The staff at De Hoop is very friendly and helpful. My mother (90) having to use a walking aid and not being able to climb stairs, mentioned that she would love to go to the coast, but unfortunately this was not possible any more for her. Dalfrenzo, the manager, went out of his way and asked me what height of steps she could still manage - he then had one one of the staff build wooden stairs with railing on both sides to make it possible for her to climb into the Safari vehicle that eventually brought us to the sea. Amazing dedication, thanks so much, we keep our stay in very good memories and hopefully will be back next year!

There is absolutely nothing bad I can say about this place. I came here for my partner's sister's wedding and I was highly skeptical of the logistics but: 1) Location: 15/10, absolutely gorgeous. Some fynbos, some wild life, beautiful blustery beaches and a lovely vlei. 2) Service: excellent service. The wedding went off without a hitch on their side. When I lost my phone during the ceremony, they were a great help in retrieving it. The staff are super friendly and incredibly helpful. They worked late nights and early mornings for us with no issue and no complaints. 3) Food: absolutely delicious. I recommend that anyone have their salmon croissant for breakfast. They work with a limited dinner menu (vegetarian options are available!) but they play to their strengths and it's incredible. The steak they served was pink to perfection but so tender and melt in your mouth. The texture and flavour of the fish they served was lovingly preserved. The vegetables were sweet, well seasoned and cooked to the perfect level. We had forgotten to book a table one night and they easily accommodated us. They even made sure I had a different dessert option! Though, I would advise everyone to remember to book their tables. I have never been a fan of potjie but even their potjie was perfect. 4) Accommodation: we stayed in the beautifully furnished Opstal houses. The buildings are well preserved and they ensure you have coffee, tea, sugar and creamer, though you may want to bring your own salt and pepper if you cook for yourself. Cooking utensils and crockery are provided, as are towels, toilet paper and tissues. (2ply, people, that's how you know it's fancy.) Our thanks for a lovely experience! We wish you all the best!

He had an accident on our way to the de hoop Nature Reserve on the gravel road. We were lucky and met Dalfrenzo on the way. He brought us to the accommodation and helped und together with Hendrik getting a new car and figuring out things with Europcar. We are very thankful and had a very nice stay at their site. Thank you Hendrik, Dalfrenzo and the whole team. You all took really good care of us. So this is definitely a recommendation for the de hoop collection, such a beautiful place. We woke up to zebras and bonteboks. 😍

It’s hard to type the words to describe the people, animals, accommodation in 'The Dassie Suite ' and unbelievable food at De Hoop . I felt like royalty and enjoyed every moment of our two day visit . Special thanks to Hendrik and Dalfonzo who are the most incredible hands on managers who always go the extra mile ' Marcia the chef, has exceptional culinary skills and produces world class meals in de Hoop's beautiful dining room. As usual the game sightings were incredible and the wine selection and display is world class. Am counting the days until I return!

So - to get this out the way - the last 45km of the drive here is on dirt roads, and the 3 hours from Cape Town presumes you have a car that can go at 80 on these. We did not, and neither this the 3 cars we came across with punctures en route! Somehow no one mentioned this detail, or we overlooked / forgot it… still, got there in the end and when we did it was so so worth it. It feels like you are totally immersed in the animal life. Within minutes of arriving - before we even got to our room, we had seen dozens of ostrich, baboons, eland, zebra and even a flock of flamingos. The whole place was so tranquil, the food great (albeit some of the service a little rusty…) and the guides were so friendly and knowledgeable. The dunes a short drive away were an added bonus on top of the wetlands. Miles and miles of rolling sands and completely deserted beaches looking out onto the Indian Ocean. Just magic.

We liked the reserve. Calm, with a nice view around the whole place. Lots of small animals too. The rooms are clean and comfortable, the food is not great (bad breakfast but acceptable dinner). The service is very disappointing. Half of the staff seems unhappy to work there, not much friendly, neither helpful. Regarding the restaurant, we needed to ask several times to get our drinks and our food. Beside that, we liked the mood there, good feelings and lots of families.

Beautiful location - be sure to read up on getting here as the road is very basic (rutted dirt track for much of the approach)- allow extra travel time - the accommodation was lovely. Clean, comfortable and warm (we were here in winter) the restaurant was great and allowed some chilled out sofa time in front of a roaring fire. elland, zebra, ostriches roaming freely and a 15min drive to one of the best land based whale watching ever from a lovely cafe -bring cash as we were almost caught out! (we were here end of July) - wish we could have stayed longer but will definitely be back - take time for this beautiful location - enjoy:-)

Perfect. Honest 5/5 stars. A special Thank You to EDDY, who guided us through the Nature Drive and the Marine Walk. He explained us really curious facts and interesting information about the animals and the vegetation living in the area. The rooms are amazing, old style but very well served. The food at the restaurant is good, they're really flexible with the timing. We've been late for breakfast but they allowed us to have it anyway. Perfect service.

