Review for beginning of June 2023: Revisited the museum after more than 10 years. I was happy seeing again the art displayed here, remembering past walks with my mentor coming here for Grigorescu and Tonitza's artworks. Valuable gems. Calm atmosphere, squeaky hard floors bring back memories of other museums visited. Tall rooms, perfectly lit, allow you to explore the gallery at your own pace. Texts both in Romanian and English. Ștefan Luchian, Theodor Pallady, Camil Ressu amongearr displayed. I enjoyed seeing paintings are well cared for, all rooms had one dehumidifier installed. During hot summer building should be quite cold inside.

As a connoisseur of art, I recommend this museum to any art lover . Don't miss the collection signed Nicolae Grigorescu. Also, enjoy the specific scent of Brasov art.

Very interesting art museum at the heart of Brașov. Most of the Romanian greats are there. Very good audio guide provided that offers info about each artist's life and art. It would be very helpful if the year of creation was written next to each exhibit in order for the visitor to be able to place it in the timeline of the artist's evolution as described in the audio guide.

Located next to the medieval city, is an interesting option to know the Romanian painting of the nineteenth and twentieth centuries. Among other artists, are paintings by Grigorescu and Aman. The museum is not large and it can be visited in an hour. Very good care of employees.

A small art museum with many Romanian painters. There is a permanent exhibition and some seasonal exhibitions, very interesting. Entry fee for students is only 2 lei, so it's totally worth it. I spent about an hour there, but most people won't inspect paintings for that long.

The only art museum in town. It features mostly paintings exhibitions of Romanian painters, but occasionally it features also international artists.

I've been here during an ex-libris exhibition honoring Constantin Brancusi, the greatest Romanian sculptor. Such an unusual way to display the art!

  • 4/5 Adam Z. 5 years ago on Google
Pretty funky and unusual little art museum spread over two floors featuring exclusively Romanian painters and sculptors. The museum is slightly grotty compared to what you may expect to see in the West, but it is very inexpensive (10 lei/person) and the art is of quite a high quality.

(Translated by Google) I wanted to see the temporary exhibition Hans Mattis Teutsch. This artist is from Brasov and ours and all Brasovians should know him. He is representative of the artistic avant-garde in the area of central Europe. Unfortunately he lived in the era of communism, his works were not to the liking of the communists. If you go to the exhibition, learn history. (Original) Eu am vrut sa vad expozitia temporara Hans Mattis Teutsch.

(Translated by Google) A place you shouldn't miss in Brasov. The gallery is medium in size, but rich in important Romanian works. The friendly staff, however, that any institution of the state needs improvement. You can only pay cash. (Original) O locatie pe care nu trebuie sa o ratați din Brasov. Galeria este de mărime medie, însă bogata in opere importante românești. Personalul amabil, însă că orice instituție a statului, are nevoie de îmbunătățiri. Puteți plăti doar cash.

Less than an Euro entry to see all the big Romanian impressionist and then some more modern pieces!

  • 5/5 Magister B. 4 years ago on Google
(Translated by Google) Personally friendly enough, but if there is less time until closing, it is less likely to visit at least temporary exhibitions, which are usually good. (I rounded up to 5 stars from a lenient 4.5.) (Original) Personal destul de amabil, insa, daca mai e putin timp pana la inchidere, slabe sanse sa vizitati macar expozitiile temporare, care de obicei sunt bune. (Am rotunjit la 5 stele de la un indulgent 4,5.)

I liked the temporary exposition they had. They didn't have a toilet for tourists or wardrobe though. They also made me use shoe covers (not sure if due to cleanliness or covid) which felt weird to walk on a gallery.

  • 4/5 Maria14178 2 years ago on Google
Very beautiful! Loved it! The only weird thing was that at the entrance it said that we are allowed to take pictures if the flash isn't on. However, inside we found out that that only applies to cellphones. Why? Nobody was able to say, not even the staff.

A compact and punchy museum. No filler here, only the best paintings.

  • 4/5 Cristiana D. 3 years ago on Google
It's a must! Although not big, it has only beautiful paintings. Some remarcable pieces by Romanian artists at the permanent exhibition and marvelous lithographies in the new temporary one. Only masters of modernism and surrealism.
