Definitely recommend the tour. I was skeptical, but it was worth it. Calling ahead to book is a must! We saw lots of people get turned away who showed up without a booking. Call the day before, and call early when they open. Don’t waste money through a tour service - just call the palace directly. The history of the palace isn’t very happy, but the building is truly impressive. Pictures do not do the palace justice. It’s so incredibly huge. Our tour guide, Francisc L was fantastic. If you have him, you’ll be in great hands.

This place is incredible. Only 5% of it is visitable and it was huge. The rooms are big and stunningly decorated thorough carpets, curtains and fantastic chandelier. Guided tour is the only kind of visit that you can do it here, they do lots of them and in various language, anyway it's better to reserve in advance. The guide was really interesting and gave us lots of insights about this palace.

Very interesting visit, you get to know more about the history of Romania and the incredible background of this building. It is HUGE (the second largest in the world) and you will visit only some of the thousands rooms it encompasses on 9 floors. To be able to visit, you need to book one day in advance by calling. On the day of the visit, come 10min in advance in order to take your ticket without stress. You also have some clean toilets if you need to go before visiting. The whole visit is guided, you need to stay in the group. Our guide was adorable, funny and easy to listen to. The visit lasted ~1h.

A nice historic place of Bucharest, unfortunately the tours are done by the government so there's not much else to learn then kubic meters of a and liters of b. I suggest doing some reading before going in there, there's lots of interesting things to learn about it which the tour won't tell you. The place looks great, is well maintained and getting in is fairly easy

This is an immense structure, second only in mass to the Pentagon. It was the result of extreme ambition. Several churches were literally wheeled away by clever and determined engineers, to protect them from the destruction this project wrought, in response to the desire of people determined to hold on to their community heritage. The building is huge, extravagant and very quirky. It is heavily clad in marble, adorned generously with flamboyant chandeliers, and much decoration, with leather and hardwood furnishings, and elaborate ceilings. No doubt there are many secret corners and passageways.

Parliament of Bucharest is the heaviest building on this planet and second largest administrative building in the world after Pentagon. They have official guided tours but the bookings need to be done in advance by calling them as the slots are very limited. Bookings start a day prior only. The guided tour was pretty good and explained many facts about Romanian political history and some interesting facts related to the construction and history of the building. I would definitely recommend this when in Romania.

Amazing palace of parliament with interesting history. 2nd biggest administrative building in the world. Most expensive building in the world. About 1million cubic metres of marble used. 1000s of rooms but tours only take you to some of the nice one. usually tours take 2 hours but if events being hosted. The screenshot shows the gate for entrance to the parliament for tours. Remember to bring your original passport, no exceptions. Tours mainly in English but some days can be in Spanish. Book tour a day before by calling. Usually they have enough spots to fit you in for English tours.

Booked the tour through GetYourGuide although it might be worth booking direct as the tour guide just took us to the entrance and then left us with the parliaments tour guide.. The place is huge, with over 5% viewable on the tour, although you do see the main rooms. The tour guide inside was great and provided lots of insights into each room and paintings scattered around the halls. Definitely worth a look!

This is absolutely beautiful. Highly recommend a visit. Worth spending time here and very nice to see. The palace is marvellous and I would consider this place a must-do in Bucharest. Bear in mind to take your passport with you as it is compulsory, and do carry any dangerous objects as there is a security check at the beginning.

K, so here's The Concise Deal: * you must make an appointment by phone in order to visit * when calling, you can choose between the English and the Romanian language tour * bring identification matching the names of all persons you listed on the phone * the tour lasts about one hour, and there's a slow airport-style security check at the entrance * you'll only visit a very small portion of the rooms in the palace * the rooms have a rather monotonous architecture, but are... grand * pay attention to the echo room, the one without any windows, deemed the safest in the palace. When the guide asks the visitors to clap, there's a very cool echo effect. Unfortunately I missed recording it :(

Definitely worth the tour and your time! Much to see, impressive and full of history. Decent price. If l recall exactly: 40 lei for an adult, 20 lei for students, 10 lei for kids. Takes about and hour or a bit more. You need reservation before you go.

