Quite simply, outstanding. I have always been a little bit unsure of trying a restaurant like this, whether I would feel comfortable with the ambiance, and fine dining experience. I really did not need to worry. Staff are super friendly, knowledgeable, attentive but not intrusive. Surroundings are lovely and comfortable, immediately setting you at ease. I cannot think of a suitable adjective of high enough praise to describe the food. Every dish was exquisitely presented, tasted sublime and just the right amount of food to leave the restaurant sated. Thank you to the team at Meltons, my partner and I had a lovely evening last night, we will be back for sure.

We unfortunately were in a rush as we had a tour to get to. But our experience at Melton's was one we will always remember. Great staff and every single dish was so beautifully presented and delicious. Highly recommended

I'm starting by saying I am by no means an expert on fine dining! This was a first for me but something me and my partner thought we would try for a special occasion. We were seated downstairs and there were only 2 other people in the room which for a Saturday evening was slightly unusual however after a few people arrived and were shown upstairs we assumed the majority of guests must have been seated up there. Our waitress was lovely, explained every dish she brought to the table. The food looked exactly how you would expect it too, beautifully presented and picture perfect! However i was disappointed in the choice and to be honest the taste. Again I am by no means an expert and was aware of the price this resturant charged but with it being a special occasion i was willing to pay more than i normally would however the £100+ bill wasn't worth it in my opinion and we did leave disappointed. Happy we tried it but I don't think we will be experiencing fine dining again anytime soon

Went for dinner on a Tuesday night and we were completely charmed by the warmth of service and intimate atmosphere. The tasting menu was elegant and diverse and the wine pairings for each course were deeply thoughtful. The staff were incredible and very knowledgeable on each dish and glass of wine they served. Thank you so much for an incredible experience!

All of us had the tasting menu, and we were honestly EXTREMELY impressed by the food!! Delicious flavours (with some Japanese influence…?) and ingredients, beautiful plating!! My guests had the lamb and fish mains and I had the vegetarian one, and I was pleasantly surprised by the quality of the veg main. Excellent food for its price. Bravo!! Have been to multiple Michelin starred restaurants around the world, and we honestly feel that the quality of Melton’s food doesn’t lose out. We particularly enjoyed the amuse-bouche, the refreshing pea dish, the scallop, the mushroom broth (with cauliflower in it). However, if we could give some constructive criticism to the restaurant, it would be regarding the lighting and the provision of napkins. Firstly on lighting — we were sat at a rather dim table (right opposite the staircase down to the lower floor), and without an additional table lamp / candle it was truthfully quite difficult to fully appreciate the lovely colours, arrangement, presentation and overall plating of the food. Thus, we felt that this was quite a waste! Besides that, we thought that napkins could be provided after the amuse-bouche given that we had to use our hands to pick them up (this is usually the practice in Michelin starred restaurants). Lastly, just a small note to add, my guests and I felt that the tart of the last dessert course might be more enjoyable if it were a ‘lighter’ pastry! These points aside, the dining experience was divine. Hope more people will patronise Melton’s. Our compliments to the chef and team!

What a gem, just outside York centre. We enjoyed the taster menu and wine pairing. Our servers were passionate about both food and wine and we came away wanting to return ASAP. Well worth a visit.

We ate here as a wedding anniversary celebration. Had taster menu. Both independently said it was the best meal out we have ever had. Everything was delicious and perfectly presented.

This place deserves a Michelin star ! Every dish is with the right seasoning and none of them is of too heavy taste but still with the complexity and richness . Definitely will come back again! And it worths a trip back to UK for this for sure !!

We celebrated my wife’s birthday here on Saturday and it couldn’t have been any more perfect. The welcome and service from Harvey was exemplarily and he talked us through each course with good confidence in the ingredients. It is also nice to get an insight into his love of the job he does. The passion is clear to see and seems to mirror the feel of the owners and chefs. Each of the taster courses delighted the palate, from the amuse bouche to final dessert. Our wine sommelier Lucy also has a passion for the pairings she offers. A good insight into her reasons for choosing each pairing gives you great confidence that each one works perfectly. Amazing food, wonderful, friendly team. Best meal I've had in a long time. Highlights were the amuse Bouche and the breads, I know I should say the main meals but suffice to say, an excellent meal.

Amazing, friendly and wonderful food. We couldn’t fault the service food or ambience. The owner has an amazing knowledge of wine, which she generously shares in a non-pretentious way. Really enjoyed the evening and we will be back again.

I think its the best restaurant in town. All staffs were friendly and helpful. The dishes were well decored and creative in ingredients and cooking. Non of them were too salty, which I usually face to when try others in UK. We did not go for drinks but could see the staff did carefully explain of wine for others Definitely must try!

We went to Melton's for my partners birthday. It was a really lovely meal and the staff are lovely aswell. We did the 7 course tasting menu with the accompanied wine. All the dishes tasted delicious and I would also recommend having them with the wine. We have booked again we liked it soo much. A must visit!

Amazing little restaurant with incredible food! We did the six course tasting menu and the wine flight. They were really flexible with the menu as I'm not keen on desert, so they swapped it for the cheese for me, which was very much appreciated! We loved every course, and would definitely go again!

We did have lunch at Melton as a start point of our trip in York, which we were not regret it. 3 courses menu was amazing and it was included canapés and breads as well. The food are very good. The portion are good to just fill your tummy perfectly. Don’t skip their dessert, it was amazing!

Absolutely fantastic food, the staff were attentive and great at explaining what was on offer. The canapés and breads were a great addition and tasty divine. We had the beef for main and this was one of the best tasting plates of food.we have had in a long time. Thank you Melton's. Outstanding food - every dish was beautifully presented and utterly delicious. Clever combinations of ingredients and unusually for me I adored the dessert - a gorgeously understated and not over-sweet quince soufflé. Front of house was excellent too - everything perfectly timed and not pretentious in anyway. One of the best restaurant experiences I’ve ever had!

Fantastic Food & Brilliant Service We’ve been several times now to this restaurant and it has always been a wonderful experience. The food is outstanding, ingredients put together in ways I could never imagine or hope to achieve. The service is warm, professional and calm - the whole atmosphere of the restaurant is like this. You’re left to enjoy your food and conversation at a pace where you take it all in. An absolute gem of a place - if you’re ever in York then a highly recommended destination, you won’t be disappointed. NB - The amuse-bouche served when I last went (a cauliflower, capers & many other ingredients I can’t remember - who knew cauliflower could taste like that!) was unbelievable, the chef who created that, what skill they have. Thank you.
