Don't
waste
your
money
or
time
renting
a
vehicle
from
Sixt
Rental
at
Piarce
International
Airport.
On
the
night
of
July
11,
2019
I
collected
a
Nissan
Note
vehicle
from
Sixt.
Per
usual,
before
driving
I
adjusted
the
mirrors
for
optimal
viewing.
For
some
strange
reason,
no
matter
how
much
I
adjust
the
left
side
mirror,
I
seemed
to
not
be
able
to
see
properly
out
of
it.
On
Friday,
July
12,
I
did
extensive
driving
from
the
south
to
the
north
of
Trinidad,
and
continued
to
encounter
difficulties
in
adjusting
the
left
side
mirror
so
that
I
could
get
the
best
view
out
of
it.
I
found
myself
having
to
adjust
it
when
driving
on
the
local
mainroads,
then
again
whenever
I
needed
to
reverse,
and
yet
again
(over
and
over)
when
on
the
highway.
Driving
on
the
highway
was
particularly
dangerous
because
no
matter
how
I
adjusted
the
mirror
it
still
left
a
substantial
blind
spot
in
my
view,
and
I
had
a
couple
near-miss
collisions
with
vehicles
on
my
left
on
account
of
simply
not
being
able
to
see
them
in
my
left
side
mirror.
At
one
point,
after
growing
frustrated,
I
even
asked
a
relative
to
help
me
adjust
the
mirror,
but
alas
even
that
failed
to
improve
the
view.
On
Saturday,
July
13,
while
driving
with
a
relative
in
the
front
passenger
seat,
he
noticed
bits
of
glue
around
the
edge
of
the
mirror...
it
was
then
we
realized
that
the
glass
of
the
mirror
had
been
replaced
perhaps
with
generic
mirror
glass,
and
not
the
specific
mirror
glass
for
cars
which
is
curved!!
No
wonder
the
perspective
in
the
mirror
was
so
distorted!!!
I
immediately
called
Sixt
to
report
the
issue
and
demand
to
exchange
the
vehicle.
The
woman
who
I
spoke
to
on
the
phone
did
not
ask
for
any
details
about
the
issue,
and
simply
said
I
could
exchange
the
vehicle
the
next
day.
On
Sunday,
July
14,
I
returned
to
Piarco
International
Airport
and
went
to
the
Sixt
service
desk
in
the
main
terminal
building.
Upon
arriving,
the
desk
was
unattended.
I
waited
about
10min
for
the
return
of
the
Sixt
agent.
When
he
returned
I
told
of
the
issue
with
the
vehicle
(that
the
left
side
mirror
was
defective
and
that
the
vehicle
was
unsafe
to
drive).
He
asked
no
further
questions
related
to
the
issue.
He
simply
took
the
keys
from
me
and
without
saying
anything
to
me,
left
(apparently
to
move
the
vehicle
from
the
holding
area
outside
the
terminal
building).
Upon
his
return,
he
began
telling
me
that
the
gas
was
not
at
the
same
level
as
when
I
took
the
vehicle,
and
that
I
would
be
charged
for
the
fuel
shortage.
I
asked
it
he
has
checked
the
mirror,
he
said
yes.
I
asked
if
after
his
assessment
his
conclusion
was
that
the
mirror
was
defective.
To
my
astonishment,
he
insisted
that
nothing
was
wrong
with
the
mirror,
and
that
the
vehicle
was
indeed
road
safe...
After
a
bit
of
haggling
he
volunteered
to
show
me
an
alternative
vehicle.
Upon
inspection,
I
discovered
that
that
vehicle
also
had
issues
with
its
left
side
mirror
-
there
was
little
range
of
motion
compared
to
the
right
side
mirror
which
seemed
to
work
properly.
I
rejected
that
vehicle,
on
account
of
yet
another
defective
side
mirror.
The
second
vehicle
he
showed
me
had
a
visibly
poor
repaint
job
on
its
right
side.
Additionally,
the
hubcaps
were
being
held
in
place
with
zipties.
The
worst
was
the
interior
upholstery
which
was
dinged
all
over.
Apart
from
the
cosmetic
blemishes,
the
vehicle
seemed
to
work
fine,
and
since
I
had
already
lost
a
quarter
of
a
day
having
to
return
to
the
airport
to
exchange
the
vehicle,
I
decided
to
take
this
vehicle
with
the
soiled
interiors
anyway.
So
far
I
have
not
detected
any
mechanical
issues
with
this
vehicle.
This
will
absolutely
be
my
last
time
conducting
business
with
Sixt.
I
now
realize
that
I
am
not
the
first
customer
to
report
receiving
a
defective
and
unsafe
vehicle
from
this
company.
I
will
also
be
filing
complaints
with
Sixt
HQ
and
with
the
Bureau
of
Standards
in
Trinidad
and
Tobago.
