If you like to hike, this is a great State Forest to visit. We really enjoyed our hike. This is an interesting area with the history and trails here. We plan to visit more and hike all of the Pinhoti.

If in the area you definitely want to hike up and meet the old man on top of the mountain! Nimblewill Nomad, the man, the legend, has a wealth of knowledge about all things concerning backpacking, hiking and life. Highly recommended destination, whether your day hiking or beginning your trek from Bama to Baxter

Discovered Flagg Mtn when we went exploring the area 2019, and Wow! We went up from cty road 29 to 16, and u definitely need 4wheel drive or a high vehicle to go up that side! We go several times a yr. Never bn n tower until now, and what a stunning view from so far up! Breathe taking! Peaceful, relaxing, serene! They have made major improvements to the tower and trail! Absolutely beautiful place to visit! Doesn't cost a thing except for ur gas to get there! U can walk the trail and picnic! Even have cabins u can rent! I recommend going adventuring here! U will love it too!

We visited the fire tower and the renovations they have done are amazing! It has a great view and has a wheelchair accessible path. If you are looking for a great view in all directions I recommend going.

Flagg Mountain has a beautiful facility with great views across Alabama. It’s rich in history. The trail from the parking area to the the pavilion with the lookout tower is great! It’s paved and is easily accessible. It’s made for wheelchairs buts it’s perfect for everyone. The tower has been renovated and looks great! Can’t wait to go back and sign the book!

Even though the weather was overcast, there were still plenty of great views from the top of the mountain. I am so glad I made the trip to Flagg Mountain. This is a special place and I will be visiting more often. I got to meet Sunny, the caretaker of the mountain and we had a nice long chat about hiking. It was a great day.

If you like hiking, rough camping-in empty cabins, bring bedding, food, water & etc. There is an outhouse kept clean of vermin(spider webs and such), photography, nature, history of Pinhoti Trail & CCC park builds back around 1930s. Cabin area open everyday during daylight hours. There is a caregiver who lives on site. Very interesting old hiker to talk with. Just go up for a day visit. Fire tower area is open only on weekends. Tower is locked has not been restored yet but still a great view. Can see Cheaha Mtn..highest point in AL..from top of Flagg Mountain.
