Trevon/Winston (greeters upon arrival), Vivian (swimup bartender), Suzanne (Calabash restaurant staff members), Miranda ( front desk) were professional and welcoming. I enjoyed the stay. My husband & I received a complimentary upgrade and was so appreciative. The hotel has everything I imagined. I love the entrance of the hotel. Inside the room was a complimentary bottle of wine. We had the perfect pool view from our room. The suite was huge included a sitting area, spacious wash room, kitchen, bedroom w/ a safe, living room, and the balcony was everything. This place became my 2nd home. The amenities play room with different games, a gym with every piece of equipment you'll ever need, and also a nursery room located inside of the lounging area which provided books and nice seating to rest and watch TV perfect quite place for study or reading. The hotel offers a Spa as well. The restaurant Calabash served good food. The drinks Vivian prepared are unforgettable. I loved everything about this hotel, I didn't want to leave at all. I hated to leave. This will be my forever home and can't wait to come back again.

Beautiful resort hotel, room was clean and had everything we need as a small family with kids. The staff were friendly and helpful. The beach is beautiful and they have everything you need, a nice restaurant, water sport equipment, sand toys, fresh towels and umbrella for any lounge chair you settle in. They also have laundry machines to do your own laundry. The pools are situated in a beautiful garden of Bougainvillea flowers. Comfortable bed and clean, has everything you need.

The accommodations are not bad—some updating needed. The food and drinks were spectacular. The hostesses, waitstaff, and everyone else, including the bartenders at the restaurant and the pool were fabulous. Kind. Friendly. Wanting to be helpful. But, the front desk staff at every encounter were bored, and acted as if you were interrupting them from more important business. Bad first impression at check-in which was not changed with other interactions, or even check-out. Front of the house staff were weakest link here. We even got warm greetings from security staff, waterfront staff!, and even the fellow picking up dishes and towels around the pool. I want to highlight Vivian & Gregory at the pool bar, Lisbeth at hostess stand🌞and Jan at the restaurant with her signature Irish Coffee cocktail.

Lovely staff, pretty beach that was well-maintained, though small. The on-site restaurant was tasty, I’d rate 4/5. We didn’t appreciate the late night loud music but this may have been an oversight on our part when making reservations- I was expecting the evenings to be a bit quieter.

We loved our time here. The room was clean and comfortable, with wonderful views of the beach and waves lapping the shore. The staff were polite, helpful and welcoming. The food at Calabash was good and reasonably priced. The set up with the hotel seemlessley transitioning to the beach was wonderful. Although the beach is public it still felt private. We hope to return one day soon.

Absolutely loved this hotel. From the moment we were greeted at reception to leaving we were made to feel very welcome. The ground floor room we had was brilliant. Lovely kitchen area equipped with fridge, oven, kettle and coffee machine. The 2 restaurants on site were very good. The swim up bar was perfect. The sea was easily accessible and good fun with waves because it's on the South coast. Very close to Oistins and Bridgetown. Would not hesitate to recommend and would definitely go back.

Wow! Amazing service, friendly staff all around, and a sweet sense of humor. Very nice beach. I personally think it is among the top 3 on the island, and you just walk out your door and you are there. Lots of Brits, they're a fun bunch! Nice clean rooms. Hard working maintenance personnel always visible which is why the place is in such good repair. And the spa, massage...just like a 5 star resort. Nothing negative to say about anything here!

Beautiful oceanfront property! The beach and hotel are spotless thanks to housekeeping and maintenance, who clearly work hard. Front desk staff was exceptional over the phone and in person. Food at both restaurants was just ok. Bar closes early for vacation (10pm), but happy hour was a nice surprise and the bartenders are skilled. Location is tucked away, and a taxi is needed to get basically everywhere. Perfect place to rest and relax on the beach.

Perfectly fine resort, just nothing great about it. The beach is the highlight, the food can easily be improved. There is very little close by the resort, so get a car or use taxis.