We camped and, despite the cold and wet, had a great 2-night stay. Fantastic staff, great restaurant - and couldn't believe the wine cellar!!!

Unfortunately not recommendable at all… We travelled across the whole country, had amazing weeks and love this country, but this accommodation was one of the most expensive ones, also also the worst one. The furniture and the whole room design is from the 70ies/80ies. It is not well-tended at all :(. You can see it in my photographs. It‘s also dirty in some places, they don‘t clean seriously. We asked for a room changement, but they told us that the whole collection was fully booked. So in the end, they didn‘t accommodate us in any way. For that reason we left earlier. We are happy about that! The only positive thing is the dinner and some of the staff that are quite friendly. But after you have complained about sth., they started to act hypocritical. That is not comfortable. Do not mix up this experience with the „De Hoop Nature Reserve“. Because the nature there is absolutely fantastic. But „De Hoop Collection“ is a shame for that wonderful Nature Reserve.

Absolutely beautiful property and kind staff. The Fig Tree restaurant was gorgeous. And when we booked a caravan site (it was raining!) they automatically swapped us into a cottage, to stay warm. That was awesome.

We stayed in the campsite which gives one a real nature experience. Camping area is not grassed. Some campsites have shady trees, some have magnificent views of the vlei. Ostriches, bontebok, eland, zebra and countless birds wander through the campsite. Campers may use the swimming pool which has a magnificent, uninterrupted views of the vlei. Ablutions are very clean. Ladies: 3 showers with plenty of hot water, 2 basins and 3 toilets. I assume Mens side is similar. Communal kitchen area with table top ovens/stoves, wash up sinks, kettle, chest freezer and a few basic utensils. There are even dish cloths, sponges and Sunlight liquid. Gift shop. ½hr drive to the beach.

Absolutely stunning location, this is a must see in a wonderful remote part of the Cape. Views over the vlei and the surrounding area are special. The chalets were lovely and most suitable for the area in the Cape Dutch style. We had a wonderful, peaceful visit whilst there. Definitely visit the beach with its beauty and serenity, if like us you could get lucky and spot Secretary Birds walking through the fynbos too. A must visit.

Beautiful venue. Friendly, happy and hearty staff. Good service.... we loved the cellar, and the nature and all the deer. Good food and wine. The coast is stunning! Spectacular!

Staff are all excellent. They are kind, they listen and are willing to assist. Beautiful location and accommodation. The restaurant is a lovely place to be, great atmosphere and food. Would definitely recommend! Thank you De Hoop Collection and staff for helping us on short notice, showing us Cape Vultures and treating us like values guests.

Caravanning. Nice camp sites. Mostly quite private and mostly with some shade. Excellent campsite ablution and kitchen. Well maintained and managed. Lots of bird life and game walking through the camp. A bit expensive for camping but well worth it. Great place.

We arrived, as a family of four, for lunch. The restaurant setting is absolutely awesome, and the restaurant itself is well appointed and suitable for a leisurely lunch, or for an upmarket dinner. The menu is limited and is reasonably priced and may not appeal to all, but the wine list is one of the most comprehensive I have seen for many, many years! The food was good. Not great, but good, and again, the style may not suit all tastes. What really disappointed though, was the service. We waited for ages to get menus, place drinks orders and although the food came out fairly quickly, there was little follow up service at the table. I think that if I was staying there, I would eat at the restaurant again, but would certainly not make the effort as a day visitor. Pity.

Wonderful nature, comfortable accommodation and good service all around. The on-site restaurant offers good coffee, breakfasts, lunch, great Pizza, salads and a small dinner menu,. All is very well prepared and wonderfully presented. The only flaw is that there are no Vegan and Gluten free options, especially gluten free pizza bases and Vegan Buddha Bowls. The owner is most definitely a wine connoisseur as the selection of wines are on par with any top restaurant and reasonably priced. All and all, highly recommended.

We saw a tortoise! Also baboons, zebra, ostriches and baby bontebok. Very helpful staff and a wonderful peaceful place.

Great experience being immersed in the beautiful nature reserve. We stayed in a Rondawel with shared bathroom facilities, the outdoor shower with views on the river was a special experience. The guides on our boat tour and the friendly service and delicious food at the restaurant also contributed to our great time at De Hoop, looking forward to coming back in the future!

Amazing resort with very cozy cottages that let you experience the wildlife first hand with the occasional ostrich at your doorstep. The secluded beach is marvelous and the entire park offers many options for game drives, biking and hiking. The restaurant serves also really high quality food and the staff is very friendly. Highly recommended and worth the manageable trip on gravel roads to get there.

😐 Typical municipal campsite. No shade. Gets very windy. The beach is a blue flag beach so it is amazing to swim in. There are no braai facilities, so bring your own. Bathrooms are ok. You need your own toilet paper. You need the caravan plug to plug in the electric box.
