Unfortunately I cannot give a positive opinion on the respective place. It is closed to visitors and in a state of neglect for almost 4 years, the rubbish bins are not emptied periodically, and the rubbish overflows to the ground and there are not enough bins. There is no fountain to quench your thirst. There are no benches to rest and admire the landscape. The experience, visiting the fortress, for some could be bleak and disappointing. The mown grass is not collected, just as the excrements left in the sun or in the shade are not collected by the numerous dog owners during their outings. The Citadel is crumbling down from day by day, we hope that one day or another, the competent authority will seriously take care of this tourist attraction , resurrecting it from its near brain death and physical decay. For my part, I'm a daily visitor to the place, I try to make a small contribution by cleaning here and there, and respecting the environment. I really care about this site.

Not that bad. Unfortunately closed so you can only walk around. Anyway you can go up the hill, it's not far from the center. And if you go from Strada Mihai Eminescu, you can climb a long staircase (near building 6). This is also a kind of entertainment.

Just as another reviewer already said, what a disappointment. You walk all they way up the hill to a beautiful view only to find the place closed!!! No reason, no opening date or hour, nothing, just "Closed". Why is it so hard to keep people informed about what is going on with public places?

Temporarily closed but still a nice place to walk to and around. The walk there is good exercise and the views are nice. You can see the city all around. The citadel is in disrepair and it is a pity since it can be one of the major attractions of Brașov.

From this place you can easily see the city around the hill. The citadel is closed for visiting but as I remember inside it was an restaurant and a museum. . Anyway it is accessible an it worth to make a tour around. Also you can enjoy the sun while resting on the grass.

I hope the city hall can get back the ownership of this jewel . It’s position is wonderful , it is situated in the heart of the city with stunning views of the old town on one side, and the new town on the other side. It is just breath taking . Imagine if a restaurant , a hotel even a events hall will be open ?! Shame for the present owners who manage to close it and let it to the stage of self-destruction.

Very nasty from the admins! The citadel is CLOSED to visitors, it can only be seen from the outside, whoever wrote the schedule here on the site could have mentioned that!

According to others it has been closed for 4 years. Jan 2022 it is still closed. Not sure why Google thinks it’s open 🤷‍♂️

Sadly it's not open for the public even if it's fully intact on the inside with all it's original furniture (based on what a security guard told me). But the panoramic view was worth it ! Amazing views and a free way to see Brasov from the top (instead of the Tampa cable car)

Nice citadel, with clear potential to become a significant touristic objective for Brasov once restored. Happy to have had the chance of visiting it before the major renovations that will start soon (with no clear timeline).

very nice place to visit and a good excuse to exercise in nature... some local lady showed me a short road through woods to get there fast... you should search that road to go up and the principal road to get down.. 😁

For the time being, it is closed for visiting the interior, but it is worth the walk to stay away from the hustle and bustle of the city. There are benches around the monument from where you can admire the city

Favorite place to go in Brasov, there are not many tourists that come here so it s pretty quiet. It has a spectacular view of the city and how it changes from visit to visit. A shame that it s not being taking care of.

too bad that this place is nothing special... its good for a little walk away from the medina, a little breathe. you don't have a special view of the city, you can't go in. but other than that, it doesn't harm stretching your legs and getting up here.

A fantastic place to see the old and the new parts of Brașov. Unfortunately you can only walk around it, there is no possibility to get inside.

Typical Romania. Because of a 7 year dispute the citadel is closed. Total farce as it seems one of the most interesting historical buildings of Brasov. Fortunately the private owners lost their court case. They should be locked up here till re-opening

Nice view, but you can see just the new part of Brasov, not the old center, due to areas of tall vegetation.

This fortress is very old from the city of Kronstadt. It is beautiful on the interior and exterior. I have been there some years ago when it was open. It had a big terrain inside it and people were crowded everywhere. But nevertheless it had left a good impression in my memory. 5 stars, I reccomend!
