It was ok, way more to visit than I expected. There's two paths to follow, but only one really shows you anything. There's about 1km to walk from the parking spot. Only accessible from there on for people with mobility issues. Although I don't see how they'd be able to visit further than the entrance, as the road is through the forest. Overall, there's a lot of things to see.

Amazing place and experience, it's really well kept and you don't really need hiking equipment to go up there. A big plus is the entrance fee is really cheap. They have an on-site spring with drinkable water near the ruins and toilets near the entrance. We visited this place on a public holiday (1st of June) and there were plenty of parking spaces available. Be careful when driving up there, the road is narrow and some people forget that. Drive safe! A must go to location whenever you are in Hunedoara county. Will definetly visit again.

The most beautiful and interesting encounter with history. Especially since I was the first visitor on that day and the only one until I left. The road at the pass is about 800 meters long, but being uphill it seemed like 5 km😁. The ticket price was 15 RON and the only complaint was that there was no souvenir. Excavations we noticed are in progress and we look forward to other attractions in the area.

Everything is Extraordinary! It's a must for all Romanians but not only. Not only the wonderful and interesting works of art and spirit of the Dacians but also the forest, the incredible forest. I enjoy each second 🤭

The stones have been brought from over 50 km and made me wonder what did they find so special about this place to carry these big blocks over mountains. I was really touched. From the parking place there’s a paved path to the fortress of about 1 km uphill. Pretty easy walk.

Not a great place to visit. They reconstructed the form of the original temple with wood logs and the final look is quite cheap. They call it 'the romanian Stonenge" but it is nothing like that. In my opinion is totally skippable.

It’s a wonderful archeological site situated in the heart of the forest. It’s ~1 km walk from the parking spot. It was discovered at the beginning of 1900th, part of the discovery was hidden back under the ground for a better preservation. I would recommend to have a walk around the entire area because it definitely worth it.

the parking lot is approximately 1 km away from the site, from there you walk on a paved road among the trees and you discover, on the top, some incredible things done more than 2000 years ago

Well worth the visit. You get to understand a culture that challenged the mighty Romans during their peek power. The site is small, only a small area of the former Dacian capital is available for the public

Very nice trip. At the base of Sarmizegetusa there are plenty of parking lots. From the car you walk in nature about 1 km to Sarmizegetusa. Beautiful piece of history of the Dacians. You can spend 1.30 hours there. Very relaxing.

We went with kids but without a guide (we asked bit it was not possible) it was just rocks. Only a few signs in front of some rocks but no map no flyers anything. Parking lot very very small in front ( about 20-30 cars) , the rest of the cars on the small access road and from there another 1,5 km walking uphill. Toilets just at the entrance and not quite ok ( turqish ones with no seats).

Unique and special ruins in the mountains at a height of more than 1000 m. They look different from all other ruins and almost 2000 years old.

Disappointing. Specialists missed to really organise the tour of this old and unique treasure of the Romanian history.

I've been here 5 times and I'd go every year, if possible. It is my place of peace, of a very positive energy that I can only link to Mother Nature and its supreme beauty. Go, without a care in the world, you will like it here!

A beautiful, peaceful place with lots of positive energy. Feeling a part of the dacic history.

The first concern is that nubae can pay by card. To reach the citadel, it is an easy climb down with a length of about 1km, access by car is not allowed all the way to the top. The drive to the parking lot seemed to be long and very winding. The ruins are interesting from a historical perspective. I would have liked more details on them at each point. I don't know if human sacrifices were also made on the "altar" and I can't figure out how the Romans conquered the fortress. 🙂

This place is filled with positive energy. People working there look so positive and are very friendly. This place has my heart. The calmness there is inexpressible.

I caught a real winter day. I left the car in the parking lot 2 km from the site. I walked on the forest road and it was delightful: fir trees full of snow....Unfortunately the whole complex was covered with snow with few exceptions. Summer is something!

Very beautiful place with an amazing energy. It was a rainy day for us, so the place was not crowded; even with the rain, we could enjoy the sights and walk around admiring the nature.

The guides are very knowledgeable and there are many. The remains are amazing and it's so important to know the history on site. Plus it was a sacred place so it's interesting to be around and feel the nature, as it's so isolated from the cities

Absolutely stunning, definitely worth the drive to get there. The road is well maintained, and you have about a 1 km climb on a paved road from the parking lot to the entrance. Then the trail itself is a pretty easy walk. The entire area is beautiful, and the ruins, such as they are (a lot of stones were taken by the Romans for other buildings) are still way more impressive than any pictures of them can convey. There are some signs with explanations in both Romanian and English. The entrance is cash only. The cell phone reception in the area ranges from bad to non-existent, so if you use navigation to get there, download the map beforehand. The same goes for any information about the site that you want to read online. Save it to your phone so you have it available during the visit.

Wonderful place! The site is about 1 kilometer away from the parking spot. The entrance fee is also cheap. A must see if you’re in Hunedoara county.

Came here after 20 years and is such an improved experience. I mean you cannot put your tent in the temple area anymore, but is organised and well maintained.

Visited in the evening. Wasn't crowded at all. Just a few people. Placed in the middle of the forest is quiet and relaxing. There is a 1.2 km walk through the forest from the parking to the site on a stone layered road

Only 3 stars because the facilities are horrible, there is no water to wash your hands after, there are no alleys. You can pay only cash. If it rains, you need boots. The explanations on the panels are poorly. I have expected so much more from the biggest archeologolical site from Romania.

We came from Huneodoara and its almost 40 km away from the city. The last 20 km were amaising through the villages, with the autumn colours and the narrow road(wich was in a verry good conditions) made the perfect trip.At the base of the sit are lots of parking places. The last km you have to walk but is a verry paved road through the woods.Once you arrive at the stone sit,the place and the images talk for themselvs.History and magic!

We visited on a weekday, and we were the only group there for about an hour. 5 lei for students, pupils and pensioners. 15 lei for adults.

The capital of the kingdom of Dacia. Very old. The last great Dacian king, Decebalus. Before the formation of Romania.
