An extraordinary view of Cedar Breaks. Best time to take photos here is at or before sunset. The light reflecting at sunset if so amazing because the direction the sun faces on the red rock hoodoos is just amazing. You will get lots of wonderful shots here. Recommended lenses are a 28-300mm lens or even a 600mm because of some of the distances. I personally recommend shooting from right to left in a wide angle and then repeat finding closer objects. Then repeats again with lens all the way extended to whatever you can find. I have known through much experience here that some shots might not look like much until you get back to the studio and you find out they are superb. It's great to take as many as possible because you can always delete later. Oxygen can be very little at this area. Bring warm clothes and water too. There is a neat little group of trees right below this lookout that are fun to shoot. Be careful not to go out onto the ledge area as it can be very dangerous. The Park Service has informed me not to do that. I knew it was dangerous but I did anyhow and I got a slap on the hand by them.

The Chessmen Ridge Overlook is one of the best places to take in the views of Cedar Breaks National Monument. The overlook is located at an elevation of 10,460 feet, and it offers stunning views of the amphitheater, the Paunsaugunt Plateau, and the surrounding mountains. The different colors of the rocks are very cool I visited the overlook on a clear day in August , and I was amazed by the views. I could see for miles in every direction. The amphitheater was so deep and vast, and the colors of the rocks were so vibrant. If you're visiting Cedar Breaks National Monument, be sure to stop at the Chessmen Ridge Overlook. It's one of the best places to get a view of the park.

Amazing views!!! Visited on June 2nd. Very little visitors were around. The lookouts are super convenient and easy to visit. Parking is great and the lookout is only a short walk. Worth the trip!

Very cold but very beautiful. The path from path was Chessman Ridge to the picnic area at Supreme point camp ground was about a mile on a paved path. Stroller and wheel chair friendly. I believe the trail is called Sunset trail.

Wow, very mesmerizing! A short walk from the parking lot, which includes a handicapped spot. There is a picnic table nestled in the trees right by this overlook as well (I don't think you would be able to sit at the table and see over the edge at the same time - the trees would be blocking it). You can park in the parking lot at this overlook to get to the beginning of the Alpine Pond Loop Trail. There is a garbage can here and also a nice log bench. :)

Truly spectacular place at such a high elevation. You find these hoodos that are still forming! When i went in May I had the place completely to myself. I think this is a great alternative to Bryce canyon! I loved the many vistas, but beware, it does get cold!

Great view of the beautiful canyon. Today there was a strong wind and wonderfully clean air. Now there were few visitors there with us. There are some trails. All beautiful in their own way. Just visit this beautiful national park and enjoy.

πŸ‘πŸ‘ Excellent location! Petroglyphs are fascinating and have great descriptions. If you are going for the dinosaur tracks, you have to drive. The tracks are about a 7 minutes drive southwest on gap road. Very cool! Some pictures here for reference.
