The stone Gun Hill Lion near Gun Hill Signal Station in central Barbados was carved by Captain Henry Wilkinson in 1868. It was meant to illustrate the might of the British Empire across the globe (symbolized by the small red globe).

Stunning views up by the Lion and particularly beautiful when the Flamboyants are in bloom.

Nice to visit. Grass and surrounding areas needs trimming and maintenance. No parking space available unless you visit through the paid tour by the Signal station.

Super fun place to go if you got kids. I loved this thing! I have a picture of me riding it! (Dad was off camera just in case but it has a very wide, flat, back)

An interesting piece of Barbados History in relation to the British Regiments formerly stationed here, well detailed at the base of the lion... worth a photo with the kids but not necessarily a "must do" if you only have a short time on the island.

This simple but iconic landmark should be on the visit list when you come to Barbados along with Gun Hill. Take a picture of yourself with lion as part of your memory making.

Wonderful carvings. The lion has decent detail, and the bench looks as if it had been worn down by time and sitting.

Great experience love the details put into this statue

This is still probably one of the good old attracted scenery in the St George area, even though I don't know what is the history behind it. Located in the gunhill area it's a real masterpiece when sightseeing.
