Had the best time at this cafe! Went every day (sometimes twice a day) during our stay in Barbados. Great food and lattes! Nick and Ruth are so kind and created a great space to grab breakfast. Don’t pass up on the red velvet pancakes, I wish I had gotten a photo of those. They are thin and not too much, perfect to eat for a mid day pick me up and still feel comfortable to head to the beach! Can’t wait to see Nick and Ruth again during our next visit. Highly recommend!!!

Without doubt the best place I had breakfast in Barbados. There weren’t many places where I felt I got good value or indeed quality whilst in Barbados but here I got both in abundance. The owners are super cool and friendly too, you can tell they are genuine and care about their customers.

Best breakfast in the area. Good choice and refill coffee. Nice, strong coffee as well. Wonderful , smiling, attentive service. Food comes out quickly, fresh and warm. Expect to wait for a table at times.. it's popular, but worth it. Loose chickens are an issue. Beware. Flies also. Expected with the climate and outdoor eating.

Beautiful place for breakfast. I had the most delicious red velvet pancakes with blueberries, whipped cream and maple syrup. The coffee was great and so was the freshly squeezed orange juice. The cafe is close to Dover Beach and the service was from all members of staff was so kind, calm, friendly and welcoming.

This is our return visit to Dover Beach and Happy Days was our first breakfast visit, we weren't disappointed! We had an array of food between our party of 6 from traditional breakfast, omelettes, pancake stacks and cinnamon toast. Everyone thoroughly enjoyed it, it was plentiful tasty and good value for money. It will definitely be part of our breakfast plan during our stay. And as always Nick, Ruth and the team were perfect hosts 😎

Super tasty breakfast place nestled in a courtyard of souvenir shops. We had the French toast and pancakes and both were delicious. The cafe owner and staff are super friendly and there was a nice relaxed vibe. It's a popular spot and accepts card payments. We loved watching the chickens roam around!

Lovely place for breakfasts. They do the best French toast and iced coffee in the world. Really lovely waiter there too. We ate here every morning we were staying locally and can't wait to come back! Loved seeing the chickens and the cute cat while we visited too!

Lovely staff. But breakfast menu is quite basic. If you're after baked beans and toast, this is your place. However, if you want fruit, avocado or poached eggs you won't get it.

William & Sasha What can we say that already has not been said. Best breakfast and lunch on the Island, value for money and two of the hardest working people who run this gem. Ruth who is the chef, amazing and not forgetting Nick who knows nothing about cricket (shame on you). Would come in and the banter would start, food and banter set us up for the day. So if you staying at the Gap or just paying a visit we can't recommend this cafe enough. To Nick, Ruth, Shawnette and Charlotte thank you. William & Sasha

A good place for a leisurely breakfast in St. Lawrence Gap. The place was quite busy (even on a Thursday in March), so we shared a table with other diners. The portions are large, especially for the hungry man plate (a short stack of pancakes, scrambled eggs, chicken sausage and pork bacon), though the plate of pancakes and chicken sausage was also quite substantial. Three things to note: their chicken sausage was especially flavorful, their jam was a red fruit jelly that was reminiscent of Hawaiian Punch, and you might have to defend your food from the resident chickens.

If I could give 10 starts for the service and food I would! My husband and I have just returned from Barbados/Dover Beach and wish we could walk across to eat at Nick’s place- truly Happy Days! Genuine, Accommodating, Friendly! Regardless of how busy, Nick and his wife got, they always took time to meet every guest and have a quick catch up! If you want a wholesome, home away from home cooked meal…this is the place to go. We tried the omelet, pancakes, various eggs- always perfect. And out of all the coffee places we tried; this was the best coffee I had on the island. Look forward to returning!

I had banana pancakes, they were okay but I wouldn't get them again. The caramel latte was okay but needed to be hotter. The place itself was hard to find because Google maps stops you before the bit you have to turn down to find it but the locals are friendly and helped me find it. The service was good and they were friendly so I might go back and try something else.

