High School Johannes Honterus

High school

😠 School where there are no young teachers. Young teachers are completely discouraged from working at Honterus. Dissappointing for a European school nowadays!

Best high school in the city - and the oldest one in Romania. Don't listen to people who graduated from Șaguna or Meșotă. They are just envious. Or joking. Or both.

Lutheran reformer in Transylvania. Maybe if this man have not existed, Transylvania wouldn't be as we know it today. Converting all the Transylvanian Saxons to Lutheranism, he made a a huge thing, enforcing the ethnical identity of the Saxons, I think if this wouldn't have happened, maybe the Saxon communities would had mixed up with the hungarian ones (Roman-Catholics just like the Saxons, previously the reform). As a result, Transylvania wouldn't be so full of colors thanks tot the multucultural space had offered trough history. Romanians, Hungarians and Saxons.

Everything in that area is named after him because he helped create it. From the first public school, kindergarten.

A nice statue of a very important historical figure. He was a German, who lived in the city, and created some of the first schools and operated a printing press. The schools that he started still exist and are opposite his statue. It is mainly because of him that the Black Church became Lutheran.