Two young girls traveling together. The rooms were spacious and clean. The beach staff were friendly, and very welcoming, specifically Mike. The restaurant staff were kind as well. Food was all fresh and tasting good. Unfortunately did have some money and a pair of airpods go missing. Would definitely use the safe strictly. There is a possibility it could have been misplaced on our end but seems unlikely. Disappointing if things were taken but lovely service and stay asides from that. The beach was clean. Didn’t have people fighting over chairs, wasn’t crowded. It was very easy to get taxi’s as well and to call and request for them. Never had to wait. Overall a lovely little boutique hotel and enjoyed my stay.

We have been to Bougainvillea twice - once when our daughter was 8 & now when she’s nearing 18. The staff is so wonderful- some who’ve been there from our first visit! Shout out to Jose the bar man. Major kudos to Mike & lance at the beach. My new bajan pals who only want to make sure you’re happy! Much appreciation to Natasha at reception who assisted so graciously when we decided to extend our trip. We will be back to see our friends At Bougainvillea! Forgot to add Lance - food & beverage manager who personally made sure we were 110% happy! A genuine friend!

Great spot, medium sized hotel that is not overcrowded. Good pools ideal for family, with separate adult pool. Food varies day to day with local restaurants walking distance….definable come back.

Wow, wow, wow! Amazing resort, spectacular staff, great location full of local character!!! The beautiful beach, plenty of chairs and umbrellas, and the unobstructed views of the ocean from your beach chair were exquisite. We had an amazing week (and never once swam in the pool) as the ocean was warm, free of seaweed, enough waves to enjoy the boogie boards and perfect for our 10 and 12 year old girls (although the pool did look refreshing and very inviting). The location was perfect because we had a car rental and could easily get around. Groceries were easily delivered from Maseys and the resort staff were kind enough to help deliver them to our room. Front desk staff were very friendly and helpful, rooms were always spotless and we were so sad to leave. Our one bedroom included two double beds, a well equipped kitchen to cook if needed and had the most lovely view of the property and ocean. Even in August, we sat out on our balcony early mornings enjoying our coffee, evenings with a cocktail and the breeze was beautiful. There was nothing lacking at the resort. Such a beautiful resort, amazing staff and spectacular island. We cannot thank you enough for making our vacation perfect! We hope to return very soon!

This is the absolutely worst place to stay. I hate that you have to give a 1 star just to rate. This is a time share property. This property is outdated. While waiting to check in 2 guest came to the front desk for water and the front desk agent told them to refill their water bottles with water from tap???? They don't have any vending machines only for the staff. They don't have a bar or restaurant that is open past 10pm where you can possibly get something to eat or drink. SMH. The room that I was in was molded, they don't provide wash clothes, the toilet seat was dirty, the headboard was dirty. I was supposed to be here for 4 nights, but I left after the first night and went to a different resort. The manager Maggie said that I will have to pay for the remaining nights because they won't be able to re-book it. I would think giving good customer service would be better than a damaging review, but to each their own. I prefer comfort and safety over money. My friend that I came with posted a live of her room and experience. After sitting at the front desk for an hour and after posting the first half of my review they decided to refund me so that made me feel a little bit better about their customer service.

Absolutely beautiful. The people are so welcoming and happy. The pool area is great with a 30 second (maybe less) walk you are on the beach. Cant wait to come back and I haven't even left yet.

After a eight hour flight, arriving at 3pm to be told room not ready until 4pm with 3 small children not so good, then room actually ready at 4.45pm not the best start. Staff majority customer service was good, others I felt could not be asked, disinterested, which is a shame because stayed at hotel twice before and had an amazing service. Will give hotel a miss next time I go to Barbados. For the money you pay for holiday expect higher standard. Did not spoil my holiday had my family with me, but felt disappointed at service received.

Although I was only here for a few days, I really enjoyed it. The staff were amazing. I feel as though each one I came into contact with went above and beyond. The scenery is beautiful, and the layout of the hotel adds to the experience. The hotel is not too far away from public transport but if you prefer to stay on the property, there are pools, the beach, movie nights and live entertainment. I will definitely visit again and encourage others to give this hotel a try. You will not be disappointed!

