An interesting and fun tour of old Bratislava, which took a lovely easy paced route around the city without feeling like you were in a rush (although the stairs up to the castle are killer 😂). My guide Katarína was very friendly and sweet, and I would recommend taking a tour with her if you get the chance - she is very enthusiastic and keen to share stories of the city, and her passion for the history of her country is very clear! Bratislava is an interesting city, and this tour is a good way to get an introduction before diving in, so I recommend it for your first day, to get a feel for the history and the locations of important spots. Of course the tour is also free if you choose not to give a tip, but I think you will agree it is worth paying by the end 😊

Roman was THE BEST tour guide and I’ve done a lot of these. He provided wonderful insight about the city, explaining its rich history, pointing out the best restaurants and food as well as interacting with health commentary and humor. Bratislava is a wonderful city with a mixture of cultures. Not everyone was friendly here although he certainly was. Ended up going on this tour because the trip I booked with TripAdvisor was canceled. And I’m so happy it was. I could not of had a better day trip in Slovakia and I would strongly recommend this tour to anyone visiting. See if you can get Roman. He is the best

We did the Old Town and Castle Tour. It was really very beautiful and interesting. Katarina told us a lot of interesting things about Bratislava and Slovakia. We would definitely recommend the tour.

This was the best walking tour of any city that I ever had. You Must do this when you are here in Bratislava. Recommended 100% Unfortunately, it started raining and the tour guide was kind enough to lend us some umbrellas and Poncho :)

We had a tour with Roman who was excellent. He provided a nice balance of history and humor in perfect English at a comfortable pace. We covered a lot of ground in the tour and felt it was a good city overview. He spoke very loudly so the entire group could easily hear. He was very kind and even showed us to the local supermarket and recommended traditional foods and wines for us. Fantastic experience. Thanks, Roman!

We literally stumbled upon this tour as we couldn’t find the other one that we were looking for. Roman was amazing and welcomed us to join in the walking tour. He gave amazing insights of the history & even provided us tips and also list of food to try (as the locals would!). We love how the tour took us on different route up and down the castle to see different sights! Would highly recommend if you are visiting Bratislava and looking to understand more about this beautiful city! Love it! 🥰

Roman and Martina are amazing guides! I joined the Spooky tour with Roman. He's perfect storyteller! That was great short tour, full of impressions and goosebumps. Joined Martina for Hidden gems tour - we saw the really hidden beautiful parts of city center, with interesting stories and perfect views. Both guides were really friendly, open and ready to help with any recommendations, advice, even to bring you back to meeting spot if you got lost :) highly recommend!

We had Roman as our tour guide. The tour was a great way to get an overview of the city. Roman was friendly, knowledgeable and helpful providing tips on places to eat as well as local dishes and drinks. Roman spoke perfect English and spoke loud enough for the whole group to hear. The tour was interesting and fun and we would recommend the tour for anyone wanting local knowledge of this beautiful city.

Congratulations Matej for delivering an informative, interesting tour of old Bratislava. It was good to do the tour to familiarise myself with the layout of the old town and be able ask a local questions. It’s a good route, good time frame and great mix of regular stops whilst covering a decent amount of ground. Thanks for the recommendations for food and what else to do.

Bianka was our guide and she was awesome. Very well educated. She knew all the top history moments and she had great sense of humor. We had a great time visiting Bratislava and when we’ll come back, we most certainly will do the same tour. Thank you Bianka 🙏

Today we had a great time while discovering the center of Bratislava with our amazing guide Mili Mundo. I think I will come again to feel the history, beauty and traditional experiences. I sincerely would like to thank Mili.

Highly recommend the city and the castle tour if you had done zero research like me and wanted to know about the city of Bratislava and Slovakia. Our guide Mili had so much energy and enthusiasm when guiding us through the city. Her knowledge really shined through when explaining to the group about the history, culture, tradition and politics of Bratislava and Slovakia! Join her and walk the city!

Free tour Bratislava We enjoyed listening to Roman, our tour guide of Free tours. We did the Free 20th Century, World War 2 and Communism Tour. He did a wonderful job teaching and telling us all about this interesting history of Slovakia. He has a nice way of storytelling, has a good voice and we could all hear him really well. The highlights were interesting with historical details which were interesting for all participants of the group. Thank you again for this tour. We’ll come again to do other tours in Bratislava:)

Amazing tour! Our guide Roman was very knowledgeable and well-spoken. He took us around the beautiful old town and up to the castle, which held breathtaking views. He very kindly gives everyone recommendations for food, drinks, and things to do in the city. Absolute must-do for anyone visiting!