A must-see in Bucharest, but we were told by our guide from another tour that the winter palace is more worthy of a visit than the Palace of Parliament. However, we found this visit very interesting nonetheless, although it does seem a ginormous waste of money and materials, and the people in Bucharest suffered a lot, apparently, but its construction, with many losing their houses or even their lives. We bought our tickets on TripAdvisor and everything went fine. Don't miss it, since it's slowly "sinking" and, according to the guide, it will eventually collapse in around 20 years...

One of he most interesting place to visit in Buchurest. The building is huge and I think it is the second largest in the world. Impressive interior with one huge room after another including monumental staircases and reception halls, many beautifully decorated. The Building's interior is simply stunning. All the chandeliers and carpets in here are beautiful. All the floors and walls are marble. Worth visiting!

An absolutely monumental building that is incredible in size and just jaw dropping to see. I didn't go inside but from the outside, it's striking to see. If you want to venture inside, you need to go through the tours. Keep in mind the entrance is on the right side of the building (when facing it) and walking from one end to the other can be long. So sort out your directions beforehand. A truly striking monument.

This building is a must for those visiting Bucharest and surely for those who want to understand the contemporary history of Romania. Tours are guided by English speaking guides who are knowledgeable. In our case the guide was just repeating by heart the script of the tour, but it was still enough. Despite the low number of spaces they let you visit, the quality (and size) of those is beyond normal. Highly recommended.

This is truly a spectacular building. It is said to be the second largest building in the world after the Pentagon. Large sweeping staircases, marble throughout, grand rooms beautifully done. It is truly impressive, sits on 12 acres of grounds and is placed so that it is a showplace. Lots of stories on this building from the communist era and its construction and what it cost the Romanian people. For a small fee you can take photographs but it is well worth it. The tour takes about 3-4 hours and it is easily accessible for even the most limited travelers. The staircases are wide and easy to climb and not intimidating at all.

massive as very few buildings in the world, seen almost from any possible angle, made from greed and by peoples blood and famine, preserved after the fall and now serves as a multiexhibition hall. Get there early , book a ticket , it is not expensive and follow the tour, it is very interesting, marbles gold, huge rooms and lots of stairs. The view from the roof is stunning

I’ve read quite a lot about this massive structure and it’s respective history and was genuinely excited by the prospect of touring the inside. I had zero expectations of seeing everything due to its massive size, however after finally securing tickets, I was hopeful to see at least the highlights of the structure and learn some interesting details that I hadn’t already read about. Sadly, none of this happened. We were told to arrive no later than 30 minutes prior to our scheduled tour, only to stand in the blazing sun for almost 50 minutes before being greeted and welcomed. Once inside, similar to airport security, you must remove watches, belts, phones, cameras, etc for X-ray scanning then once completed, you gather within your tour group and wait for the tour to begin. I have been on many, many, many guided tours though out the world and I can say with 100% confidence; this tour was the worst I’ve ever experienced. The tour began and then continued through several massive, marble lined rooms that amplified and echoed ALL sounds, including the one voice that was the guide. No one and I mean literally no one, was able to hear a single word from our tour guides mouth as she made ZERO efforts to speak louder or request everyone’s attention. We quickly wondered from one massive room to the next (absolutely stunning from the little we did see) and heard nothing but a distant, monotone, mumbling voice of the guide speaking, none of which was loud enough to be comprehensible. Everyone in our group (about 20-25 people) were all looking at one another and shrugging, or smiling and shaking their head as clearly I wasn’t the only one filled with confusion and disappointment. The tour was so rushed that you literally needed to take photos as you walked as you would have been quickly left behind otherwise. The guide walked our group through four or five massive rooms, then returned everyone to the same security checkpoint where you first started, all within about 50 minutes and leaving everyone including myself disappointed and frustrated. What a waste of time and money!! You could say that it was our tour guides fault for this low review and that certainly is part of the reason, but the reality is that I’m guessing all of the guides take the same predetermined route and approximately the same amount of time, leaving everyone who tours this structure feeling rushed and disappointed on how little you actually get to see, be forewarned. An interesting side note, the guide allowed everyone to questions at the end of the tour and I took this opportunity to inquire about something I had read. According to several sources, only about 30% of the structure is being used and 70% of the Palace of Parliament remains unused and in an unfinished state. The tour guide quickly answered that this was absolutely untrue and that 100% of the structure is fully complete and currently being used. Once I exited the building, I looked through several of the windows of the building only to see raw concrete walls and crumbling ceilings, various raw materials scattered thorough out the rooms and what looked like mold on the interior walls, clearly unfinished and unused! Don’t take my word, have a peek for yourself. There are about 15 to 20 exterior window that the sidewalk runs parallel to and you can easily look inside and see for yourself. Clearly this is not something that the guides want you to know about and hide the facts, although I’m not sure why. Hopefully this review was enlightened, I wish I had read a similar review like this prior to wasting my time and money, hopefully it will help you save some of yours.

