states last entry is 4:30. Lady at the reception shrugged off saying that "alarms were switched on already" (?) which I don't really buy I think she just couldn't be bothered - a bit annoying given that they would only re-open 3 days later.

Totally recommend a visit. Loads of history from around the area. Absolutely cheap to visit and all of it is in English or German besides Romanian.