We really enjoyed the walking tour with Matej. He told the stories full of passion and you didn't want to miss a single moment of his tour because he had so many facts to tell about the places we visited. He really took you into the stories and also made it interactive. He also had one-on-one conversations with us every now and then when we were walking from one place to the other and gave everyone the space to ask questions. In the tour you will be taken through all the important and historical sights of Bratislava and time wise it was perfect. Definitely the best walking tour we've ever had!

Highly recommended! The tour was suggested by staff at my hostel - and I was more than happy with my choice. Both Paula (hidden gems tour) and Martina (city and castle tour) did an amazing job, and I could tell they both love what they are doing. Not wanting to compare their great jobs in any way, I nevertheless want to mention that I particularly felt well taken care of by Martina who was always concerned of all tourists wellbeing given the heat (32 C) today. Also, her knowledge about Bratislava in specific and Slovakia in general was (is!) outstanding, and ever more she burned for sharing it what made this tour so special. A huge thumbs up, and an even greater thank you for making my day - and Bratislava the beautiful surprise it became for me.

My friend and I had the wonderful opportunity to explore the beautiful city of Bratislava through a delightful walking tour "city castle tour", and we were absolutely captivated by the experience. The tour provided us with a wealth of information about the city's history, culture, and landmarks, all presented with a delightful touch of humor. It was a perfect blend of education and entertainment. As we strolled through the charming streets of Bratislava, our knowledgeable guide "Martina" shared fascinating facts and stories that brought the city to life. We learned about the historical significance of various buildings, the cultural heritage of the local people, and the unique traditions that make Bratislava so special. She also recommended the nice restaurants to get the food. Edit: After the good experience from our "city castle tour" from the same company, me and my friend had an exceptional experience with the walking tour guide "Katarina" who led us on two captivating tours: "20th Century - WW2 + Communism" and "Spooky." I thoroughly enjoyed every moment and was truly engrossed in the fascinating stories shared during both tours. The tour guide's demeanor was incredibly polite and humble, which added to the overall enjoyment of the experience. I highly recommend these tours for anyone seeking an engaging and memorable exploration of history and the supernatural.

I took two tours with Roman and absolutely loved them! Roman was a great guide and he takes you all over the Old Town and provides historical information regarding each stop. He adds humor to his tour and you ask him any and all questions! Had a great time and 100% recommend!

Arguably one of the best walking tours I have ever had. My tour guide Anna was sweet, patient and knowledgeable. Her love for the town and her country’s story will keep you captivated throughout the tour. You won’t want to miss Bratislava!

Roman was our guide and we quickly established rapport with him. He was knowledgeable, informative and amusing, but more than that he was a good companion for the 150 minutes of the tour. Always giving just the right amount of facts, but making what we saw live again in front of our eyes. The time went quickly. His advice about where to eat was followed and the meal we ate very much enjoyed

  • 5/5 Jack S. 2 years ago on Google
Roman, our guide, was professional. He could answer any question and encouraged people to ask on multiple occasions. His friendly calm demeanor meant I was able to take in all the info and retain it. I came away understanding much more about Slovakia and Bratislava. I included a photo of a dish Roman brought up on tour and had it at a place he suggested. I would recommend this tour to anyone visiting Bratislava, like me, who wanted to really know more about the place.

Enjoyable old town and castle tour was provided by guide Matej! I strongly recommend to join this tour, especially if you are staying just 1-2 days in Bratislava. In gives totally different perspective and much useful information about the city and its history. Many thanks 💙

We saw a sign “free walking tour” and were able to just join the group. We went on the city and castle tour with guide Katarina, who was amazing! During this tour we walked around the historical centre of Bratislava and visited its castle. Guide Katarina gave a lot of interesting facts about the city, its history and its inhabitants without it feeling like a lecture (which is usually my problem during tours). She was funny and witty and you can tell she is passionate about what she does. The tour was in English. Bratislava is a beautiful city and I recommend going on a tour like this to learn more about things you would never know or see by yourself! The tour was free, but giving a tip is expected at the end (which is more than worth it!)