A must see attraction! A behemoth of a building and quite interesting on the inside. If you come from a former communist country you would not be that surprised, but if you are from Western Europe you would be staggered. An incredibly controversial place, but an important reminder.

I bought tickets online for a tour in English, I went to visit the location hoping to find out more information from the guide and I had an unpleasant surprise: the guide did not even make an introduction when we gathered the whole group but he just told us “follow me” he took us through some halls and corridors about which he didn't tell us much. It was a disappointing experience I do not recommend. I only recommend that the guides be more communicative and provide more information, stories and legends about the impressive location. I'm sure more can be done or said.

Historic and worth visiting building. But you can’t really enjoy it since it was built during the worst period of Romanian history . Well preserved rooms and amphitheaters, so luxurious that you can’t even imagine . Most of the rooms are not accessible to public. You can visit this monument only with a guided tour (ok price, normal). I was furious after the tour because our guide did not even mention once the revolution of the people against the dictator. He explained us that people were willing to work for that monument and he even tried to pass that Nadia Comaneci was enjoying her time there. Anyway , read the history beforehands and admire the architecture and art while visiting. Probably no.1 landmark of Bucharest .

It is said to be in the second place after the pentagon in size. Tour guides specify the features of each hall, which is very entertaining, and if they have extra features such as acoustics, they have them checked while they are in the hall. They objectively describe the events that took place while the building was being built. The tour was really fun, it took about 1 hour, but we couldn't understand how it went. I'm sure you'll get dizzy looking at the marbles inside. As the tour guide said, if there was more marble, it would have more rooms.

The Palace of Parliament in Bucharest is a testament to human ambition and architectural brilliance! If the world were under attack tomorrow, this behemoth would be my safe haven. Its history is a mind-bending journey, and while the view from outside is majestic, the interiors offer a breathtaking panorama that leaves one in awe. 😍 As someone who passionately shapes bodies and minds as an international remote personal trainer and life coach, I'm not typically the tourist type. Yet, for this monument, I highly recommend strapping on that fanny pack, grabbing your camera, and diving deep into its wonders. For those looking to align their body and spirit to match the grandeur of such places, I'm here to guide. Remember to have your passport for entry and to always aim for personal greatness just as this building does for architecture. 📸🏛️💼💪🏼

(Translated by Google) The Palace of the Parliament in Bucharest, Romania (known before the 1989 revolution as the House of the Republic or People's House [2]), measures 270 m by 240 m, 86 m high, and 92 m underground made in the spirit of realistic socialist architecture. [ 3] It has 9 levels on the surface and another 9 underground. According to the World Records Academy, the Palace of Parliament is the second largest administrative building for civilian use in the world, and the most expensive administrative building in the world and the heaviest building in the world. [4] The Parliament Palace building is located in the central part of Bucharest (sector 5), on the place now called Arsenal Hill, surrounded by Izvor Street to the west and northwest, United Nations Boulevard to the north, Liberty Boulevard to the east and Calea 13 Septembrie the south. It is 10 minutes away from Unirii Square and 20 minutes from the North Railway Station (by bus 123). The hill on which the Parliament Palace stands today is generally a creation of nature, with an initial height of 18 m, but the part from Libertății Boulevard is artificially raised. The building is huge but there is nothing else nearly to really get a sense of scale from. It's twice as wide, twice as deep and four times as tall as Buckingham Palace! We went inside without an appointment at 11:45 and got booked on a tour at 13:00 at the cost of 40 Lei (£7). You have to have your passport scanned to enter. The English tour guide Marius was excellent, mixing facts and humour. The tour took about an hour, but not everything was open due to renovations.