If it is your first time in Barbados, I highly recommend staying at Bougainvillea. My sister and I came out for a 3 week stay, and was looking for a low key, relaxing vacation. If your looking to fill up your CUP, this is the place! From the reception, to the taxi drivers, to the spa and massage, to the cleaning ladies and to the aqua sports team; all around AMAZING staff. There are many restaurants to chose from in the area and they are all delicious including of course the Calabash on location. A huge thank you to the following humans who made our stay a great one! Bell man Jonathan: Keep studying to become a PT! Water sports Rodrick, Wayne, Mario and Lee: Keep sharing your magic tricks and your passion for sports! Loved our volley-ball matchs and SUP! Canada is our home, but Barbados is our heart! Bianca & Sabrina

This was our 7th visit, and we love it !! The staff are all fabulous , every single member of staff are very hard working , friendly and attentive. The hotel has a fantastic chilled out and relaxed atmosphere, the location is perfect, and the ambience of the restaurant is always perfect. Despite this visit being during the pandemic, it certainly didn't impact greatly on our holiday - and we d8d feel very safe in regards to the precautions in place I can't wait till we are back next year. Thank you to all the wonder staff x

Clean, safe, amazing staff. This place is perfect to rest and relax with a picturesque beach right at your fingertips. There are many recurring guest that come here. It is not a surprise to me. They have a lovely little bar that holds a happy hour. You can access it from the pool or outside of the pool.

Stayed here in February for 2 weeks with my wife and baby and we all loved it. The hotel itself was gorgeous and the service was amazing. Everyone was very accommodating and the guests who were there were all quite friendly. I used to stay on the Gap but going forward we’ll definitely be staying here again.

This lovely hotel is clean and well-kept, offering spacious rooms, incredibly pleasant staff and beautiful grounds. We didn’t eat at the hotel but rooms offer a kitchenette so plenty of options to eat on-site or in your room. Highly recommended.

I recently enjoyed a fantastic 10-night stay at Bougainvillea. The experience was nothing short of amazing. The staff were exceptional, making our visit truly memorable. In particular, Michael from the water sports team deserves special mention for going above and beyond to ensure we had a fantastic time by the sea. His dedication and enthusiasm added a unique touch to our vacation. His passion for what he does was evident from the moment we interacted with him. What truly set him apart was his friendly and approachable demeanor. He wasn’t just a staff member; he felt like a genuine friend throughout our stay. Michael’s willingness to share his local insights, tell us about the best hidden gems on the island, and make us feel welcome was truly remarkable. Miss Roxanne, another member of the staff, was truly lovely and contributed to the warm and welcoming atmosphere of the hotel. What stood out most about Miss Roxanne was her genuine care and consideration for the guests. She consistently went the extra mile to ensure our comfort and satisfaction. Her warm smiles and friendly greetings created a welcoming atmosphere that made us feel like valued guests, not just visitors. During our stay, we encountered a small issue with another guest on the complex. However, Maggie handled the situation promptly and professionally, ensuring that it didn’t negatively impact our experience. Overall, our time at this hotel was so enjoyable that I have already booked for another stay. The outstanding staff and their dedication made all the difference and I cannot wait to see you all again in June.

Had the besssttttt stay at Bougainvillea Barbados. Such a beautiful hotel and a perfect location on the beach, but the staff made it even better, I cannot remember everyone’s names now but the ladies on reception were so lovely and helpful. Everyone in calabash (the restaurant) were also so lovely and accommodating. Tion at the bar made the BEST amaretto sours and last but definitely not least Michael from the watersports team was amazingggg, soooo friendly and knowledgeable on the island and things to do. He took us out on the boat a few times as well which was a great experience! He definitely made our stay that bit better. We will definitely be back, I have nothing bad to say about our stay here. Thank you all!

My home away from home for 20+ years. A midsized hotel with all the essentials. If you're coming to the islands please remember that this is not a town in a first world country. It is an almost unspoiled place with bumpy roads, no cookie cutter houses and amazing people. Set your expectations to try something different and be prepared to SLOW down. The Bougainvillea has always been good to us. The staff know our children and have seen them grown up. They will help you even when there is no expectation of payment for each little thing. Treat the people and place with care and they will care for you.

Warning: Unsafe food/water practices. My family had a wedding and about half the guests stayed here, the other half stayed at the Butterfly. The day we all went home, about 10 people got severely ill, even throwing up in the airport. ALL of those who got sick were staying at Bougainvillea. Every single one of us was hospitalized for what seemed like giardia. I was the only exception, but I probably should have been hospitalized too. In addition, the staff treated us strangely at times. We would get yelled at rudely for walking through the beach cafe... it clearly happened a lot, so they need to build new fencing instead of yelling at their guests. They also refused to serve me unless i put shoes on ... at the BEACH Cafe. Literally an outdoor BEACH environment with wooden floorboards. I had to go back up to my room to get my sandals.