The free walking tour with Roman gave a good overview about the history and traditions in Bratislava and Slovakia in general. He presented the local attractions in a very entertaining way, so it was never boring to walk with him. As it started raining, he provided us with umbrellas and rain capes. At the end of the tour, he talked about traditional Slovak food and gave his recommendation for good and inexpensive restaurants in the city. A little note with his recommendations and highlights of the tour were handed out to every participant after the tour. Big thumbs up to Roman!

A highly recommended walking tour with Roman! The tour lasts two and a half hours, but the time passes quickly, as Roman shared with us historical information, local recommendations, and amusing anecdotes. He even managed to get us excited about climbing the stairs to the castle 😂 We especially appreciated the part of the tour dedicated to the Holocaust memorial and the remaining houses of the Jewish quarter. Dakujem, it was lovely 🙏

I joined the Spooky Legends of Bratislava tour, which was absolutely fantastic! Katarína was an engaging guide with a splendid sense of humor. I highly recommend this one-hour tour at any point during your stay in Bratislava.

✨Martina✨ was our guide and she was incredibly knowledgeable and easy going. Would highly recommend if you like to know the history of the country/city you are visiting from a local’s perspective. It was Martina’s birthday so she shouted us free cheese bread and wine to celebrate. 5 Stars 🇸🇰

I visited Bratislava for the first time and I took a walking tour with Anna. She took us around all the significant places in Bratislava, telling us the story of each place. She covered many different topics and I’m very grateful for all the knowledge I gained. She introduced us to their history, culture and tranditions. It was a nice experience. Thank you very much! PS: Even the tips on traditional food were very accurate.

A perfect weekend getaway is what I would describe Bratislava, and what made it perfect were these free walking tours. We did hidden gems and old town+castle tour, and what a journey it was! Both of our guides (Katarina and Sylvia (sorry if i got the names wrong, we met a lot of new people and lot of names to remember)) were amazing with their knowledge and sense of humor. The city itself is very friendly and very cozy and its a must visit if you are nearby. And the best way to explore the city is these tours... Thanks guys for making our time there so much fun😊

My best friend and I went on a tour with Roman and it was absolutely amazing. Roman was very knowledgable, funny, and he taught us a lot. Heck, because of his tour I now want to move to Bratislava. Im not kidding, my friend even got me an "I heart Bratislava" postcard. Roman really helped bring the city and the people to life. If you truly want to experience Bratislava-- go on a his walking tour. Also, all of his food recs rocked.

I don’t usually do walking tours as I like to explore myself at my own pace, however due to the limited time we had in Bratislava I decided to do the city and castle walking tour. Our guide was Bianca who was very energetic and informative throughout the experience. There are a few companies offering walking tours and I wasn’t sure which one to choose, but I’m glad I chose this one. This is a free tour but I would recommend a small tip of €10 per person. 10/10

Excellent tour! A must for anyone visiting Bratislava! Roman was our guide and he did a fabulous job, well-versed in everything there is to know about this city, having lived here his whole life, his passion shows. Considering the tour was free we got to learn so much about the history of the town, its people, the culture, its ever-changing sociopolitical status, right through to the pillars of the Slovakian economy. We left having had a lovely time, a great walk, taken great pictures, had a laugh and made some wonderful memories. A great place to start your trip with advice on where to eat, what to eat and how to make the most of your stay in this beautiful city!

We joined the city & castle tour very last minute on a Monday, on our only day in Bratislava and we are SO HAPPY we did. Lovely Katarina was guiding us and she showed us all the main attractions in the city centre and the castle. A blend of history, culture, quirky details, food recommendations & more. She answered all our questions with a smile, made sure we discovered everything there is to know about Bratislava in 2.5 hours and ensured we don't feel like we're missing out on anything important during our (very) short stay. After the tour we went to one of the pubs Katarina recommended (genuinely local, cheap, not touristy) and had some of the drinks and food she suggested and everything was delicious. Would highly recommend the tour, it made our stay. Thank you Katarina!

Came across the free walking tour by accident but I am glad I decided to join. I had a 1-day trip in Bratislava and this tour with Roman was just what I needed for the day. :) He was helpful and he has real wide knowlegde of this city. Would love to participate on any other tour like that anytime again.