Amazingly huge, can not even imagine how huge it really is. It’s called the heaviest building in the world, with the whole palace designed with marbles. One of the landmarks ordered by Nicolae Ceaușescu, together with the long span of fountains and the big square in from of the palace of parliament. They say the palace was completed only a big part of the original design. And Ceausescu’s master plan included many other structures and landmarks besides it, with a total area slightly bigger than Venice. The palace of parliament has more depth underground than the height above the ground and has 1100+ rooms. Everything inside the palace is huge, huge marble structure, huge curtains, huge carpets, huge staircases, huge chandeliers. They say only 3% is used regularly and only 45% is ever utilized. It’s also said that the lower parts of the palace is connected to a huge underground tunnel network that takes you out of Bucharest city.

This building is spectacular. The photos don’t do its monumental size justice. I walked around the entire perimeter and it took around 30mins highlighting the size of it. Was great to be able to experience it. There was a-lot of construction and renovation on the sides and back but you were still able to enter. Be weary of times to enter inside if travelling there as weekends has condensed hours. Hope this is helpful (June 2023)

We are talking about an insanely huge building, the second largest after the US pentagon. The building is interested only by its size. Its architecture is not that notable, but it is fascinating and shocking to hear from a guide all the historical facts behind its construction. We took the senate tour from the left side of the building and we had the chance to see the amazing senate room. I definite must visit when in Bucharest. Tip: Book a guided tour in advance.

Highlight for me was Palace of the Parliament, its HUGE! Couldn’t remember everything so hit Wikipedia for some details. It is the heaviest building in the world and the second largest administrative building in the world built by Nicolae Ceaușescu, the president of Communist Romania known for its ornate interior composed of 23 sections, the palace houses the two chambers of the Parliament of Romania, along with three museums and an international conference center. The museums in the Palace are the National Museum of Contemporary Art, the Museum of Communist Totalitarianism and the Museum of the Palace. As of 2020, the Palace of the Parliament is valued at €4 billion, making it the most expensive administrative building in the world. The cost of heating, electricity, and lighting alone exceeds $6 million per year. From what our guide told us the communists took all the land from people living there and built this HUGE building and the boulevards and presence surrounding it. It is really impressive and we only saw a small part of it. The individual rooms are impressive but what sets it apart is the sheer size of the facility.

The palace is interesting and a must-visit to understand Romanian history. The guide Alina did a great job, but the reception staff are otherwise so-so. The lobby area could look a lot nicer (looks ugly with paper everywhere) and the waiting area and parts of the palace smell like sewage for some reason, so this could be improved. 5 of 9 halls were available for viewing only. It is a must to book in advance and take your passport - this is not explained well and I’m sure it frustrates a lot of visitors. I recommend the House of Ceausescu a lot more.

The Palace of Parliament, located in Bucharest, Romania, is a grand architectural marvel and a symbol of the country's tumultuous history. It is one of the largest administrative buildings in the world, constructed during the reign of dictator Nicolae Ceaușescu in the 1980s. This colossal structure boasts ornate design, marble-clad interiors, and a staggering 1,100 rooms. It serves as the seat of the Romanian Parliament and remains a testament to both Romania's past and its aspirations for the future.

You must book 24 hours in advance to avoid disappointment. Such an impressive building, for all that we were able to see.

I think it's one of those must-do experiences; it's quite different from visiting a museum or other attractions. Usually, all tours come with a guide, which is quite informative. Make sure you take your passport with you, the tour lasts about an hour.

Definitely worth a visit if you're in Bucharest! Guaranteed you'll be impressed!

A must see in Bucharest. Only the basic tour is offered due to the COVID19 restrictions. It´s an hour visit, covering only 3% of the total surface and a 2 kilometers walk around jaw-dropping interiors. It´s beyond colossal. The outside of the building exhibits already serious decay and damages. Inside the situation is better. It´s quite mind puzzling to know that the construction is still not completed. Highly recommeded.

One of the largest buildings in the world. Symbol of the Çeauşima - mass destruction of the city centre. Socialist dictator destroyed a half of the historical centre, forcibly moved tens of thousands people, spent billion of dollars just to build this weird building, that while being constructed costed another thousands of lives. A memento to socialistic mania. With that being said, from purely touristic point of view, it is worth visiting. Tickets should be reserved a day before, this can be done only via phone call. Sometimes they let people without it, if there is place. Ticket costs 60 lei for an adult. Whole tour took less than an hour, including security check that lasted 10 minutes, so approximately 40 minutes of sightseeing. 3 out of 9 available halls was not accessible at the time, but ticket price remained the same. In the tour there is a lot of totally irrelevant informations like the amount of crystals, lenght of the carpets etc. They mention some historical background, sure, but a tourist who had no idea about Romania's history may not remember any of this, drowned in the tsunami of useless numbers. But maybe that is the point. Still, worth visiting.

