πŸ‘πŸ‘ Beautiful place to go and explore the Renosterveld and learn a lot more about the ecology there. Very interesting plants and the conservationist on the reserve is VERY knowledgeable. Its fun to stay in die guest house which is in two old farm house styled buildings. I am definitely going again.

A little haven of original Renosterveld biodiversity, conserved for the good of the fynbos and the planet. Well done Dr Odette Curtis-Scott and team

Very impressed with Odette and her team for conserving the critically endangered Renosterveld. This piece of land is the largest section of Renosterveld that's left on the planet. Walking in the veld and learning about the plant diversity of this overlooked habitat, is a real eye opener. Next time we'll go for a weekend.

We are already learning so much from the 10 Black Harriers we have tagged with satellite tracking devices over the past few years.. Odette Curtis-Scott, ORCT Director says, β€œWe can see that several of the Black Harriers that we tagged at breeding sites in the Overberg last year have not returned to the same areas this year. They have spread out and are breeding in the Klein Karoo, the Eastern Cape and the Riversdale area.” Despite this, the ORCT and Dr Rob Simmons managed to still tag 4 birds recently. Meet our 4 new contributors: πŸͺΆ Jules (female, named by the Dutch Montagu’s Harrier Foundation who sponsored a tag) πŸͺΆ Peter (male, after the renowned Peter Steyn, by the Cape Bird Club, who sponsored two tags) πŸͺΆ Kwezi2 (male, named by the Inkwazi Bird Club, who sponsored a tag) πŸͺΆ Molly (female, named after Odette’s five-year old daughter, who was there for the special tagging occasion). #BlackHarriers #renosterveld #conservation

We stayed there on a wintry, windy weekend. The Shed, as they call it, is well equipped and cozy with the fireplace inside. It is so quiet and we slept so well and relaxed and recharged ourselves completely. The bedding was so nice and fresh and the beds warm and comfortable. For the solitude and authenticity I give it 5 stars!

Just visiting for a look-see. Intern showed us around the research centreand guest accommodation. Went to the lookout and took the path around the kop. Amazing vegetation unique to the Western Cape.

We recently stayed in the Shed for a 2-night stay and it was truly WONDERFUL! Warm hospitality upon arrival, and an excellently equipped cottage. So peaceful. Beautiful area, lovely walks, gorgeous flora and good birding! Well positioned for visiting De Hoop NR too. Will definitely be back, and plan to do more hiking on the reserve :)

πŸ‘πŸ‘ Wow this was stunning. The kids loved it, the wife loved it (and even I loved it). So much effort has gone into this amazing place. The detail and the lush plants and greenery really make it such an experience. It’s great for kids although keep your eyes on your littlest ones as mine wanted to touch...

πŸ‘πŸ‘ The Lang Elsie's Kraal Rest Camp at the Bontebok National Park is truly a hidden gem. Having never been there before, I didn't know what to expect, but now I can't wait to go back. En-route from the park reception to the rest camp you pass a number of activities such as hiking and MBT routes as well...