This café is owned by a couple. When my order arrived, there was something missing, so I asked whether it was coming. Nick, who is the co-owner of the business with his wife, responded with a rude tone: "I've only got one arm". A simple "yes, it's coming" would have been sufficient. For context, one of his arms is in a sling. After I finished my order and proceeded to pay, I told him that I felt his response was disrespectful. To my surprise, he was completely dismissive. His facial expression said it all. As if he wanted to say... "so what?" I told his wife that I won't be returning to their business; and as I was walking away, he said "even better, I won't need to be nice to you." What did I do to deserve such arrogant, rude and disrespectful behaviour? I was a regular customer at this business, but I will never be returning again. And, please, don't give me this **** about "cultural differences". Give me a break! He knew he was rude, even his wife couldn't ignore the fact he was rude because she tried apologising on his behalf. This is the excuse that people from this region use to get away with taking money off British, American and Canadian visitors and residents while slapping them in the face. You are just a bank machine to these people. If only Nick chose to apologise instead of being rude to me again, after I had raised the problem with him, they might not have just lost a long-term customer. As for Happy Days Café, the main problem with this business is that customers (usually tourists) are feeding the chickens incessantly, which has caused the chickens in this area to become so aggressive. I've even had a chicken jump onto my lap to take food off my plate, and if you read other reviews, you'll notice that others have had the same experience. Nick and his wife are not doing enough to stop customers from feeding the chickens. Tourists do not understand that the chickens are wild animals, but I think it's fair to blame the business for it, because they are not doing enough to make their customers aware that chickens must not be fed. I have repeatedly suggested placing notices on the tables.

It deserves 10 stars! Staff is very friendly (the chef even remembered my order from the day before!), prices are excellent and the food is amazing. Best restaurant experience I had in a long time. Too bad I discovered them at the end of my trip. Please open a restaurant in Trois-Rivieres, Canada! 😛

Hands down the best place to have breakfast. Just get there early so you don't have to wait for a table. We've been going there for several years. Nick seemed genuinely happy to see us when we showed up this year, shaking our hands and welcoming us back. I don't usually enjoy sausages much, but their chicken sausages are really good. The eggs are always done perfect. And you have chickens and chicks wandering around entertaining you. Something to look forward to instead of cooking. See you next year Nick!

The sweetest setting and the sweetest staff! They are friendly, helpful, and remember you and your holiday plans. Food is delicious too. Service is average, as they are busy. Well worth visiting. Will miss thia place!

Wonderful breakfasts to set you up for the rest of the day. Friendly service, and keen attention from the chickens, in a quaint courtyard setting (chattel village). Excellent value for money.

Came here several times during our holiday because the food was so delicious. The cafe is in a colourful and breezy spot right by Dover beach so perfect for a post-swim bite to eat - cinnamon French toast was particularly amazing! Plus the people who work there are fantastic. Great experience all round.

  • 5/5 Andrew B. 2 years ago on Google
Fantastic, friendly, laid back place with plenty of chickens running about. Omelette with olives, green pepper and cheese - simple but just right, especially with a touch of hot sauce. Outside seating in the courtyard is so relaxing and unhurried. Thanks for great service.

What a great find, I researched this place before flying out knowing it was close to our hotel. Wow what a gem of a little place, service was fantastic friendly team. Food fresh and hot, I loved the omelette and on a few occasions added some sausages to the side and they were nice to, not fatty or greasy. My wife had the scrambled eggs often and the girls switched between a few set menus. Prices are fair, we didn’t eat at lunch time as tended to manage with breakfast until the evening so can’t comment on the day menu. Visiting in July we always managed to get a table without a wait in the mornings. You have to try this place out if staying on or close to the gap.

Excellent place for breakfast, particularly the cinnamon French toast. Lovely hosts, nothing too much trouble. Our go to breakfast place for the holiday.

Highly recommended! The cafe is so close to Dover Beach and offers delicious comfort food that is far cheaper than in hotel/resort restaurants. It’s also open on Sundays which is a big plus. Staff are very kind and greet you with a big warm smile. My husband ordered a breakfast hotdog and I got an omelette. Both were scrumptious. We would love to come back the next time we’re in Barbados.

Tastiest meal we’ve had on the island so far. Highly recommend for lunch, we had the Chicken Italia, everything was so fresh. The owner couldn’t have been more helpful or friendlier, we decided while they were cooking that we wanted to walk down and eat on the beach so they packed all our food up to takeaway (all in biodegradable packaging). Looking forward to coming back before we leave. 11/10.

The service was great, the food was really good. I got their red velvet pancakes and they were delicious and they werent too sweet which is good for me. The only thing I didnt like was the chickens because they can get a little rowdy and they leave droppings everywhere.

  • 2/5 James H. 4 years ago on Google
I think the pricing was deceptive. Omelette was supposed to be $4.99 on special for a cheese omlette. I was charged twice that because I ordered a ham and cheese omelette...the regular price even though the ham could have been charged as an add on. The server was not very cordial...in fact she was kinda cold. Couldn't even say your welcome when told thank you.

Very relaxed atmosphere. There is indoor and outdoor seating. The flatbread with egg and turkey ham was delicious so was their mint shake. Owners are environmentally friendly as well as we received no plastic. Straws were from card and cups were either metal (water) or glass(shakes). Will definitely go again.

This is the best breakfast spot in St. Lawrence. The eggs can't get any fresher and the pancakes are made of clouds. To top it off, you will be accompanied by some fun and respectful "chickentainment" Will definitely be coming back!
