One of the best well kept churches that I've visited. Such a pleasant, quiet and airy vibe once you enter the courtyard. You have museum part, ramparts, church with the highest tower in the vicinity - 56m - which you can climb and see the view of the county. The souvenir shop also has some good maps and visual representations on paper of the local history. Give this place a try! P.S.: You can also camp near the church (see attached photo)

Absolutely stunning and so very well preserved. It is located right in the very heart of Harman village ( which by the way means Honey Castle in German) and it dates back to the 13th century when Saxons built the original structure. The bulwarks and strong walls surrounding the church are fairly impressive, but the paintings dating back to the 15th century in the chapels can still be observed in their original form and that is very impressive to me. The climb to the bell tower was a tad challenging for those out of shape but the view from up top is spectacular. The guide is very friendly and knowledgeable.

A fortified church designed to protect the families who lived there in times of war. Some of the houses in the village are used as a museum that presents life at that time. Impressive.

Well preserved. We got up to the tower, don't go if you are afraid of high or narrow places. We enjoyed the visit, with a guide it is possible that it would have been better.

Lovely, not so small, fortified church. You have quite a lot to see. Really enjoyed my time here.

This is extremely lovely place! The church is beautiful, you can go on defence walls and tower bell. There are not many tourists here and tickets are for only 10 RON. Must see place when you are near Brasov.

Absolutely fabulous church! 100 Saxon’s live in the village too. It means honey bear in German the churches name. Our bus driver stopped here especially for us, you need 45min-1h but rushed you can do it in half an hour. Climb the tower. Be careful of your head and the stairs are steep and wooden. Amazing museums too and the piano is so cool. Don’t forget to see the classroom too. Check out the pet cats and speak to the lovely ticket lady, she can tell you lots of interesting facts. A must visit!!

Truly an amazing place to visit. I had never seen a fortified church before and walked inside a huge defensive circular wall. Everything was well preserved if a bit dusty but felt very real. We received a booklet in English explaining all about it and thoroughly explored every single bit! We even climbed the bell tower which was very steep with open wooden steps at the top.

Beautiful peaceful place, full of history, well preserved, presents country life with recreated living rooms, different workshops, school... Sometimes it is a place for good quality music concerts. If you're brave enough you may go to the church tower where you will enjoy a 360 panorama, admire the tower clock mechanism and the carved in stone stairs.

It is a really good place to spend some family time, even with small children. The great thing is ,you can climb the church bells tower , where the views are very nice. Inside you're gonna feel like you're in a small museum .

Spectacular, much better than Bran Castle if you want to soak up Romanian culture. It surprises both inside and out.

We were there during the Teutonic Festival in 25-27th of September. The guided tours were amazing! With the tour guide giving insight not just into the history of the place but also into the locals' past and society! The fortress itself was interesting due to the small chambers open (which gave you a glimpse into the day to day lives of the Sași) and the possibility to walk along on the defense wall.

If you are staying in Brasov, this place is worth a visit. If you have bigger fortified churches on your way (for example Rupea) i would skip this one. P.S. here i stand corrected, Rupea comparison is inadequate. Should have used Viscri instead.

On of the nicest fortified churches in Romania.Very well preserved. Tower can be climbed and a lot to see to learn about life of German communities in Romania.

Well preserved fortified church. You can spend a good half a day with all the family. Pair it with Prejmer Fortified Church. Bonus: you can climb all the way up to the top of the bell tower just be careful when you are under the bell, it's quite loud and strikes every quarter of the hour.

Very authentic and well preserved. You can walk inside the walls! I recommend this fortified church over the one at Prejmer.

What a beautiful place! The church itself is a German Lutheran church (built Roman Catholic). The museum is decorated with a lot of effort and love for details. The almost extinct culture of the Transylvanian Saxons is preserved and presented in an astonishing way. Bell tower was a bit scary (mind the wooden ladders!) but worth the climb.

AMAZING!!!!! The best thing I saw in the Brasov region by far. Loved it. Loved the simple elegance. Loved climbing up to the Bell Tower. Loved walking the walls.

You have to go inside to experience the uniqueness of fortified churches. You can climb the bell tower. The description and history is also written in English.

This is a lovely place! There were not many tourists when we got there (Sunday afternoon, around 4PM) and we enjoyed a quiet and relaxing walk around the church, the defense walls and the bell tower. The receptionist was a very nice guy to whom you can address different questions. You can also enjoy a nice talk with him if you want. He also handed us a printed guide with useful information about the place. As a bonus there are cats! <3 We met three of them and got a souvenir that has one of the cats on it. Totally recommend if you are near Brasov as it takes you around 15 minutes to get there.