We have stayed at Bougainvillea many times over the last 15 years or so. Service is always top notch - even when there is a problem, the staff are very attentive at addressing it quickly. Hotel is very clean and staff are very friendly. We feel like it's our home-away-from-home.

If you're not disabled this is a great hotel/resort. Amazing location and awesome amenities. It's only drawback is total lack of wheelchair access. No elevators, no ramps. But as long as that's not an issue for you then it's great!

This place is incredible. Just like in the pictures. It's unreal. The service is incredible and the rooms are so luxury. The location is beautiful and walking along the beach outside the doorstep is a delight. So happy I came here!

stayed a week. very nice and clean and very nice and helpful staff however they need to work on few services. they have one restaurant and sometime in the middle of the week they change their menu. in my opinion they should include that in their welcome package. also they need to think about building some elevators. also they need to extend their happy hour. it’s only one hour a day. for the price they are charging they really need to clean the beach

We loved the hotel. It exceeded our expectations with facilties and friendly staff. The pools are great and the hotel has a bit of charm about it making a slightly different. We had a deluxe suite which had a full kitchen and balcony etc but I believe even the standard rooms have similar. The views are incredible and the hotel is on a beautiful beach. The restaurant is good and offers a good variety. Breakfast is my favourite especially a fresh omelette. The only down side to the hotel is that it is very quiet in the evenings with not the best entertainment and also the location is a bit isolated. So if you are happy to chill everyday at the hotel and beach without exploring then this is perfect .

This is just a review of the restaurant, not the hotel, as we didn't say there - although Ian Botham was staying there whilst we had our meal! The food was delicious - so much better than walking up the coast to the Fish Fry in Oistins. Thai night was particularly delicious.

We loved this place! Lovely staff and very nice accommodations. The beach on the hotel is amazing and the bar by the pool is so cool to stay after a beach day.

Hotel has a nice charm to it. Staff were friendly and helpful. We stayed in a JR Suite room. The room was spacious and clean and view was okay we could see the beach from our balcony. The only issue we had were the whistling frogs and crickets. They seem to only come out at night and you can't sleep well. We had to turn on some meditation music in order for us to sleep. The beach was okay but I guess the location we were at wasn't the greatest beach compare to the other beaches we saw. Breakfast was okay could use a little more seasoning but I know it could be my taste buds are different than others. We had a light snack at the bar by pool which was good. Overall the stay was decent for the money we spent.

The hotel is on a beautiful beach. The rooms are clean and comfortable, the staff is friendly, the pools are relaxing. There is live music in the evening. The restaurant has good food. Barbados is quite expensive so be prepared if you want to have fun

Our family of 3 shared a deluxe 1 bedroom suite during our recent Barbados visit. The room had a great view of the beach from it's spacious balcony. The suite was spacious, with a full kitchen - the pictures are accurate! The staff were all great and very responsive. Would stay here again!

Third time staying here - first time leaving a review. Had a family reunion here. Came with my wife and 2 small children (6&2). The rooms were nice. The pool is nice. There is on-site childcare and a game room for the kids. The hotel restaurant also has nice options for the kids. There is a relatively large Massy grocery store 1 mile away - which was nice. The gym hours are 6am-10pm, which is lame, but the hours aren't strictly enforced. When I was in Barbados, I was in the middle of a structured cycling training program. Going to the gym at 4am to get on the bike and hit the weights was no problem. If you're a gym rat, their gym is adequate. In need of some routine maintenance, but highly serviceable. There are multiple olympic bars, a smith machine, lots of places for pullups, dummbbells that go up to 100lbs, kettle bells up to 70lbs, 3 treadmills (2 functional), 1 recumbent bike, 2 upright bikes (no digital display, however. I opted to use the recumbent Lifecycle for my training). The gameroom is dated, but my kids loved playing air hockey, foosball, playstation 4 and pool. You have to buy bougainvillea tokens to play the games. The only exception is the ps4, you can borrow games from the desk. I did laundry on-site to make our transition back home a bit easier. The washing machine is free, the dryer costs $10 per load. I found that one dryer load was insufficient to dry my clothes thoroughly. The hotel gave me an additional token for the dryer. Some rooms have smart TVs, some do not. If you're traveling with kids, having a smart tv in your room can be a game changer for early morning, post-dinner or when it is rainy. The hotel is 1 mile away from Oistins, so you can walk there on friday nights...or cab. The beach is nice. They have kayak's, catamarans and boogie boards at the towel/waterpsorts desk. I enjoyed kayaking. Good workout. Very humbling to be out in the big ocean on such a small craft. Look at my pictures. I'm done. I recommend the Bougainvillea