No visit to Bucharest could be complete without visiting this absolute monster of a building. You can boggle your brain with the facts and stats - Google it, you’ll be amazed! - and make sure you book a tour (do it online to book a slot). The hideous history and austere exterior conceal a frankly gobsmackingly opulent interior. Our guide was remarkably witty, informed and thorough (if a little scary!) Don’t miss this. It’s a knockout.

Guide Ana-Maria is good, I liked her excursion. But, for God's sake, how is possible to call Ceaușescu as a “political leader”? This is insane. (Better to buy tickets 24 hours before the day of visiting, but even if you missed this opportunity, just get the ticket office inside the building, and try to buy tickets there, someone could don't come).

I visited the Palace of the Parliament on a Monday together with my team and really enjoyed this experience, especially thanks to our guide Lawrence (Laurentiu) - a young man who had a mix of extensive knowledge about the place, great fluency in English and a lot of charisma. Our tour was both informative and entertaining, we had a pleasant time learning things and laughing a lot thanks to our funny guide. The Palace in itself is a really impressive building which you should visit at least once if you are in Bucharest. This was my second time (in almost twenty years) and unfortunately the upper floor was not open for visiting this time - the view to the street from the balcony is something you would remember as well many years after the tour.

Visiting the Palace of Parliament in Bucharest was an awe-inspiring experience that left me utterly captivated. The sheer scale and grandeur of this monumental structure left me in a state of wonder from the moment I laid eyes on it. As you approach the Palace, its sheer size takes your breath away. The intricate details of the façade, the impressive columns, and the stunning symmetry of the architecture are a testament to the craftsmanship and vision that went into its construction. Walking through the ornate corridors and vast halls, I felt like I was stepping into a world of opulence and history. The guided tour provided deep insights into the building's history and significance, offering a glimpse into the past and the tumultuous times during which it was conceived and built. The guides were knowledgeable and passionate, making the tour both educational and engaging. One of the highlights was the grandeur of the Nicolae Ceaușescu's former office – a space that exudes power and authority. The opulent chandeliers, rich tapestries, and intricate furnishings added to the feeling of being in the presence of history. The panoramic view of Bucharest from the balcony was breathtaking. The city stretched out before me, and I gained a new appreciation for its layout and beauty. However, it's essential to note that the Palace of Parliament also represents a complex history and political context. It's a symbol of both ambition and controversy, as its construction came at a significant cost to the city and its people. In conclusion, the Palace of Parliament is an architectural masterpiece that's a must-visit for anyone traveling to Bucharest. The blend of history, artistry, and grandeur creates an experience that's hard to put into words. Whether you're an architecture enthusiast or simply curious about history, this landmark will undoubtedly leave an indelible mark on your memory.

Prepare to be awestruck! Behold the second largest building in the world, standing tall just after the mighty Pentagon. I was fortunate enough to step inside this architectural marvel, reserved exclusively for a select group of future leaders. Let me tell you, it's enormous! I was taken aback by the abundance of marble, and the fact that this colossal structure was erected a mere three decades ago. Unbelievable, right? I hope the pictures and videos I captured can convey the essence of this extraordinary experience. Sadly, not many people get the chance to partake in such incredible conditions. Oh, and rest assured, the entire visit was meticulously supervised, ensuring utmost security and peace of mind. Lockdown tight!

TOTAL SCAM DON'T GO In order to book for a tour you have to call the office since no website is available (in 2023?). The guy at the info point in the city center was super nice and booked for my friends and I. We payed something like 10€ each for the Italian guide and we got the most annoyed and unprepared guide of the whole world. I mean if you offer an Italian guide at least make sure she can speak Italian right? (It would have been better to ask for the English one). Other than that the tour is literally 20/30min long and the guide could only say "these are chandeliers.. these are carpets" and that was the tour... when at the end the guide said "you saw 5% of the palace.. the your ends now" we thought she was joking .. we ALL felt scammed. Anyway in my personal opinion the interiors of the palace are not even that stunning.. everything is big but nothing special or mesmerising. I clearly don't criticise the history and importance of the monument. Just don't waste your money on this. If you see it from outside is just enough.