Our first visit to this lovely hotel to celebrate our 30th anniversary & we throughly enjoyed it. The location and design of the hotel is fabulous and our room was excellent and had a private patio/terrace area that overlooked the pool & beach which was virtually shady all day so acted as a nice retreat when we got too hot. We had a kitchen area with hob, fridge freezer, coffee machine, toaster & microwave which was ample for our needs & we did rustle up some lunches & breakfast. The design of the communal pool/bar/restaurant was beautifully done and the planting was spectacular and really lived up to the hotel name. It was well maintained clean & tidy with ample loungers & seating. The food & drink were great, we were room only but we ate in the restaurant a few times for dinner & breakfast & always had great service & very tasty food. The pool bar was awesome & I think we made good use of happy hour as Vivian got to know exactly what we were going to have by week 2. We enjoyed trying the kyaks & paddle boards and the staff were great with their instructions & explained everything very well. Sadly their catamaran was out of action otherwise we would have taken a trip in that too. The spa area is in the basement but it is a beautifully cool & relaxing space. We had a couples massage that was very good but you might need to book if you want a specific time. I also noticed a hair salon there which I would have booked before our anniversary meal if I'd known. The hotel surprised us with champagne & a rum cake on our actual anniversary which was a lovely touch which we appreciated. All the staff we encountered were top class. Friendly, polite, helpful and interested in how we were getting on & if we were enjoying our stay. From cleaning, maintenance, grounds people, water sports guys, bar staff, waiting staff, security & of course the helpful receptionists it all seemed like a big happy family and made for a relaxing stay. Only 1 small issue for us was our room I think could be connected to the room next door via a locked door. This wasn't the issue but our neighbours seemed to cook & make a noise in the kitchen at rather unsocial hours which often woke us at night. Luckily there were plenty of opportunities for a nap during the day so we coped.

Excellent resort experience in paradise. The staff were extremely hospitable and even called my room when they discovered I was having stomach problems from a meal elsewhere to ask how I was doing. Only downsides were lack of mosquito netting on windows and some confusion about charges that were resolved in the end. Would definitely stay here again.

A fantastic experience from the first day until I left! Chose to stay at Bougainvillea to celebrate my birthday and was not disappointed. The room, service and facilities exceeded expectations! Sweet surprises and personal care! Will be returning in the near future.

Great Sunday brunch. Staff were welcoming. Brunch menu included many of the regular items but with a nice twist such as Smores French toast. There were no mimosas which read very disappointing which warranted a star off but the staff made up for it.

Hotel was okay. Had a lot of “tired” elements in the room with details such as crack in mirror, scratches all over glass kitchen table, etc) The entire experience could have been so much better with improved customer service. Hospitality was lacking. The front desk staff was pleasant. Most of the expressions of personality was in the pool bar.

  • 5/5 Wendy C. 2 years ago on Google
We spent a week at Bougainvillea and honestly it was the best. The staff are all incredibly professional, friendly and helpful. Our apartment was well maintained and cleaned spotlessly daily. The pools were nice and clean. The restaurant facing the beach is nice and serves really yummy food and drinks. The only downside is the relatively strong sea current that is not as suitable for less experienced swimmers, however that is the same to a lot of beaches on the south. I'd definitely recommend this hotel if you're looking for a relaxing stay in Barbados.

An amazing hotel. Super friendly staff. Great beach front location. Restaurant on site is very decent and there is another next door. A lot of people I have spoken to are return customers, I can see why.
